Instant-speed, extremely versatile removal and includable in any Commander deck in existence. It might cost 7 but that won't be too big of a deal in Commander. This might be a staple.
No way will this be a staple. It's barely playable at 7. At this point it's going to hard to compete with some of the cheaper, easier to abuse, removal. Mono black might want this but other than that... Nah.
It's colorless and at common, it'll be easily available to anyone and everyone. I frequently play in a Commander League that has a wide range of decks, many of which are built without any cards that exceed $5 or $10. Those decks are going to run this card. If you're optimizing or if you're considering a curve, then yeah, it's not the next big thing.

I agree, most decks dont need unconditional exile. Its possibly playable in mono green and mono black but I dont think I would outside of them.
It happens to fit nicely in my Toshiro Umezawa deck. I feel like that is a bit of an outlier though. I feel like it could be ok in like an Omnath or Azusa deck as well.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
So often when a card is underpowered and ridiculously overcosted people will go "Playable in EDH!" like somehow all inflated mana costs make something viable in that format.
Well, despite that 7, this really IS viable in EDH. In particular, mono green decks love this card as a universal answer to problem cards. If this was a sorcery, it would just be a worse Karn Liberated, but that instant speed is highly relevant.

Mana costs are more or less irrelevant in commander, and this gives every deck an answer to any permanent; arrifacts or enchantments in black or red, creatures in blue or green... Sure, it's not efficient, but if my opponent is trying to pull off some doubling season or mana reflection shenanigans, I'd much, much rather have this than have no answer at all.
I've been saying for awhile that I would love for black to get a spell-based answer to problem artifacts and enchantments in EDH. Black's own Desert Twister.
Yeah I think this card is actually rather huge it gives colors like red/black ways to deal with enchantments besides nuking the board. I'm pretty sure those colors have never had that type of interaction barring Karn or something.

This is not true at all. For example: "...if my opponent is trying to pull off some doubling season or mana reflection shenanigans and I have to pay 7 to deal with it, I probably lost and should have played something that cost less than 7 to take them out."
MonoRed and MonoBlack need enchantment removal, sure, but there aren't many instances where this will be the best answer.
*casually slides into every EDH deck*
Like, is this preferable? No. If I could get a Desert Twister in every color, I'd be happy. But now, Grimgrin, Corpse-Born can deal with artifacts and enchantments? YAY!
I like it for a common. Probably fair because any lower it might hit the color pie too much. It basically allows Black and Red to actually hit enchantments. Granted it will cost a buttload, at least they have an options now instead of just taking enchantments to the teeth.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

'Well Desert Twister is only a 1 mana reduction for sorcery speed and not an exile, I think paying one more mana for this is fine for the bonuses of being colorless+instant+exile.

Only complaint about this card is I wish there had been some notable story moment in the art, rather than whatever random barbarian that is. Maybe increase the scale by showing it destroying a whole encampment or a mountain or something. And I'd rather there was no flavor text (or at least not the generic lameness that is there). Looking forward to the inevitable full art promo version of this.
yeah that's why stasis snare and ruinous path cost 3...oh wait..

The flavor of some of these mechanics are fairly odd. Ugin land helps you cast big Eldrazi. Eldrazi spell help you blow up Eldrazi. Hmm.

Well, not at instant speed. There have been plenty of colorless cards that could destroy any permanent at this price before, but always at sorcery speed. Spine of Ish Sah, Karn Liberated, Argentum Armor, Lux Cannon, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, Unstable Obelisk.
