Anyone else already super-sick of hedrons? Do the people at WotC not understand the concept of overdoing artistic themes?
Why did they have to inflict meaningless hedrons on all these bling-lands?
Probably to tie the card to the plane. Just like an urban theme does the originals. Maybe.
Well sure, but there are endless variations on "urban theme" that makes all 20 shocks look distinct from each other, but still evocative of their name.
Whereas, floating hedrons just look like floating hedrons.
That's a good point. Maybe this is the Wooded Foothills art and someone at Wizards made a mistake. Someone should message Mark Rosewater on Tumblr and double-check. Wizards makes mistakes: they thought Treasure Cruise was OK, for example.

These days, some wizards are finding they have a little too much deck left at the end of their $$$.

I just showed this to a friend (we both played through the first Zendikar block) and he said he thinks the temple part is refering a temple for Em (Emrakul). Not saying this makes the art a perfect fit for a "Temple Garden" but I think it makes it fit slightly more.

I second the question on where all the detail went in this art, it looks unfinished to me, like someone painted the first part and then stopped before adding any shades or textures to the image :/
