Yeah my Bant Doubling season deck is going to need to make some cuts
Bant? Not Naya or Abzan? Considering the premier commanders for both those color identities in previous precons...

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
The anti-synergy with the new Ezuri is kind of strange.
Not so strange, given they're in different decks. I'd still run him in Ezuri. I mean, once you have enough experience counters and are ready for the squishing to begin in earnest.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I don't understand why people are comparing this favourably to Master Biomancer? For this to give just the same bonus that MB gives naturally, you need to sac 2 creatures and the only additional thing you get is +2/0 on the guy. Moreover, abusing him, is harder than abusing biomancer, who can go crazy with cheap, temporary boosts, while this one needs specifically +1/+1 counters to increase his bonus. I guess that in a strict tokens deck where you can reliably expect to be able to have down 3+ expendable creatures by turn 4 and then place several more right after, this is superior. Inferior anywhere else.
Also, I'm really surprised that they didn't use the second time they've come up with player counters to make new proliferate cards.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.

It can be played in decks without blue, for one. That's a big one, mind you. Also, you don't have to sacrifice anything to give it counters if you have other easy ways of adding +1/+1 counters (and just about any deck running Biomancer or Thrinax will).
In general, yes, it won't often be as strong as Biomancer. That doesn't change the fact that Simic +1/+1 counter generals can now run 2 easily abused creatures with abilities that make their future creatures extra-scary.
Also, for reference, devour gives +1/+1 counters, not +1/+0.

On phasing:
That's why I ask. Will they complement each other, or will I replace the Captain with this Thrinax?
I run Jenara, Asura of War. There's a lot of great simic cards and some really good blue cards like Inexorable Tide, and Copy Enchantment.

That's Coz it is in the GB Deck actually it is really good with Mazirek while where are at it
Kalemne's Captain -> Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
Daxos's Torment -> Daxos the Returned
Mizzix's Mastery -> Mizzix of the Izmagnus
Bloodspore Thrinax -> Meren of Clan Nel Toth
Scytheclaw -> Ezuri, Claw of Progress
There are other thematic tie-ins as well of course, such as Scourge of Nel Toth and Ezuri's Predation.
