If true, he seems pretty solid. His -3 can protect himself and give immediate value against removal, and his +1 is a great source of card advantage. Good against midrange and control, not good for stabilizing against aggro. Pretty weak ult, but it is somewhat attainable (if you don't need his -3), and gives inevitability.
Agreed, but its not like black has that rough a time with aggro anyway. Especially with stuff like Ulcerate around
You bring up the literal worst card black has vs aggro...
I like the card from a design standpoint as it does feel like an Ob Nixilis planeswalker card should, but in terms of power he seems rather weak.
Having his only + ability be one that you can't spam is kinda awkward. His -3 looked interesting to me at first, but then I remembered it's just a way worse version of Vraska's. The ultimate is oddly slow compare that to Chandra, Roaring Flame who does something similar but much better.

Really? Last I checked removing crazy aggro cards like Monestary Swiftspear or Zurgo Bellstriker is how you beat aggro. The 3 damage you suffer from ulcerate will still net you health in the long run if you keep 1 mana open to remove it asap.
Edit: I suppose Thoughtseize is the "literal" second worst card against aggro then...

Dude, I don't think I've ever seen anyone use Ulcerate, ever. Yes, stopping there small creatures puts a damper on their strategy, but making their creatures into a Lightning Bolt to face is kind of in their game plan. They'll either have another creature, or you just let them get in range of just straight burning you out. Not only that, some people play Titan's Strength, so if you try doing that, Monastery won't even die at that point due to the +1 toughness from TS and her prowess. That or just play 2 burn spells in response as well.
It's genrally better to just kill them with things like Bile Blight, Ultimate Price, mid game with Murderous Cut, Languish, Drown in Sorrow, etc. Duress is probably the best one drop black has to fend off against burn in general, to be honest.
And one last thing, Ulcerate will be gone when Ob Nixillis is in standard, so yeah, can only really mention Khans+ cards to handle aggro.
As for my thoughts on ObNi, looks fun, I can imagine it seeing play, similar to Liliana of the Veil, but just a bit pricier and a bit more CA, would be happy if he got to see modern play, but 5 mana might be too much, maybe in a control style build, idk. But since he's a planeswalker, does that mean Zendikar get's rekt?
Ugin is going to get really bad once all the fatties are colourless. I sold all mine. Sell sell sell!
He's going to be absolutely rotten. Hangarback walker has already nerfed him quite significantly. I reckon he'll be $3 junk within 2 months of rotation

Yea, seems weak. Especially since he's supposed to be an Oldwalker or close to.

I heard somewhere that after he became unshackled he found some mysterious power in the heart of zendikar that helped him get his spark back so its possable zendikar didn't get wrecked. Apparently Nissa lost her's as well so I wonder if he somehow stole hers.

You bring up ulcerate and defend it as a realistic option versus aggro for black. It's pretty apparent you don't know how to beat aggro or don't actually play black. There is an eldrazi sized gap between where ulcerate and seize are on the "how to beat aggro" spectrum and thoughtseize isn't even that great against them in the first place. Come on now.

Ok, fair enough. I mainly play duel commander and its a legit anti-aggro card there. I can see it being less effective in standard or modern.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
He's a demon though, how did he somehow REGAIN his spark?
He was a demon planeswalker until he came to zendikar and then he lost it (I dont remember how exactly, I think Nahiri did something to him). Apparently he found some amazing power in "the heart of zendikar" whatever that means and it restored his powers.

He was a human planeswalker until he found and started using the Chain Veil, which corrupted him and turned him into a demon destroyer of worlds, which he was cool with. He went to Zendikar next to destroy it, but Nahiri, the then-guardian of the plane, put a hedron in his forehead to bind him, which not only stopped the influence of the Chain Veil but also seemed to strip him of his spark (although the same hedron was used to seal the Veil's influence on Garruk, and he's still able to planeswalk). In the events of DotP 2015, the player and Jace take the hedron out of Ob Nixilis to use on Garruk, which "unshackled" Ob Nixilis and set him on the path to regaining his spark.
