So will there also be foil versions of the ultra rare cards? Because if there are I'm thinking you could buy a used car for what they'd be worth on the open market.
Well, you can get a case for under $600, and if my math checks out, you're pretty much guaranteed (mathmatically) to get one of these full-art lands in it.
If they're truly random (which they're not but close enough) and the probably is about 1/256 of a given booster having them and there are 216 boosters in a case then the probability of getting one in a case is
1 - (1-(1/256) * 216) = 0.85
Not quite guaranteed. If we assume that the price is set just by the bulk cost of finding them then they're worth about $710 each. Of course there will also be an enormous level of demand. The value as singles will probably be around 1000 for Shocks and higher for the Fetches.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Finally, the Fetches. Now people can stop talking about them constantly, it was getting on my nerves. Although I don't even need to get them, the obvious cash-grab Wizards decided to go for with them is kinda pissing me off.
Until they actually reprint them in a big enough quantity to make prices drop, people will demand a real reprint.
Just because they print a card that's "worse" than a previous card, that doesn't mean that we'll never see the previous card again and "modern design" is heading into a certain direction. They're just throwing out versions of one card. In my book, that's better than just reprinting all the "better" cards over and over again, without trying out anything new.
I don't think it was ever a case of Hero's Downfall being too strong, I think it is design wanting to make an awaken card with that has a archetype* magic design on it.
*I use archtype to describe cards and effect that show up in every block, like Naturlize or Wraths.
It's rather sad though as they took a card that was good in both midrange and control strategies and pushed it towards the former. The awaken cost is little more than trinket text for a control deck. This will likely be the cleanest answer to planeswalkers while it's legal in standard, so what they've done is just made it much more difficult to interact at instant speed.
Maybe they'll reprint a white wrath that can compete with Languish, and control can move back into UW. But I'm worried that we're going to be stuck with another format dominated by midrange decks.

Let's not assume anything. The simply fact is that there's going to be so much BfZ opened, more than any set to date. The average expected value of a box cannot be twice what it cost. It's all fine looking at 1 in 200 packs or w/e the number is, but when you realize that ten of millions, if not hundreds of millions, of packs are going to be opened, these are going to be quite more common than you'd think.
Then there's the objectivity of it. What people consider pimp. People just see the words "full-art" and zone out, or just assign pimp factor based on a price tag. I look at them and wonder why the new full art hallowed fountain would be more pimp than an original one, and I realize that it isn't. The frame is ugly, it's not really full-art since the text box takes up a third of the card, and the art itself doesn't match the name. I'd take a foil DIS hallowed fountain over it any day, and that's ignoring the fact that original ones may actually be rarer than the full art ones.
-edit- and for the record, I fully expect for some of the less popular shocks the be readily available at $50

Where are you getting 1/256 from?. I've seen people claim 1/216 for Foil Mythics, but those claims are usually matched with other claims that are incorrect and so 1/216 for Foil Mythics could be wrong. If Foil Mythics are 1/216, your chance of opening a Zendikari Expedition will be 1/129.6.
Where are you getting $710 or 1000+ from? Packs have cards that aren't Zendikari Expeditions, the prices are not going to be nearly that high while BFZ gets printed to demand.
Is anyone else tired of seeing Planeswalker's turn into Creatures?
And I have only been playing since Fate Reforged, competitvely.
Turning into a creature is Gideon's primary mechanic. Chandra will always deal damage, Nissa will always interact with lands (her original elf theme was unsuccessful), Garruk will always interact with Beasts, Elspeth will always make 1/1 Soldiers, Liliana will always deal with Discard/Reanimation (Dark Realms not doing this is considered a massive mistake), Sarkhan will always make Dragons, Ajani will always gain life, and Gideon will always turn into a creature. Planeswalkers get mechanical identities to tie their different incarnations together.

Unfortunately some people look at BFZ and see nothing but full art duals and a pile of cards.

Did they say "one or two per case"? (didn't watch the whole video) I'm going off the statement that they're about as rare as foil mythics.
No, they are just presales and only shops can do that.
A pretty fair price for those two lands by the way, I think.

Selling some cards I don't want.
Generally less than tcg mid.
