So does this mean, that cards wich produced 5 will now be errata´ed to produce <><><><><> instead? That feels a bit crappy desingwise.
Pretty sure the colourless production cards have been capped at 2 haven't they? Anyway it's the same as say dark ritual - it may produce a certain mana type but that type can still be used for a generic mana cost (ie 4R)
Right, devoid is common to all Eldrazi while Ingest and colorless mana costs are exclusive to Ulamog and Kozilek respectively, with Emrakul having some other exclusive mechanic whenever she shows up again.
Hey, I never felt Emrakul to be female
I looked for it during BFZ spoilers and couldn't find it, but I swear up and down that I saw an article somewhere on the mothership during Rise that explained the male/female split between eldrazi; the ones with vaguely humanoid torsos (neck, arms, abdomen) are male, and the ones that throw that out and are just weird masses of appendages are female, which is why Emrakul is the only she among the titans.

Savage Ventmaw has 6 mana symbols for its ability and doesn't seem like bad design.
Geosurge was very poorly designed because it was just too many mana symbols. People couldn't fully grasp the function at a quick glance, they actually had to deliberately count each symbol and re-count just to make sure.... As it is, people still get confused about the CMC of Griselbrand ...

I can see the issue with Geosurge, seeing as 7 straights symbols, not to mention the 4 at the top, is a little harder to count with one look rather than the 6 evenly distributed symbols of Savage Ventmaw. How there is an issue with Griselbrand though I don't quite get.
The only cards that will receive any errata are cards that add colorless mana to your mana pool. It is not a functional change, these cards will continue to function exactly like they have up until now, the only difference is how it is written on the card.
And possibly Elemental Resonance depending on how they feel about adding generic mana to your mana pool.

Slowly breaking.
Any more of this, and Team Troll will be more than just a name.
Why would Elemental Resonance be different? It'll work the same way it did before. If you use it on a spell that costs 2GW, it'll add 2 colorless, 1 green, and 1 white. CCGW now.
To make up for the fact that they are making a cosmetic change with zero regard for the intrinsic rules headaches.
What rules headaches? This change barely touches the comprehensive rules, and has no effect on the functionality of any previously printed cards.

If I remember correctly, humans have the ability to instantly "know" how many objects are in a set if there are 5 or less. Once you have 6 or 7, you actually have to count them. If this is correct, then perhaps long strings of mana symbols should be "broken" by inserting a space somewhere...
One problem with having many mana symbols is that they kinda blur together when seen from the side. I was playing multiplayer the other night and saw a Phage The Untouchable. It looked like she had cmc6 (I'm not familiar with the card, looked like 3BBB), when it's actually 7. Everyone else took a look from the side and agreed that it looked like 3 mana symbols not 4. So there's that problem with too many symbols, tho Griselbrand is banned in EDH so he likely won't hit too many multiplayer tables.

It would be different because, as it's worded now, your example would NOT add 2 colorless. 2GW does not cost 2 colorless, it costs 2 generic. We now have a colorless mana symbol, and it's nowhere in that mana cost, so it can't be added. So the question becomes, does WotC want to allow us to add generic mana to our mana pool (currently a meaningless concept, generic mana only refers to costs), or will they issue errata to make the card function more cleanly with the new distinction between generic and colorless.

Introducing the existence of {C} in the costs of objects doesn't require that any rules pertinent to generic mana change. The same relevant rule that works now will still work once OGW is released:
107.4c Numeral symbols (such as {1}) and variable symbols (such as {X}) can also represent colorless mana if they appear in the effect of a spell or ability that reads “add [mana symbol] to your mana pool” or something similar.

... if you Elemental Resonance'd a card that cost 8GG, you would get eight colorless and 2 green mana - you would end up with CCCCCCCCGG, and could cast a Kozilek 2.0 with it. Nothing will change on older card.s
New card & mechanic = new thread
I don't think such a card even exists.
They do it for cards that produce coloured mana

The problem with Griselbrand is that his power is 7, his toughness is 7, his ability costs 7 and draws 7, and his CMC is... 8.
