I am a very old school player, and I don't want Overrun on a stick; I just want Overrun.
I feel like some old geezer sometimes but how are staples like bolt, one mana elves, birds, fling, overrun, etc... Too powerful? I don't get it.
Okay. I do like the card though. It's an engine that lets your little guy deck compete, and looks great with Gideon. I wish the card itself had haste, but good in limited and maybe a nice synergy card for constructed. Kind of reminds me of Craterhoof if I squint at it. BG Ally Reanimator lol.
I like this. I actually like the art too. And on that note, I'm not a fan of the various eldrazi art so far. But only because seeing so many of Ulamog's brood diminishes their distinctness.

Times change; cards go through cycles of power. Mana dorks are so much more powerful than they used to be because these days we're ramping to Atarka/Ugin and playing must-answer threats like Goblin Rabblemaster on turn 2. Powerful spells have given way to powerful creatures, and as that happens cards that used to be completely fair have to be evaluated in a new context. Also, some of the cards you listed are still very fair, but aren't seeing print simply to shake things up and keep limited interesting.
For what it's worth though, I think this could be even better than Overrun, because it's an Overrun that your opponent needs to spend removal on lest it happen again, and again, and again.

I do hear you, and I suppose variety is the spice of life. However, turn 1 dark ritual into hypnotic specter and saying, "you better have an answer," isn't exactly new.

That's kind of the point; fast mana is a fundamentally broken part of the game that only gets more powerful as the targets improve. They stopped printing Moxen and Rituals because they were enabling too many powerful plays. Then Combo Winter happened, and stuff like Mana Vault was deemed too good. Affinity happened, and that whole mechanic was deemed a mistake. Now creatures have become so impactful and cheap 2-for-1s have become so easy to come by, the winners are those who can put their opponents on the back foot as soon as possible.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
You know what I'm going to enjoy doing? Rite of Replication kicking on this girl, that'll be fun, 6 instance of 5 times two for +60/+60 with any haste giving effects is down right scary.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
But seriously, I'm very curious to see how BFZ limited will look like with repeatable overruns (very repeatable with Retreat to Emeria) and uncommon 6/6 for 6 colourless mana with recursion. Forget the rare bombs, the uncommons are already nuts.

I know right ?
But cards like Gideon's Reproach at common makes me think the removal will be better, compared to Origins, Theros and Tarkir block.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this triggers when it etb. So it's really a 4/3 for 5 that gives all your other dudes +2/+2 eot. Yeah, it's weak afterwards, but if they waste a kill-spell on it, that's fine. Considering you can stack by dropping two cheap allies next turn or something, to get +4/+4 for everyone?
This is not a bad card. It dies to removal with or without pump, and it's not for defense.
People, it's a repeatable mini-overrun. At uncommon, it has to cost 5 or it would be absurdly broken in limited. With just 3 2/2's in play, when you play it you get to attack for 12, and then the following turn if you have any way to make an ally you get to attack for 16. That's a pretty good way to end games. Depending on how many ways there are to kill one toughness creatures, this could be a pretty absurd limited card.
I play it, I swing with previous guys. Next turn I untap and play another ally, or even multiple allies and start winning games.
This card pretty much has to die the turn it comes down otherwise it turns every other creature in the ally deck into some crazy anthem/overrun kind of deal.
Dies to removal is not an argument for a card in limited as all creatures do. This is obviously not a constructed card, it doesn't give them trample and the 2/1 is inefficient.
This card is good in the allies deck in limited. End of story.

It's not misguided. They're lopsided, and deserve to die.

I know a few decks that'll enjoy this little card, and I for one look forward to it destroying me frequently in Limited.
It can't kill it, actually.
