GL to people who bought the zenkidar boxes and pray the lottery gods might give you an expedition land or atleast a planeswalker/Ulamog
You are forgetting this set has at the very least 5 lands that will see play in standard, that are brand new. I'm sure this set will have at least a few rares that impact standard we haven't seen a set that did NOTHING to standard in a long time.
Especially when that set is the first set in a block, I mean Dragon's Maze had very few cards impact standard but it was the 3rd set in RTR block.
None of the BfZ cards have horrible CGI art. In fact several are painted then digitally scanned. If you want "horrible CGI" look at Aven Trooper and Frantic Purification. We've come a long way.
Noyan Dar makes for an interesting (read: really freaking annoying) commander. I think if there's a hardcore UW Control deck to be built for Standard, this is its finisher (turning all your counterspells and spot removal into bodies is beyond ideal).
Endless One might be the perfect Limited card. Always efficient at any mana cost, fills every possible hole in your curve, fits into any deck. You're going to be really, really hard-pressed to take anything over this. In Modern he enables FootstepsHulk with Hangarback Walker and Blood Artist. Bonkers in EDH with Rakdos, Lord of Riots and/or Animar. Casual, he's a free 2/2 with Eye of Ugin. If you're complaining about this one, you just want to hear yourself talk.
I don't see why people would complain about Endless One being Rare.
For Limited, the only format that really cares much about rarity, it being Uncommon would have been a bit much, it being colorless and always being in the curve.
Pretty much this. It's kind of amazing to see people not really understand how much work it takes to balance a game.
When I started reading Endless One, I was almost POSITIVE that it would have a secondary ability of "Remove two +1/+1 counters from Endless One: Put a 1/1 colorless Eldrazi Scion creature token onto the battlefield. It has 'Sacrifice this creature: Add 1 to your mana pool.'"
I mean, c'mon, just look at the thing. It looks like Scions are growing out of its body and detaching themselves to become independent lifeforms of their own. It would be cooler if it could generate a Scion by removing only one counter, but that would make it WAY too easy to jump the curve and cheat out something like Desolation Twin or Breaker of Armies.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
The lands are amazing like last time around in Zendikar, and that Merfolk doesn't look too shabby, the 4/4 body is a welcome surprise, those controllish utility creatures tend to be 2/3 or 3/3 bodies for 4-5 CMC, but this guy is capable of tanking some hits, combine it with the hexproof manland for more fun.
That Eldrazi though...gotta love all the abilities it comes with,I can't believe that thing is rare, it's still a freaking vanilla creature no matter how flexible the casting cost is.
It still sucks opening that rare if it's a pack you have bought not for Limited,in Limited it obviously deserves to be a rare, who knows? Maybe it started out as an Uncommon during playtesting, just like the old Bane of the Living before it became evident it was too powerful.
So something that just dawned on me today is that the Merfolk is stupid good with Jeskai Ascendancy. I know most cards are good with the Ascendancy but the synergy with being able to turn you lands into creatures to untap them with ascendancy with things like serum visions and other cantripping spells that can keep your hand full is kind of stupid (after turning your lands you can sphinx's revelations for free, or any other spell, like Cryptic Command). In a single turn you can burn through several spells and end up hitting hard with your lands after a well placed Cryptic comand to tap them down and still have mana up for counters or other ticks if you need it. Even worse you can leave maybe even one mana up and cast lightning bolt to untap everything to play some counter magic or even Boros Charm if they are trying to wrath. This card is a lot more playable then i thought it was at first glance.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.

I'm sorely disappointed now.
