Beyond hyped for this, Innistrad is by far my favorite set ever. The flavor is so great and the limited environment was amazing. Those who are hoping for Lili and Snappy reprints shouldn't get too excited, since I believe MaRo (i don't have a source handy, i just remember seeing it on his tumblr, so i could be wrong about this) thinks Lili is too strong for the current standard. Also, Snappy just got the RPTQ promo treatment, and both of these cards will undoubtedly be used to push packs of Modern Masters 3. Since I'm a trash casual EDH player, I also don't care too much about power level, just as long as the cards are fun (I actually like BFZ, lots of fun stuff).
All that being said, the only thing I don't like about this announcement is that we know the Spring block already and have a whopping one spoiler for the Commander set that comes out in two weeks. I know previews start Monday, but come on. I need my fix.
Processors suddenly make a lot more sense in a future Standard with flashback. That will lead to some interesting choices. Maybe they've even gotten Forbidden working - and if it pushes forbidden cards onto the top of the library, like the miracles it was replaced with, it would get hosed by Ingest for some really wonderful cross-block syngergy.
DFCs are probably guaranteed, due to demand, but the flavor will probably be somewhat shifted, now that the cursemute is in effect.
The Raven Man, see Liliana. He's baiting Liliana into something, and he'll show up when she does.
Garruk, see Liliana again. He's chasing Lily and planeswalkers more generally.
Sorin, maybe? He's got a right to be there, but we don't know where he went after waking Ugin.
Ugin, plausible. The Multiverse is at stake, Sorin flaked, and Nahiri is missing. Innistrad is probably his best lead for finding either.
Nahiri, unlikely. She was last seen when she left Zendikar to find Sorin... but that was one thousand years ago. However, she's the only white 'walker on this list.
Ashiok, plausible. Ashiok wants to make amazing nightmares, and this plane's got the fuel.
The rest: Unlikely. No plausible story connections known at this point.
As a dedicated Limited player, this makes me happy. I know the odds are against them capturing lightning in a bottle again, the way they did with original Innistrad limited, but some of the mechanical space associated with Innistrad naturally lends itself to good drafting. It also feels like they're coming out of their RTR-Theros slump in terms of Limited design, with 3xKhans being a very good draft format and 3xBFZ being outstanding. (Yes, green is bad, but that's really my only complaint about the Limited, and people forget that 3xInnistrad didn't actually have great color balance, and it was still one of the all-time great draft formats)
Not only can wizards not invest in proper infrastructure for their online mtg but I have to say that pretty much all the videos they put out where there's some kind of cgi are just crap to look at. I mean it's not that hard to make higher quality stuff...come on guys.
Hopes:
>Heavy tribal support, ONS Heavy.
>Male angels and female demons.
>Legends-driven story rather than Planeswalkers-driven story.
Let's be honest with ourselves. These will not happen. And what's with the obsession with male angels?
>Good removal.
Define this. Are we talking Bolt or Path good, which we know is not happening, or Doom Blade and Lightning Strike good, which is very probable?
What's wrong with hot male angels lol 😁, even a Tragic Slip reprint would be nice, or an even more nerfed StP/PtE type card. This does seem like an opportunity to reprint Cavern, it's a much better card in eternal than in standard, especially since this will come in as KtK/FrF rotate out taking pretty much all the decent tribal builds with them (Excluding Allies but that needs all the help it can get lol). People need to be realistic and accept that LoTV/Snapcaster will never be reprinted in standard in all likelihood, LoTV is the more likely of the two as it was confirmed they were thinking about it when M15 was in development but it was too strong in the existing meta. Geist/Avacyn/Huntmaster/Olivia all seem fair enough that they could be possible.
So, they stall the spoilers for Commander because they would interfere with the exposure of Battle for Zendikar. And then they announce this the day before the spoilers for Commander start?

I mean, they might have put out the trailer for a horror set on Halloween on purpose. Heck, before the switch to the Two-Block Paradigm, it would've been a fall set just to hammer that home.

I don't care for Halloween. That's an American thing.
I was wondering if the flashback mechanic was going to to make a return soon. It, like delve, can also feed your opponent's processors and has the potential to be a interesting double edged sword for both sides. However, this is entirely depends on if Oath of the Gatwatch has playable processors.
I am hoping for flashback as well, but I bet we'll get the other flashback with Unearth.
I am hoping for Oversold Cemetery, as it would make the most sense on this plane. I'm still surprised it wasn't in the block the first time around.
The theory that Nahiri is Avacyn could be connected to this somehow, but I'm not sure exactly how. Also, I don't think a Liliana of the Veil reprint is coming as Wizards said they had tested her for M15, and had been way too powerful, despite designing hate cards in Karns.
@Dontrike Oversold Cemetery is extremely strong, yes Palace Siege does the same thing without the restriction but it costs 3BB instead of 1B. In any Bx aggro/midrange deck Cemetery is bonkers, I doubt it will be reprinted into standard.
@AussieMTG The big issue with LoTV in testing while they developed M15 was Mono-Black Devotion was Tier 1 and LoTV made it plain broken. I still highly doubt it will see a reprint in standard anytime soon, if ever, but the reason for keeping it out of M15 is no longer around.
How could Nahiri possibly be Avacyn? As far as we know, Sorin created Avacyn ages ago, and we know Nahiri was still Nahiri until "relatively" recently. It just doesn't make sense.

Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.

All removal will cost at least six. All counters will cost at least seven, and will only counter one type of spell. Discard will start at 5 mana. Lando won't exist.
Because that's TOTALLY what MaRo has said would happen.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Something something vampire badstuff Nahiri is Avacyn.
It's a hell of a stretch that works only because they're the only two female characters with an association with Sorin. Ugin's dialogue indicates that Avacyn likely predates the sealing of the Eldrazi, so barring further evidence, I'd consider the topic dead.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next card to get the "Too good for Standard" threatment is Duress.

A comment by Ugin puts a substantial hole in that theory.
Not to be pedantic, but it existed in various forms well before America was a thing.

According to MaRo everything is too good for standard, so I wouldn't even get my hopes up for Doom Blade, but Diabolic Edict, Grasp of Darkness, Oblivion Ring, Condemn and Flame Slash could have prevented the current goodstuff.dck metagame.
