The Bone splinters and blisterpod combo looks good. Still this could have been a really fun block if they just made ramping easier. It certainly would make you feel like their is a life and death fight where time is of the essence.
Looks like that Bitterblossom processor-enchantment that was rumored but written off as fake actually does exist (sort of), but it's a green devoid creature: Void Attendant. With a Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace in play, you can get as many ETB triggers as you have green mana each turn. GW Tokens or Soul Sisters?
A 2 cards combo weak to anti creature and bolt that do an ETB effet for G wow, frightening!
No seriously that stinks ^^
Yeah, I know it stinks, ha. I just was surprised that the rumored card sort of existed when we thought it was fake. I wish it was an enchantment, but that would have made it too similar to From Beyond, I guess.
I hate our replacement burn. no 2 mana ones, but Touch of the Void seems to be the best one, though stonefury is pretty ok too, especially in ramp decks
Swell of Growth is pretty fricking amazing for landfall. if a Zoo landfall deck pops up with Scythe Leopard, i wouldnt' be surprised to see this in them
I hate converge and the fact that it represents GU. I guess we have a decent amount of fixing to at least get 3 colors like the frickin THREE MANA ELF and the GU uncommon will always be at least a 2/2 flier and always efficient for its cost
can someone remind me how often full-arts will appear? that's probably where the money value of this set will be and i might just buy a box for the neato lands
I don't get Standard guys. If cards are worse they're gonna be cheaper. Standard shall challenge your deck building abilities with limited number of cards, not netdecking and wallet size.
I enjoyed Eldrazi Spawns before and I feared I would get ditched on this set. But this last batch of stuff shown some nice eldrazi scion spawners. Now instead of getting 3/3 and 3 spawns I can get 3/3 and 3 scions for the same cost which is A LOT better. Plus a 1 drop eldrazi and other stuff. I am happy to buy lots of commons and uncommons and I am thrilled for limited this time again.
EDIT: And nobody really noticed INSTANT RAMPART GROWTH FOR 3 in form of Natural Connection? Shame on you cuz this is bat***** crazy of a card.

The problem is that even they are worse some of them won't be cheaper because they will still have demand due the fact we won't have chocie but to use mutch underwhelming cards, cards that will only be used in Standard, a format that is rotating sooner then before.
Hopefully i'm wrong and that card prices doesn't increase
As others have mentioned, I was shocked there was no Volcanic Hammer or the like. Its clearly a brave new world. Still working through the spoiler, but I think Halimar Tidecaller maybe the most intriguing card that wasn't spoiled previously.
Oh....and Zulaport Cutthroat. Omg. Its Blood Artist 2.0
Yep, a strictly worse blood artist.
Not strictly worse. Blood Artist hits one opponent, while Cutthroat hits all of them. Blood Artist is for when any creature dies, while Cutthroat is only for yours. They have similar functions, but one is not strictly worse than the other.
BFZ feels more like a bad Rise of Eldrazi than Zendikar. They have failed to catch the theme of Kors, Merfolks, Vampires, Eqipments and especially Trap cards. And Allies are not even close enough to the previous ones.
I mainly play kitchen table magic and modern when it comes to constructed, so i ask: Is limited such a blast to dedicate a whole set in it? I never understood its popularity, really.
Now, about standard. The decision of slowing the format is clearly conscious. They want to test the waters and make sure the big creatures of the set do see some play. Fair enough.
Which means cards made for fast format like Goblin Guide will be reprinted in side products like duel decks and commander products. I hope they do watch the demand and prices of those cards at least.
Lack of color fixing for Converge is horrific, lack of black token makers in black for its sacrifice sub-theme is dissapointing, but at least you can try to go green for its plethora of token making (Sac-Scions.deck). The lack of instants is bad, seems to be slipping closer and closer to only creatures matter. Maybe Wizards has started the final push of cutting non-creature spells from the game?

For edh I actually like this guy a bit better. My Teysa deck just gained another win-con
Now, I'm not saying that WotC is killing Magic. With all of these games, if somebody gets too greedy and alienates too many players, then even the whales go away and the game dies. So, they have to keep the casual spenders playing it, and they know that. But, realize that if you're the kind of player that cracks a couple boosters of every new set, or just buys a single fat pack, you're not the target audience for Magic anymore.
Interesting thought. Considering that, I'm no longer the target audience for Magic, because WotC pushed me away.
If they don't want my money, then well, I won't give it to them.
It does make me wonder how tightly Hasbro is pulling the strings, and when Hasbro is going to toss WotC to the side like a used condom behind a Taco Bell dumpster.
I was wondering if Rush of Ice depicted an Emrakul lineage, but then I scrolled down to see Vestige of Emrakul. I wondered why we got Kozilek's when it's supposed to only be Ulamog. I don't know if they are saving the other Titans for a future set or they will show up in Oath. My guess is that Jace's difference of opinion with Ugin will be setting up any future Eldrazi appearance(s).
Not strictly worse. Blood Artist hits one opponent, while Cutthroat hits all of them. Blood Artist is for when any creature dies, while Cutthroat is only for yours. They have similar functions, but one is not strictly worse than the other.
Strictly worse in most format, does that seems more precise to you? I never played in a format where you had more than one opponent
So in most formats 1 attack is worse than 0 attack? And what Blood Artist deck did you play that does focus on killing its opponents' creatures? The aristocrats deck in Standard had no removal except for Orzhov Charm, which was used to recurr 1 drops at instant speed.

Anticipate reprint so soon is weird, but probably necessary
new Dispel art is frickin sweet
Halimar Tidecaller is clever.. might have to revamp my cube to include her and make Awaken a GU subtheme or something
Spell Shrivel as a bigger mana leak? Izzet commanders won't mind this. If i get around to making counterburn i wouldn't mind putting this in either
Good to see Altar's Reap and bone splinters back! the only thing missing is Mulch
dutiful return? reprint game strong.
i like how zulaport cutthroat synergizes with Smothering Abomination and other cards like it. silly traitor human
I can't believe they made a red Nettle Sentinel!
I hate our replacement burn. no 2 mana ones, but Touch of the Void seems to be the best one, though stonefury is pretty ok too, especially in ramp decks
INSTANT DEMOLISH???

I am not sure I agree with 'bad Rise of the Eldrazi', but certainly it reflects more of RoE than ZEN... because RoE changed the plane of Zendikar.

Dracnoic Roar needs a guy on the field and a dragon in your hand/field which isn't typical in a low curve mono red deck.
