New dual lands are obviously commander-only. Cheap but very good in decks that can accomodate them.
I don't think so. I'd play them in standard. I often have a lot of basics in my Standard decks, and with the fetch lands in standard I could easily make a solid deck using these.
These lands are easily the most reasonable thing anyone in the thread for land speculation has suggested. Sure, they won't be a force in eternal, but they are actually playable which is better than most things can say in modern. Its an easy call for a 2 color deck to play 4-6 fetches, the 4 on color shocks, and now we can play 2-4 of the BFZ duals. 3 color decks which dominate much of modern (Jund, etc), won't be using these, but they are strong enough and greedy in the manabase already, no need to give them more strength. We just came from Theros which the only playable rare land was maybe nykthos as a stretch. There is no reason to complain about these. If you want to fetch later in the game without putting yourself into burn risk, these lands are an obvious choice for eternal as a supplement to shocks.
I'm hoping they won't draw the same attention and price as Shock Lands because I'd like to get a bunch of these. Like I said, I have a lot of decks with basic lands to save money, and these would be perfect to put in alongside them.

They don't seem Modern playble, but in the period they'll be in standard they will have high prices, I'm pretty sure.
Do we know what rarity they'll be? Rare? Uncommon? And if they'll be in the land slot of a boosterpack?
This actually seems like a semi-fare way to get fetchable dual lands into standard that aren't as OP as fetching shocks would be. I cant see these finding a home in modern when you could just fetch a shock and have it enter tapped if need be and it does the same thing. With shocks not being a financial road block to enter modern, it wouldn't make sense to run these.
The lands have the same problem as checklands. They're only good if you put restrictions on the rest of your mana base, which you generally don't want to do. If one of your first two lands are non-basic, it ETBT as your third land. To make them good, you'd want to play them with nothing but fetches and basics, and even then, you wouldn't want more than a few of these new ones in your deck because they non-bo with themselves. There is not enough upside compared to shocks for these to be played in modern.
That said, I think it's a realistically disappointing design. Not yet convinced that the spoiler is real, but the design holds water.
Actually they will strengthen Monocolored decks with a splash.
Example: A White Weenie deck with a splash U/G could run 4 Windsweapth Heath, 4 Flooded Strand and 2 Wooded Foothills as well as 8 Plains and 1 new G/W and 1 new U/W land. You would always have enough basics, because you fetch them first (or draw them naturally) and then in the mid-game, when you want to use your splash cards like let's say Dromoka's Command you can use any of the 10 fetches to find the one G/W land. (Or have 8 fetches to find the one W/U land).
Said this in page 2 but yes I totally agree. Off the top of my head I would say the modern goblin deck that shows up might want these and fetches to filter lands and splash for things like atarkas command and lightning helix. G/W elves might run a couple to drop a shaman of the pack on the field. Any number of mono decks that splash for a powerful effect might play these at 1 or 2 of. I would say shocks still out class them but them being fetchable is very interesting but their play will be narrow and limited to 1 or 2 copies imo. I think they will end up being 8-10 dollar lands in standard after the initial rush to pick them up and after they rotate they will be 4-5 dollar lands with foil copies around 10 ish.
If these duals are legit, another set of lands that are only going to be played in Standard. If you're running a two color deck in older formats, you'll probably want these as well, but in hindsight, your deck is probably outdated and has low archetype win percentages.
The type for shake ups in older formats is coming, at least I hope, they are a bit to stale for my taste at least, modern tournaments at my LGS are some of the hardest to get enough people for. while standard often has 30-40, even drafts have up to 20.... i think most of us are just bored with playing the same or against the same decks constantly over years.
KTK block (and Origins honestly) had a pretty significant impact on the older formats.
I don't think they'll print lands good enough to improve on the manabases we currently have. The best chance is for them to print more unique lands (enemy manlands, utility lands, &c.)
A little piece of evidence I noticed for these lands (or at least, lands with basic types) being real: Nissa, Vastwood Seer specifies "basic Forest". Most cards that search up lands of a particular type don't have that rider, and I doubt that Wizards was afraid of her taking over Modern/Legacy without it. It seems pretty likely that it wouldn't be there unless it was supposed to matter in Standard.

Really like the art amd the feel to this set. I appreciate the pics aswell;- I'm thrilled and terrified by loving the block and hope they don't disappoint with this set.
I'm taking this post with a HUGE grain of salt. The poster JUST joined TODAY and it's his/her first post.
That being said if Ugin's Council was real, I would NOT complain as it's at least another decent cantrip for modern with all the good one's being banned.
The font on Ugin's Council and Gideon seems... off. I WANT to believe that dual land though. That Gideon would be pretty cool too. I can believe that Join the Ranks.
If Ugin's Council were real, it's a sorcery speed card so it might not be good enough to make the cut, especially since WoTC was testing Opt for Origins, but it didn't make the cut because of Jeskai.
I'd like for these to be real. More fetchable duals is always welcome, although they don't have a hope of replacing shocks in most decks. Most players want control over whether or not lands are available the turn they are played, so these lands are on par with M10 check lands IMO.
Lack of set symbol on Ugin's Council leaves me skeptical.

Join The Ranks is a real card, which may see reprinting, but Ugin's Council and Gideon are obvious fakes, Council missing the symbol, and Gideon having the wrong name in the text of his 0 ability.
ETA: The colorless mana font on Nissa's Awakening is slightly off, plus I highly doubt that would be the wording for "if this spell was Awakened".

They all look faked and the set symbol on Jace's Council is messed up as well.
