I actually love the little Dragonmaster that could, and I will build some fun decks with him. Mythic is fine as well, because like many have said, playable mythical equal wallet destroyers.
I'm more than okay with reprints in the face of core sets going away.
However Maro has talked about giving people what they expect. If we're revisiting Zendikar I guess I expected some Modern staple reprints from the original block. Inquisition being a good example, but of course there are many others.
Everyone is complaining and there is only 83 spoiled. There not gonna dump the surprise yet.
I bet the last week will blow us away.
Well, I suppose you could call it complaining? If it helps I'm beyond stoked to play BFZ sealed and draft. Mostly I was grousing about having to spend 50 bucks on a play set of an uncommon card I once owned dozens of, but was lost in an ugly divorce process, and was hoping would be in this set. Lol.
I guess, if I have any real complaint it's that these slow rolling spoilers are killing my brewing.
It's magic, it's big rotation time, it's a new set, and I'm excited. No hate here.
Yeah, Ojutais command could be a little disgusting and awesome with Dragonmaster, good catch.
Ouch! Counter your bomb and reanimate Dragonmaster is such a beating.
EoT reanimate and draw with 6 lands in play is pretty strong. Reanimate and 4 life could even win you the game in rare cases. I think people are being pretty narrow with this guy, he's a great reprint in the current standard. I find it pretty funny how people have been whining about a lack of good 1 drops. This is a great 1 drop.
The art is pretty good in my opinion. Good there are still cards that don't like like WoW-screenshots (like the atrocious art for Kolaghan's Command with that ghastly pink MS-paint garbage) or images of Disney-movie characters (like Jeskai Ascendancy).
I don't mind the art itself either, but this means they have changed the art policy on non-coreset reprints and that upsets me on a deeply irrational level.
On a more serious note, I'm always a fan of new art. If someone prefers the old art, they can use that one. More art means more options.
Ok, I can sympathize with this sentiment, but only to a certain degree. Some artworks are so iconic that printing the card with a different artwork would be a crime (like Damnation, for instance). Maybe WotC felt that way about the Dragonmaster.

I sure hope that you're right. So far the only thing I'm particularly interested in are the dual lands and Gideon.
I thought we were downshifting these sort of reprint kinda-exciting Mythic cards now (Felidar Sovereign, Gaea's Revenge, etc)? It's a cool card and I don't have a copy for Commander yet, so that's something, but I don't remember this doing a thing in Standard the first time around and to see it Mythic again is a bit meh.
Why would you want mythics to do a thing in standard? Do you like $30 mythics? I rather see rares doing a lot of stuff in standard and mythics being big & bomby or plain weird for casual play.
because SOME mythics always do.
I'd rather have all mythics to be niche cards so the pricetag wouldn't skyrocket, but there will always be those 30 bucks mythic staples.
So, I'd rather see every mythic to be a powerful playable cards than having a couple broken playable and other junk mythics.
Opening a junk mythic feels REALLY bad because power mythics exist.
if all of them were interesting niche cards, it would be alright opening a "junk" one.
they're not.

Again, No more core sets will mean less new art in non core sets. Art is probably one of WotC's biggest expenses in new set creation, core set reprints must have been a huge money saver.
I'm glad they didn't change the art at least, I love it too much.
I think this is the fist time outside of a core set we've seen a mythic reprint. Guess they had literally no idea what to give red this time around, and a big stupid unplayable enchantment might've made people too angry.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
It's a $15 card that has no business being that pricey, so it getting reprinted is a good thing. It's a shame they didn't downgrade it to rare like Felidar Sovereign, but so far I'm liking this new reprint policy and who knows where it'll end up...

That's what they want you to think. The bulk of the set has been spoiled. Only junk left.

What I mean by "bulk" is rares and mythics.
So far the uncommons have been a hell of a lot more interesting than the rares. Hopefully that continues.

I think it'll end up at a "semi-reserved" list for cards that actually need to be reprinted. As far as I can tell the new reprint policy is "We reprint cards but only the unimportant ones. If you need goyfs or cliques, you're out of luck".

This is rather fun to see back. It will have a different impact on Standard now compared to before because of its compatibility with DTK. Dragons every turn for free? Yay!

This is the mythic everyone was clamoring for in Modern Masters 2015 intead of Comet Storm, right? Nice job Wizards, apparently it is indeed impossible to please players!
That's because we don't expect cards like this to be reprinted in a set mostly made for new cards, we do however expect it to be in a set made entirely of reprints.
"Hey guys, remember how Ravnica was awesome? Yeah we're bringing back... some... of it! You buy now!"
"Hey guys, remember how Zendikar was awesome? Yeah we're bringing back... some... of it! You buy now!"
EVERY TIME!
And this is hilarious considering this card got inflated in price not so long ago. Speculators will make this card price plummet!
I hope Wizards keep the reprints coming.
