I find it funny that Sheppard did the art for Shepherd.
It's cute, but not as strange as Boros Charm being done by Zoltan Boros.
This angel is SWEET!
She would be nice even without all the combo potential.
With it, she's one of the better Rares in the set
(not like that's saying much).

I was just thinking to myself today, "you know, I really need another Reya Dawnbringer-type effect in my Brion EDH...". And lo and behold, here we are!
So most of the cycle is weak, and then there is this. This really seems like it should be a mythic, it's ability is Sun Titan's without the restriction but with a different trigger. It also has a decent amount of complexity (evidenced by multiple people who have posted wrong interpretations of the ability). This feels much more mythic than several of the mythics we have gotten.
Had this been at 5 mana it would have been sweet, at 4 it would have been playable in modern, at 7 it's just another bulk rare.
are you crazy? printing this at 5 let alone 4 cmc would be stupid broken.
How so exactly. Wow you get a plains out of your graveyard when you hit a land drop, which lets you get another card to your hand? Man that is totally game breaking. It would be a solid card and might push white into playable, but nothing is broken at 5 or 4 mana about this card. You get some stuff out of the yard, but unless its a land you have to recast it. It's fine.
You misread the card. If you play a non-plains land, you can return any nonland card to your hand. If the land that you played was a plains, you may return any nonland card directly to the battlefield. This isn't landfall eternal witness, this is landfall eternal witness that upgrades to Sun Titan without the restriction. This would be stupid broken at 4-5. It would wreck standard (especially with fetches to trigger instantly), and be the best value 4-drop in modern. At 5 it would still be good in Modern, but probably not banned (5cmc is a terrible place to be in modern)
At 7, this is an EDH staple in any monowhite or W/G deck (and considered for a lot more decks), too expensive for Modern, and questionable for standard (too expensive in most standard formats, but a format slow enough for eldrazi might allow it).
Lol...You also misread the card. It can only get nonland permanents. Not nonland cards, so no removal retrieving.
I actually agree with you that it is a good card I just thought it was funny that you were mentioning how many other people misinterpreted the card then did the same thing.
If you get her on your board before you drop a land for the turn, there is no way for the opponent to stop her ability. You have priority to play a land, and if your opponent is stupid enough to fire off removal in response to the Landfall ability, she can pull herself back from the grave (assuming you dropped a Plains and there's nothingbetter to pull back from your graveyard).

Actually, you can't, as you need to choose a target when you put the ability on the stack.

The part about returning the permanent to the Battlefield is optional, so even if you play a Plains you could return Quarantine Field to your hand and recast it.

BTW totes not terrible but still totally unoptimal.
So has anyone mentioned a Reya Dawnbringer EDH deck that runs every White Reanimator spell and tons of value creatures and board wipes? I'd do it if I had the money with the only Non-Plains land being Emeria, the Sky Ruin
I wonder how this would work in eggs. Could be interesting comboed with Faith's Reward and some way to sacrifice lands. I guess you could probably do stuff by reanimating Twilight Shepherd as well.
A bit too expensive for anything constructed, I think, but I can see her being a commander all-star. Sakura-tribe elder says "hi, here's every basic plains in your deck."
So, you can play this and a land this turn, you have a fetch and a plains in your hand, do you play this and the plains or go greedy with your fetch and take the risk of just getting a card to your hand ?
This one is a game-winner in EDH. She doesn't play well as a Dread Return target in an Oops All Spells-type lineup due to the landfall conflicting with the Gatecrash creatures' mill ability. Goryo's Vengeance could be nasty if you have some way of putting a bunch of dudes in the yard and a way to bounce your lands.

These days, some wizards are finding they have a little too much deck left at the end of their $$$.

But, but guys. Whim of Volrath . What land restrictions? I mean, her, Sakura tribe elder, whim, and 6 open mana = every basic in your deck yo. Suck on that, Trebeck
Probably a bit expensive for standard play but I can't wait to try this out in EDH and would love to open it in sealed (or maybe even draft if the format is slow enough).
Returning non land permanents to hand or play is a powerful ability especially when combined with lands that fetch other lands. Something like play this, play Ghost Quarter, sacrifice GQ targeting your own Ruins of Trokair fetching 2 plains returning 1 non land permanent to hand and 2 to play would make for a huge swing in position and if you really wanted to up the stakes then returning permanents like Solemn Simulacrum to fetch more plains would be particularly strong.
My favorite card of the set by far! In EDH combos with Sun Titan as long as you have a sac outlet, white fetch, enough plains in your deck and life (lot's of if's). With Claws of Gix it's probably the other way around

Yes, no white removal exists on pernaments... Not as if Stasis Snare or Quarantine Field exist.
big, expensive angel with a really strong landfall trigger.
it could have a bigger body, but it's a really cool card.
Use a non plains land, it comes to hand. IE with the fetch
Also (in EDH/Older formats) Fiend Hunter any of the sac to destroy and enchantment/artifact creatures, and that's just in mono-w, once you get into Shriekmaw/Flametongue Kavu/Avalanche Riders/fulminator Mage there is lots of fun to be had.
Actually, I am really looking forward to running this in my Alesha, Who Smiles at Death EDH
