Anyone else notice that there are only 4 'walkers on the floating rock doing "oath" things? Seems like whatever they're doing, it's only the 4 of them.
-Jace
-Chandra
-Gideon
-Nissa
Wait.
"Oath of the Gatewatch"?
A bunch of the stories have taken place at "Sea-Gate"?
I'm asking questions that don't make sense without context?
Woah!
Guys!
You know what this means?
Everyone is going to hang out by a freakin' dam this block.
I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.
Felicia Day seems happy to be part of this foursome.
Yea, the pic of Chandra does resemble Felicia Day. I think this is the best depiction of Chandra thus far, with a shorter crop.
That said, I hate it when Wizards spoil the ending when they reveal pics like these. It looks like a victorious occasion for the allies. No suspense left IMO. Can we move on to the block now.
We have Gideon as confirmed for bfz, also they just revealed Ob nixilus and Kiora on booster packs. So they are likely in there as well. I think the only question is whether Nissa will be in this set or bfz.
I actually want the Eldrazi to win. I like them more than these planeswalker characters or pretty much most things in Magic. It's about time the bad guys win again. Although, I don't consider the Eldrazi to be the bad guys because I like them. I loved New Phyrexia's and Tarkir's endings. It's just interesting to not have a story where the good guys always prevail. That doesn't represent reality.
Wut? In Zendikar block the bad guys pretty much won. In Scars block the bad guys won. In Innistrad the good guys started out losing and came up to reasonable parody. In Theros... well I don't think anyone won but I'd call Heliod a bad guy and he won. In Khans block some might call the dragons bad guys and they won(I side with the dragons). I mean with the exception of Ravnica the good guys have done nothing but lose for the last like 6 years at least.
Heliod lost too! By killing Elspeth he unleashed the seed of doubt and rebellion against all the Gods. Elspeth ends up in the Underworld because of her love for Daxos; Daxos ends up as a returned because of his love for Elspeth. Xenagos does not fulfill his childhood dream to be a God. Ajani loses his best friend. Anax loses Cymede to a lecherous Keranos. Thassa loses her Bident....Damn...EVERYONE loses in Theros. Haven't seen so many loses for everyone since New Phyrexia.

Indeed. Going by the cards the set looks much cheerier than it really is, storyline-wise.
that's making me curious...
maybe they're doing something to warrant Ulamog doesn't leave Zendikar and then watching that "gate" so it doesn't leave like Emrakul and Kozilek?
Have Emrakul and Kozilek really left?
will Ulamog be imprisoned again? If so, when are we going to see Emrakul and Kozilek again? Do the Eldrazi think enough to want to come back and free Ulamog from the new prison?
The expansion symbol... looks like a gate, certainly, but also resembles the glossy black protrusions found on Kozilek's brood. Speculation starts now...

The Gatewatch is obviously them watching the child come into the world.
If you look at the picture with the group of them on the floating island you can clearly see black (purple) aether. I am guessing it will be five planeswalkers that take care of the eldrazi. Lili is CONFIRMED not on Zendikar so I am guessing Sorin will show up at some point to close out the block. Not sure where Nahiri, Kiora, and Ugin come in but we could see as many as nine walkers in this block assuming Ob Nixilus gets his mojo back. A planeswalker block if you will.

Clearly it's a Hedron Based Super Laser. : P
You're right though, I didn't notice that it certainly does resemble the Kozilek brood. That said, I think they've learned that they need not leave an end too loose. If the conflict is settled on Zendikar, it'll likely not involve Kozilek or Emrakul in any way shape, or form, because leaving Zendikar in yet another "But the Eldrazi are eating it! Right now! Kozilek is having a nice brunch on Ondu!" would be...poor, to put it bluntly.
The symbol is weird, as normally set symbols are a compact symbol, and this one is made of four separate shapes. Well in fact you can see and arrow pointing down too. It can symbolize many things: the four PW, a gate that is opening or closing, the Kozilek traits...

Before the glory of Yawgmoth, yes, even this makes sense.
Think it could symbolize sea gate, where they theoretically make their stand (after taking it back). Also there's no question it closely resembles Kozilek's brood. Perhaps they went underground and are the cause of Nissa's severed connection with the plane. A victory against one titan can be a feel-good end to a block, but with open connections for a mandatory return (for an eventual Moar Battling for Zendikar).
I have an idea. Maybe they defeat Ulamog somehow and Zendikar is now a giant alarm system for when the other two titans come to avenge their fallen comrade. These four planeswalkers are now magically bound to Zendikar for when the "alarm" goes off.

If you look at Ulamogs art the bone structure reminds me of Lord Zedd, maybe it's not a coincidence
