Cool card and a limited bomb, probably good in some sort of Scapeshift-based EDH deck or straight Elemental tribal. I'm kind of disappointed that he's so much different than the original Omnath though.
Kinda surprised people aren't seeing Standard potential for this. It's a 7-drop that basically says you win if you untap with it, which is a start, plus it interacts strongly with fetchlands, when Wooded Foothills is legal, plus it interacts favorably with land ramp spells (and there's obviously going to be at least one), plus it interacts favorably with tournament quality Elementals that are already in standard and which share a color with it. How is this *not* seeing standard play?
All the people fantasizing about Elemental tribal being a thing are getting a bit overexcited - Embodiment of Spring and Crater Elemental are probably never going to be justifiable Standard cards. But existing RG decks are fairly well suited to running a couple of these already, and it's only likely to get more workable as the rest of the set is released.
Yeah Dragonlord Atarka will be the top end curve as she causes impact when she enters in the field while been a 8/8 evasive monster. Omnath need abit more setup but hes still abusrd and i love him
I wouldn't say garbage. On a technical level, I'd say it's executed on par with Wizard's other work. The colors are gorgeous and the rendering is solid. However, in terms of composition, posing and design of the creature this is definitely NOT how I'd have chosen to solve the problem of depicting Omnath in this state. Then again, I'm not a Magic artist yet.
Turns Nissa, Sage Animist's -2 into a burn ability after the first use. The second Ashaya token counts as an Elemental dying too, after all. Outside Standard, plays ridiculously well with Lorwyn's Evoke Elementals. Quite fearsome with Where Ancients Tread and Warstorm Surge. I'm guessing Elemental tribal will be RG's theme this time around.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Is there a format slow enough for this guy? I'd say EDH, but you'd really have to stage the groundwork to do anything through the 10000 wrath, armageddon and evacuation effects in every deck.
As a Commander Omnath player, I'm litlle dissapointed I can't include this new version in my deck. Other little because his ability is nothing similar to his previous.
However, has good potential. He as Commander, with the company of Titania, Scapeshift, Nissa, Koth and land mass destruction.

Hope that the new Landfall wont be a RG thing.. I have a Damia Landfall deck that would have LOVED the new Omnath! I was looking at BFZ for filling my deck with all sort of sweet new landfall cards the Sphinx is trash compare to Roidnath
Looking at this in comparison to Atarka in current lists is problematic, because there are factors that are going to make Ataka worse post-rotation and factors that make Omnath better than he seems. Atarka is powered by a bunch of creature-based ramp that's leaving the format. What we're getting instead is presumably land-based ramp that interacts much more strongly with Omnath. Cards like Nissa and Whisperwood Elemental get a big utility buff when Omnath is your top end, too. You can't just say that "Atarka does something when she comes out and Omnath doesn't" because Omnath does do something when he comes out, under plenty of circumstances: if you have a way to get some lands into play (via Nissa, fetchlands, or just your land drop), or if you already have any Elementals in play then they suddenly become a whole lot more effective in combat, and act as sweeper insurance.
This is all utility that Atarka doesn't offer, and you get it before you untap. Once you do untap, I'd argue that Omnath is just way tougher to deal with with than Atarka in general. Atarka has more individual toughness and evasion, but Omnath distributes a lot of power across a lot of targets fairly quickly, and makes dealing with all of them basically impossible, short of Perilous Vault.

WOW! That is perfect. Makes me want to ever so slightly modify my monogreen Titania EDH deck to make it g/r with Angry Omnath as the commander.
