If there is a event deck then there won't be a clash pack. They are rotating between them. I don't think they are discontinued. I don't see it, but there probably is a event deck.
BFZ has an Event deck, and they are supposed to alternate. Besides, there's no Event Deck in the announcements either.
Possible they could be going back to the old system where the event/clash pack gets released later. Also possible they're adding a third thing to the cycle, and simply not announcing it yet (unlikely, but it will mean that the cycle won't get stuck as "Large gets event, small gets clash".) Last option is simply they've missed it off for some reason.
Maybe they are heeding my 3 year old advice and not associating clash packs and possibly future event decks with a set. That way, without the set association, the contents can be taken from any standard legal set without having to have most of the cards from the newest set. Could you even imagine the complaints I saw here when they released a Gatecrash event deck, and there were only a couple Gatecrash cards in it?
Or was it Dragon's Maze? I remember there was one event deck that had a few cards from the set that it was supposed to be associated with, and I suggested that Event Decks and Clash Packs should not be set associated so the decks aren't forced to have the majority of cards from the set they are associated with.
I think it was Dragon's Maze. It had 9 Dragon's maze cards, and only 3 different cards from Dragon's Maze in the entire deck + sideboard. There might be another event deck that had very little cards from the set they were associated with, but I don't remember which one.
There's no Event Deck announced for Shadows over Innistrad, either. There's a Deck Builder's Toolkit and a Gift Box, though.
Contents of the Gift Box:
* 5 Shadows over Innistrad booster packs
* Storage Box with capacity for over 2,000 Magic cards
* 20 Shadows over Innistrad basic lands
* 6 illustrated plastic dividers
* Sticker sheet for customizing the dividers
* 1 Alternate art card from the Shadows over Innistrad set
Could it be that the Clash Packs are going to be combined with Planeswalker Duel Decks to accomodate for Block Preview Duel Decks?

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Of course they will be! They were decks that were fun, well constructed and most importantly, actually gave players good value and good cards! Can't have that.
As long as hoarders and speculators exist, all precon products will have bad value.
It's either make the deck have low value, but as a result, not tournament worthy enough, or make the deck have good value, and have the hoarders and speculators buy them all up, and as a result, have game stores jack up the price.
Or maybe event decks and clash packs aren't set associated anymore, like I suggested a long time ago, because the product doesn't really focus on the set, like intro packs do.
Clash packs always felt rather similar to Duel Decks in concept, only with more goodstuff and less flavor. The more I think about it, the more probable the concept of Planeswalker Clashes sounds, as the decks always release during the end of the block and thus all the block's Planeswalkers will be available to pick from. Or, if they want to represent a duel between PWs in different blocks, that's a good opportunity to do so as well.
If Planeswalker Clash Duels becomes a thing, what would anyone else here say to having a secondary Mythic Rare in the deck along with the Planeswalker? For example, let's say you have a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker deck; the secondary Mythic could be Dragonmaster Outcast or Scourge of Valkas for example. Even if the decks still use goodstuff, they can at least use goodstuff with flavor.

If they discontinue them it's because they weren't selling well enough
But yeah, blame WotC for putting out a product you liked!

I'm pretty sure the point is giving players less non-booster access to valuable cards, not more.

This is Hasbro, thry could be selling sex-flavored chocolate crack to every person in the world five times a day for $100k a pop under a $0.02 production costs margin, and they'd still think their product is underperforming.

Pretty much this. I was into collecting Star Wars figures, which were also made by Hasbro, and over the past 5 years or so, they completely ruined the hobby by cutting corners, getting cheap and continuously re-releasing the same figures no one asked for over and over again instead of making the figures of characters fans clamored for or re-releasing figures that were completely understocked and had outrageous secondary market prices due to being impossible to find (sound familiar?). I knew as soon as I heard that Hasbro had taken over, things were going to be bad.
So the clash packs and event decks are taken out by Hasbro in order for them to buy more boosters?
To buy boosters (direct money), draft (direct money and store support) or secondary market (store support). They don't want you to buy a deck that is remotely usable (or even the seeds of something usable) as a one-time purchase. I will be absolutely shocked if we see more than Duel Decks or Intro decks again.

Actually, what supports the stores the most are the events they hold for tournaments. They don't really make much money off of single card sales on new sets outside of the first few weeks, and older sets are more so trade commodities that end up being paid for in store credit. Also, to even make money off of shipping cards the store has to sell in bulk at least 4 or 5 usd in cards due to shipping fees. Then you have the leftovers: bins just full of junk commons and rares from drafts and booster box openings that you'd be lucky to get pennies for. In my mind they should have recycle bins for excessively bad commons and jank that are unplayable.
Personally I think that set card products like event decks are a good way to manage price control on heavily played cards. It's kept the price of Windswept Heath in check while the rest have gone up at least 50% or more in cost. If they could find a way to reprint the enemy fetch lands in a set product that would be a good way to get those guys back under control as well.

Sad news, both the last event deck and the clashpack were amazing, I think. It was also cool to get some cards in foil with alternate art. Can you even imagine how expensive hangarback walker would be if it wasn't in the GB event deck?
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

Yeah, I guess so. I mean, the high price for Jace, Vyn's Prodigy has to be paid somewhere, or it wouldn't be selling for so much.
That said, my first return to Magic was an Origin's Clashpack and I was looking forward to another one come Oath of Shadows to help keep my decks standard-legal on the cheap. This is a giant blow to me, as I don't wager we'll see dramatic price drops like we did on Windswept or Hangerback like we did. As a way to get into FNM with a usable deck, it was a godsend.
Implying Hasbro actually wants prices to be under control...
I'm beginning to think Wizard LIKES the high-prices on their cards, since it makes it seem like Magic is a worthy investment and not just a game. Every time a card (or a whole deck, like Eldrazi) blows up, WotC smiles because that will create the illusion that this card is the next Tarmogoyf or Force of Will.
Yeah, they don't have a lot of reason to care short term. Too many companies are near sighted these days.
Magic to WotC is most lucrative when its most random, since to get the valuable cards, you need to crack a lot of packs. Stores want random since they have economy of scale and can sell those few lucrative cards at a higher prices. Consumers want reliable access to good cards cheap, which conflicts with the other two goals. Guess who loses?

And the irony is that after seeing booster box openings and doing math, it's still cheaper to get the singles at the inflated prices than it is to try and randomly win the lottery to get them. Combined with shipping costs and other issues it's a good thing LGS's can make money off of local tournaments.

Exactly, there is increasingly little middle ground for people who want to play constructed but don't have large budgets. WotC needs MORE, not less, ED/CP type products (and/or stronger intro decks) to get decent cards into player hands easily. I think WotC is putting a lot of its eggs in the limited/draft basket (both in terms of card availability and design) and treating standard as just promotion for the mythic rares in the sets. They certainly don't seem concerned that a decent Standard deck costs as much as a decent large TV.
