Oh hey, a new Magus. For a brief bit, I thought it was a Magus of Nevinyrral's Disk and was a bit shocked, then I remembered there is a Magus of the Disk. When I saw the discard, then draw effect, I realized this was the Magus of Wheel of Fortune, which is a pretty epic throwback. I wonder if it'll be a cycle? Time Spiral did artifacts, Planar Chaos did lands, and Future Sight did enchantments. Perhaps C15 will do Sorceries?

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

I really like that they're going to bring back the magus cycle(hopefully) because I love the flavor that they bring. This card will be an auto include for my collection.

But this is nice for Red CMDR Decks that don't have access to blue!

Basically these Magus tend to be throwbacks of Alpha-Revised spells. Soon we'll get a Magus of the Walk for sure...
I'd expect a Magus of the Ancestors (because Magus of the Recall sounds stupid...Magus of Recollection? nah, still sounds dumb) before they printed another easily-abusable Time Walk. Granted they would probably just add the exile rider they've been putting on all the recent Time Walks and/or make him like 8 mana or something. : /
I'm wondering if we'll see any of the other maguses reprinted. Specifically would Magus of the Moon be considered too powerful for a preconstructed commander deck... On second thought maybe not, the preconstructed decks run so many basics that Blood moon probably wouldn't be too oppressive on an effect if the decks are played against each other right out of the box.

In one of the previous commander decks they reprinted Ruination, so I don't think Magus of the Moon is off limits at all.

I'm sad about this because I know that the Japanese is clearly not a direct translation and I thought this was signifying that they were willing to use more culturally specific flavor text and then just let localization teams come up with something interesting for the other languages.

Shame it's not a 2/3 or 2/4, so you can't bring it back with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. I'll probably try it there anyway, since you can get it back with Sun Titan.

Could not agree more re: Magus of Balance.
Balance itself needs to be unbanned, like, yesterday.
It's one of the best tools in the game for dealing with ramp decks.
