I am positive they were trolling.
On a second re-evaluation. This card is not that bad at all. I still do not see it as a mythic, but as a rare, it would have been fine. All in all, would still be a limited bomb, and is constructed playable. I'd be happy if I pulled this from a pack.
I sort of feel like it should have also been indestructible or something as long as it has +/+ counters on it. As it stands, it just doesn't feel like a mythic.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Feels decidedly un-mythic. Phantom Nantuko was a rare and had Trample. Landfall isn't that much better than for the counters that it necessitates the loss of Trample and bump in rarity.

It was a Rare when Magic did not have Mythics, so that's a pretty poor comparison.
It isn't uncommon for a few Mythics to teeter on the edge of the Rare/Mythic line from time to time. I can agree with the sentiment that this is probably closer to the Rare side, but those abilities look powerful. I am assuming they erred on the side of caution, as multiples of these in Limited would probably be unbeatable.
With Hardened scales on the battlefield, this guy turn 3, turn 4 play a fetch, he gets 2 counters. Fetch, 2 more counters. Cast Explosive Vegetation, he gets 4 more counters.
He's a 10/10 on turn 4.
Imagine casting him with Anamist's awakening... this guy can get huge quick.

You really don't have to balance rares for Limited though. There are plenty of OP rares all of the time in Limited. Besides, it isn't like it would be any more unbeatable than double Managorger Hydra or double Tragic Arrogance.
It is a shame that you have to run garbage cards to use a mechanic that makes this card better and every other card simply fall short of the rest of Constructed Standard.

Landfall is much better than tapping to add a counter for a creature, since you can still attack and get triggers.
Let's also remember that the FFL does not build decks to create dominance, and as a result sometimes cards end up at higher rarities because they play more powerfully there than they do in real life. Monastery Mentor is an excellent example of this. This critter might fall into a similar hole, wherein development overvalues its power because their role is not to determine what will be the best cards, but what will be good cards.
Besides, if it was totally busted we'd have way more people complaining about money grabs and that Wizards lied about what Mythics are suppoosed to be (one of the greatest zombie ideas in MTGS history). This is like BFZ's Risen Executioner: a card that might have been Rare in a previous day and age.

The rarity doesn't matter for Constructed though and the difference between rare and mythic matters very little in Limited. So why not make the unexciting card a rare?

At least Risen Executioner, while not a good card, was interesting.
Note if you play it on turn 3, often its merely a 2/2 with no protection until turn 4. A shock can take down your 3-drop.
Underwhelming mythic.
It definitely should go into the 4-drop slot when building a deck.
I think your right, but I was thinking of a competitive green deck, which makes a 2/2 as your 4-drop a death sentence. Control decks at that point have all the ammunition needed to exile or destroy him at that point.
If there is a solid mana dork coming, it could be a pretty solid card to drop turn 2. I could see this guy playing well in a collected company deck also.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
