When I said that the game still needs work, I didn't quite expect it to be murderously buggy.
Sometimes, when the game notifies me that my planeswalker has reached full life, and then I go to the battle screen to see my planeswalker really at full health, when I actually do start the battle, suddenly my planeswalker's life starts off at single digit. Doesn't take a genius to realize that my winning chances in that scenario (which has happened multiple times) is less then minus 100%
Other than that, the game has been mostly ok so far; the lagginess I mentioned earlier has mostly been under control, though still slow.
PS: It just hit me.... once this game becomes officially global-release, to which sub-forum should this thread go? This would then be rumor no more, but then there will be people discussing about tips and tricks for this game, and that feels like it could go to Magic General. But then, this is a Puzzle Quest game also, not a normal card Magic game, so.. Other Games? Uh, I'm confused...
Game seems fun, but needs a LOT of polish. Coins are used for both leveling up and buying packs, at the cost of 225 a piece. A win in Free Play nets you 50, so you need 5 wins without leveling up to be able to buy a single pack, and since matchmaking is still pretty finicky, you're bound to lose a few.
There are still bugs as well. Game crashed on me once, and had some weird stuff happening all around. Also got issues with the health once.
The biggest problem, however, is lack of content. Now, I'm not sure if that was a problem on my end because of some weird glitch, but currently the story mode is locked out, so only Free Play is available. This really sucks, esp. since I'm forced to play with Nissa of all Planeswalkers. I'm forced to wait a few days so I can get the crystals and buy a real character. Is story mode locked for anyone else?
I noticed this in the iOS app store today. I play Puzzle & Dragons, myself - how does this compare? I did try the Marvel one and was pretty unimpressed with it.
(I also play Final Fantasy: Record Keeper, though that's hardly relevant, here.)

Can anyone check how much the planeswalkers are to buy?
I unlocked them all when the game first came out in Australia and they were 15,000 coins or whatever currency that was, though originally it was giving out about 10x the amount it does now and everything was more expensive to make up for it, when they patched it to lower all the amounts, I still had about 40,000 saved up from playing the story so my Lilliana is at level 42 now.
Wow, lucky you being a (sort-of) alpha player.... Currently the game, as with most other mobile games) runs on two currency: Coins (maybe I'll call them emblems or sigils, I dunno) that you get by winning (50 per win, PvP or otherwise as far as I can tell) and gems/crytals (obtainable via daily login & some quests, so they're really hard to come by). Planeswalkers now cost 10 crystals apiece, so unless your early access gave you crystals, this may be a problem.

It looks as though all the challenges for the story quests give 8 crystals for the first 1 and 15 for the second one so that shouldn't be too hard to do.
I think I am done with the game for now, have Liliana at level 50 (the cap) and finished all 3 chapters plus the heroic encounters, some of the later ones got pretty stupid with opponents starting at 150+ health and some of the bonus objectives were stupid. Finish at above 90 life, thats great, my max level planeswalker has 86 life and lifelink wont take it above that amount, or speed ones where it wants you to finish in 10 rounds, against an opponent with 140 health.
Hopefully the events are interesting when they come out.
I'm annoyed that when I leveled up one planeswalker then bought another, the campaigns didn't reset, meaning I get a paltry 50 gold for finishing them, meaning it's very difficult to level up any walkers other than the initial choice. The only choice is to take your high-level walker through the bonus objectives, then spend that gold on leveling up your other walkers, which defeats the purpose of playing with them at all.

I'm hoping the events when they come out will help with this, similar to the ones in Marvel Puzzle Quest.
Currently I stick myself to the mid-level of 15, having yet to buy other planeswalkers. The grinding in this game is pretty crazy.
One thing I absolutely hate about this game is the blatant rarity creep. Here's an example I've seen so far: At common, we have an 11-mana 1/3 Defender creature (whatever that spider is called, can't be bothered to remember). Ok. Then at uncommon, we have a 3/4 Defender for the exact same cost (that Gorger Wurm something). What. Then during one of my PvPs, I run into a rare 6/6 defender for 12 mana.
Wizards. Seriously?
The few rare cards I've seen so far are in general so incredibly busted that I need to question the point on having decks without rares. Admittedly, at my level, there aren't that many rares yet that I've seen at my level (not to mentionI have yet to actually get any), but these three rare cards are my biggest pet peeves of the game so far:
The aforementioned 6/6 Defender for 12 mana.
Fetid Imp. Not sure what the cost, but cheap enough for a 1/8 flying with ability that can render your field clear from one bad match.
Pia & Kiran Nalaar. Again, not sure what their cost is, but a 6/6 + 4/4 Flyer is nothing to sneeze at, and doesn't look like they cost like 20 mana anyway.

Agreed, it's pretty ridiculous. I was lucky enough to get Exquisite Firecraft (6 mana, 6 damage) and Skyraker Giant (11 mana, 4/3 Reach) in my first few packs, and I see no reason to not play those busted cards. Now I'm going the Chandra route and focusing on control. It seems there are a few playable Commons (like most weenies), but Defenders in general seem godawful at Common. Sadly, I'm not sure if they intend to balance it out in the future, because y'know, free cash.
Finally fixed my glitch btw, had to contact the devs and they fixed it out for me. Yeah, story mode makes the grind a bit more manageable, but it's still pretty tedious. I hope they add more content, 'cuz while the game is pretty fine it's kinda lacking, and the unbalanced cards will probably mean that the endgame will consist of "10 good cards.dek".
The 3/4 defender you were complaining about was previously a 12 mana 5/5 defender. I guess they have yet to find a good balance with the cards that the game have.
As for leveling PW. I hope they add more stories in story mode or roll out high XP events.

Oh dear, now I have a feeling that they are nerfing commons and uncommons and leaving the overpowered rares untouched. That won't make a good impression, that's for sure.
Especially when earlier I ran into yet another undercosted rare: 6/6 for 10 mana that bounces my creature off (although when the AI played that, it bugged out and I get to keep my creature; not that it helps against a 6/6 for a mere 10 mana). Seriously, looking at the rares and uncommons I've seen so far, many of them are very dangerously undercosted as to be downright busted.
Looks like I'll need to bow out of this thread for a long while as I can imagine the next few posts I may be making will be all about rarity creep, rarity creep and even more rarity creep. *sigh* This game had promise......
The Hangarback is insane, too. I don't remember how much it costs, but it's an 8/8 that gives you a 1/1 flying thopter whenever you pop 3+ gems, AND when it dies you get 8 thopters. Insane.

I'm on the second part of the tutorial, where you start out dragging a defender to the top. The only problem though is that the game is being a piece of ***** and dragging the entire stack up when I try to drag the defender up.
It's somewhat disheartening that even on the official game forums, there are keywords that nobody can figure out the definition of, and there's no official glossary or full user manual anywhere. For example, Menace doesn't seem to work any differently than Unblockable.

Put your finger on the card and hold it there for a second before dragging it. It took me a bit to figure that one out, too.

Look under "Planeswalker." I don't know why the deck editor is there either.
