Eytan mentions here that this set not only has extra commons but also an increased number of rares and mythics. In particular, this means that were still missing more than one mythic.
I might also point out that, besides Surge, the other 'team' mechanic in the set is, uh, using multiple Planeswalkers together. As a huge Superfriends geek, I must say: I approve. I sincerely hope that the PW Sigil art is for a cycle of cards that work on this principle.
Standard: Superfriends!
Legacy: Nic Fit / Pod
Pauper: Delvar; Tron; Flicker Stuff
Commander: Riku ("Some weird doubple spell thing happened"); Keranos ("I did a Gatherer search for 'random' and 'flip a coin.'"); Superfriends!
Most likely. So far we've seen none of that, so it's probably a semi-cycle of those, especially since the oaths are on booster packs, and if I recall, they don't use non-card art for boosters.
Magic Origins had non-card art.
It's a shame that nobody has started a number crunch. We're not even sure about the amount of commons
I'm also very curious how this all fits on the print sheets.
I can't speak for Tackman but the reason why I didn't start a number crunch is because BFZ was a bear to keep track of, devoid messed up the normal order the odd number of Colourless made things hard too, adding an all new rarity breakdown? The thing would be wrong more than it was right. I'll probably start again with SOI, but I just don't have the time that this set would take to keep straight.

I suppose I can do it this time. Rarity count is also annoying because it's easy to forget updating it when adding a new card.
Good looking out for this, I suppose more rares and mythics are better for power level? One question: can we use the size of prints and/or sheets to deduce how many more rares and mythics there will be, or what the possibilities are? I assume for production reasons they can't simply just pick an arbitrary number of mythics, like 11?

Yeah, and they would still likely maintain the 1 in 8 ratio like they did in Innistrad/Dark Ascension. It might even be 2 more since DKA had 2 double sided mythics.
I think the biggest news from the article is the art with the view of the TWO eldrazi titans as the centers. Pretty much confirms that Emrakul isn't in this set, therefore we are not done dealing with the eldrazi. There are so many directions they could go however, I feel they are not going to place her on Innistrad. They'll probably come back to the eldrazi in a year and some change. I'm calling April 2017
We aren't done with the eldrazi anyway. What, exactly, are they going to do right now? Lorthos got destroyed in one shot and it was the most badass creature on the plane.
OF course, now emrakul is confirmed out due to number crunching as well as an emrakul wastes due to the new oran reif being the final land.
Best I could think up:
First time they have done more than 2 sheets to do rares and mythics.
4 sheets:
1st = 5 copies of the 12 mythics and 10 copies of 6 of the rares.
2nd-4th = 10 copies of 12 of the rares.
(5*12+10*6+3*(10*12))/120 = 4 (each has 1 filler card)
1st sheet
First 6 of the mythics once, the other 6 mythics twice
First 20 rares printed 5 times
21st rare 3 times
2nd sheet
Second 6 of the mythics once, the first 6 mythics twice
21st rare either 2 or 3 times (if 2 a filler card added)
Last 20 rares printed 5 times
If done this way with a filler it should product rares and mythics at the proper ratio.

Nice! Best solution yet (each rare sheet could have just 6 mythics for the same solution). Though ratio mythic : rare isn't 1:2 any more but 3:5
Edit: You're now counting 41 rares instead of 42
I guess the commons are two sheets as well: 60 C2, 1 filler + 10 C12, 1 filler
More bulk to crap rates drives the need to crack more boxes to find the 4 to 5 standard staples everyone wants.
But, yea, I'm cynical.
I want to say you're just being too cynical, but even I can see the logic here... :/
Hopefully not tho
Meanwhile I enjoy the fact that small Magic sets can now include additional rares and mythics for custom set design purposes.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

42 rare, 12 mythic.
You're welcome.
Thank you for repeating the information I posted over an hour before you? Sure.

That is a good positive I guess also my 'casual pile o' rares' decks will flourish
