She draws, she's a discard outlet, she aggros and she board wipes
Good thing there isn't a very strong GR deck that ramps.... Oh wait.
Jund Superfriends with Nissa Flipwalker, Ob Nix and new Chandra is possible, then.
I think that might be a bit greedy to be honest. RG Eldrazi seems like a better fit because the big creatures protect her but I'm mostly spitballing here.
As a player who doesn't really get to play or buy much, I'm really liking these new common fixers. One is like a Tendo Ice Bridge you have to use immediately and the other is a Springleaf Drum of sorts
The new Nissa catches my eye. I like the fact that she's basically riding an Avenger of Zendikar. She comes down turn 3 with a 0/1 chump to boot in a format with no bolts, which means she's very likely to stick, but the question is what can you do in the current Standard with a bunch of 0/1 tokens, specially when competing with the very competent 3-drops Green has to offer in Standard like Deathmist Raptor, Den Protector (Morph) or Anafenza, the Foremost
unimpressed about Chandra. 6 CMC? whatever happened to Red being the color of speed?

Nissa is far more underwhelming in my mind although she works fantastically well with Gideon.
Two 3/1's that disappear at end of turn for 6 mana is not aggro. Nor does it make for a good planeswalker - zero protection.
It doesn't really draw so much as it wheels (Wheel of Fortune) +1 card. While card advantage in red is excellent, at 6 mana it isn't that impressive. The board wipe here is seriously overstated. She board wipes small creatures. Anything midsize (4 toughness) trades with her and 5 toughness lives.
This Chandra is bad.
Like I said
Good thing there's a deck that plays big creatures and ramps in just the right colours!
I swear to god, so many posters on here have no clue what they are talking about. Just like when Flip Jace came out and I was torn to shreds for saying that he was solid.
In fairness, I don't evaluate based on standard. I'm a cube player. I look at this in comparison to all iterations of Chandra and other Red Walkers as well as in the context of red cube archetypes. If there is a deck in standard that this slots into then that is great. Please don't assume my evaluation is rooted in ignorance when we could just be looking for different things out of these spoiled cards.
Cheers.
That's fair, she's definitely a Standard card only.
Is there a solid token deck in Standard? I was under the impression that Secure the Wastes deck had sort of fallen out of favour with the emergence of RG Eldrazi
Esper tokens with Monastery Mentor , Gideon, ally of zendikar, Ob nixilis and BW manland with blue counterspells in backup made a good performance at some GP I forgot the name
I ask because I feel Nissa is only good in token strategies and that deck doesn't even run Green
Unless she enables a Green-based token deck I say she flops for Standard. Three drop means she might actually see play in Modern in something like GW hatebears maybe?
With the actual Shell a token deck would need white as primary color, Gideon, Wingmate Roc and secure the wastes are essential, I even tried Ojutai Exemplars to see how it goes , black is for Sorin, solemn visitor spot removal and (painful truths) card draw, Hangarback Walker can go everywhere and would gladly take any counter nissa can provide, there no real reason to play green in a token deck.
Hm... I find it odd that the planeswalkers don't create the same tokens that were used in BFZ (3/1 doesn't trample, and plant is 0/1 instead of 1/1). Usually the tokens remain consistent through the block.
And the uncommon dual lands are... just lackluster at this point. (Khans block had tri-lands at uncommon and "refuges" at common...)
Also, Strip Mine is better than Wasteland, which is better than Tectonic Edge (legality issues aside), which seems funny now that they're all reprinted here, and next to each other at the end of the Expedition list.
I think the leak makes Emrakul likely considering after man lands, there should be one land left and there's conveniently a spot for emrakul's wastes. The absence of a white mythic in the set is pretty weird, though, considering we have 9/10 mythics.

Welp. Too many spoilers in one sitting for me. That Sphinx is wicked powerful, perfect for a mythic slot. Nissa is sweet. Hoping to see a GW legendary with how things are going, but the hope is a small one.
When's the last time we got a huge leak like this? NPH godbook leak comes to mind.
Technically this isn't really a spoiler. I mean everyone knew that we'd be getting more expedition lands. After the tomb spoil, it was obvious a few of them would be utility lands.
We only got a couple OGW spoils. Unlike getting the god book for NPH.
Also interesting is that Eye of Ugin, Mana Confluence and Forbidden Orchard are the only ones that don't tap for colorless mana. I think they could have found three more lands that did and have the list at least make that much sense. This also probably kills the chances of the other five Battle Lands being in OGW.

Number crunching confirms battle lands out. There's only 5 slots left and 2 will be man lands and 2 will be etbt uncommon duals. The other is likely emrakul's wastes.
Love that Strip Mine (looks like something out of Event Horizon) and Sunken Ruins. But do I trade off my FtV and pack foil for them?
No. OG foil ftw, I've already told you this before. Not to mention ugly diamond symbol. I think most people will prefer the old versions of these cards just because of that diamond.
While strip mine does look nice I am quite partial to the FTV version myself.
I on the other hand probably need to save money for a Kor Haven/Fire-lit Thicket or Heath. Beautiful...
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
In all honesty, I don't think this new Chandra is THAT bad. Chandra as a whole has been a pretty underwhelming planeswalker. Ablaze was probably one of the more interesting ones printed and Origins had a small sliver of hope. This one shakes it up a little bit and I think she'll have impact in standard. Her +1 maybe a little lackluster, but her 0 ability seems solid. Who knows though. She definitely looks better than Nissa.

True, with the fixing we have splashing for her isn't outrageous. Good point.

^Underrated post.
Interesting how the other 10 lands don't fit into complete cycles.
4 Destruction Lands
- Wasteland
- Strip Mine
- Tectonic Edge
- Dust Bowl
3 Pain Lands
- Ancient Tomb
- Mana Confluence
- Horizon Canopy
3 "Other Effects" Lands
- Eye of Ugin (which doesn't even produce mana)
- Kor Haven
- Forbidden Orchard
