MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Well if you have other colorless creatures, it can stay on the field. I guess that is the reason for the bump in rarity?
Is that even really a good thing, though? Isn't Dash just superior to this in almost every way because you get to dictate whether or not it sticks around?
This set is so odd. I have not really seen much where I can definitively understand where you'd want to play it. It's not even like most other sets these days, where you could say "It's good in EDH," because not a whole lot of these cards even are.
Pretty solid if your aggro deck has colorless creatures anyways. If you are already playing Eldorado aggro, a hasty 5/x is a pretty strong 4-drop. Drawn late game, it can dodge removal and swing hard if you have the mana. It's dash mode is similar to other cards that weren't great, but being able to stick is a pretty strong change. Not an amazing card, but very possibly a role player (IF there is a colorless matters deck that isn't ramp).
I've seen people play Pitiless Horde to reasonable effect in constructed; the card is not awful, even if it hasn't quite gotten there in the current Standard. I dunno how much you'd want another four of them, though.
If you're thinking about this *instead of Horde, you really need to have a strong colorless theme to make this comparable, but that makes building around this super hard. I don't really see the point of the design. If I wanted to play this card, I already could have done. Rares that are basically photocopies of rares that already exist in all the same formats are super lame.
There might be some kind of thopter/eldrazi deck to take advantage of all the colorlessness. It doesn't have to be a Devoid creature if you want him to stick around, Hangerback and his friends work.
Ghostfire Blade exists. Being colorless matters here. I'm not sure it'll be good enough, but RB aggro with devoid and naturally colorless Eldrazi and Hangarback Walker seems like an obvious contender.
im calling it here caw blade/delver/aggro control archatype has returned.
U B R grixis aggro control will rule the format i mean turn one evolving wilds or a tapped land turn 2 basic land or shivian reaf or one of the fetch lands into a mist intruder or the depths fathomer then use counter and kills draw spells and two of this guy and ulamogs nullifier as the creature base. the land base is going to be around 21 lands and if they print man lands in these colors run them within those numders. Put board wipes and ghost fire blade and sword of the animist along with somthing good equipment and in the right proportions.
no other deck can win but it will be that way i started play when original zendikar spoiler season started im seeing the same signs minus stone forged mystic and the swords with was a huge deal and will hurt the deck. The format will be slower.
aggro deck wont be fast enough. The control deck wont be able to handle these deck effcently with out a turn two kill spell that can handle the colorless creatures this card will see play as a two of in this deck for a mid to late game play and will ethier doge the sorcery speed removal like ruinous path or will be used later when you have the counters or you oppent has run out of gas midrange may be the only other deck we might see because it might have the speed along with bigger threats
Hmm, seems alright. Dragons could probably do B/R better, but this Eldrazi build seems pretty aggressive. For it to be a Standard threat, it would need more pieces.
EDIT: I also believe this may be the first Emrakulian Eldrazi we've seen so far. It looks like they changed their design a little to have more bony latticework than the fleshy versions in rise.
I think this guy is an Ulamog eldrazi. It has a bony face plate, a branching arm, and smooth, trailing tentacles on its lower body. Ulamog eldrazi tend to have at least two of those traits and this guy has all three. Emrakul's lineage usually has more knobbly tentacles, and the fleshy latticework they have is pretty different - you can usually see into the empty space in their bodies. Dust Staker has red flesh underneath, making his lattices more like armor.
It is weird to see an Ulamog minion without a blank, bony surface for a face, or with latticed bone structures covering its body. Honestly it kind of looks like an Emrakul/Ulamog hybrid, but I'm not going to suspect Emrakul is involved unless I see another of her eldrazi somewhere. For now I'm going to assume they added a little variety to Ulamog's lineage since almost all of this set's eldrazi seem to be his.

It goes awesome with ghost fire blade, and Titans Presence.
I'll play this card, and it's better than the compared cards by quite a bit because it's colorless, and it's an eldrazi.
Can you use ghost fire blade, or Titans presence, with Sprinting Warbrute, pitiless horde, or Viashino Cutthroat? Hmmm?
