So it looks like we will be waiting until after BfZ releases. To be honest, I really liked the format last year. I didn't feel that it robbed Khans or C14 of any thunder. Each had their own really cool thing, Wedges and PW commanders respectively, so even though they shared the stage they each shined.
Oh well.
Thing is though, the future of Magic is going to be coming at a faster pace. The blocks no longer span through three quarters of a year. If they start running the hype trains on all of the sets and products they produce, there's gonna be a train wreck at some point.
And frankly, I can understand why they didn't. Zendikar is one of the most popular blocks in the History of Magic. It's either going to blow whatever C15 has to offer out of the water (and make hype for it wane even when its time comes around) or, because the set is a return and subsequently already going to be compared to something from earlier in Magic's history, by some miracle C15 would be the more exciting product and...well, that's not coming out for a while.
The enthusiasm felt really forced to me too, but then again I've never understood people that get so excited over something that they go in to hysterics. I could win the lottery and be set for life and I still not be as overtly happy as these people.
Whoa buddy. No one said I was better than WotC at marketing. I simply said I was disappointed with how they spoiled the commander set this year as opposed to last year and that I liked the way it went last year. I'm sure they have a reason to do what their doing.
That being said, professionals can still make mistakes.
While you may not have thought it stole thunder from either product, they pay people lots of money to determine how to roll out and announce items. I'm guessing they know what they are doing.
Having a job doesn't automatically make people good at something, nor does it mean they can't make mistakes. These same people hired Wil Weaton. Clearly, they DON'T know what they're doing.
When it comes to guessing who is better at marketing, a random MTGS forum poster or a person with a marketing degree who works for a multi-national corporation, I'm going to go with the latter. Also, Wil Wheaton was awesome.
Seriously. Some people can be so entitled. I had to listen to these two *****lords at PAX while the preview panel was going on, they were arguing whether or not you could play off-colored eldrazi with devoid in your deck. I told them it literally didn't matter because if your general isn't blue, you can't add U to your mana pool to cast it. Then they kept arguing. I had to walk away from the panel for a while because they were so annoying.

Now I believe that color identity is still applied, but if it isn't there are cheats. There are descendan't path, Yisan, Elvish Piper, manifest with a flicker effect. But I think that it still counts towards color identity.

I genuinely can't figure out how your comment is a response to anything you quoted, but I hope you aren't calling Vijard "entitled." There's nothing whatsoever wrong with being bummed that there was a Commander spoiler at the PAX last year and not one this year. If you think I'm entitled, that's okay. I'm an American, and I have the right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and protection from Wil Weaton.
Will Wheaten was overbearing and useless. Throughout the entire thing I kept saying out loud "Shut Up Wesley"...and I was by myself in front of my computer.

Come on Dio. You know that WOTC has a duty and an obligation to make all Magic players happy with every decision they make and every card they create. There is no such thing as a card or event that should be created for just a small subgroup of players.

You put words in people's mouths, then argue with yourself. It's not impressive. I encounter this WAY too often on this forum. Are you the same person using different accounts?
I dont mind that they didn't have any Commander spoilers or info for it.
The fall set is always a big thing because its a real fresh start for standard. This set is more exciting because their returning to Zendikar, and people loved that block.
Once October rolls around, there is nothing to take away from C15 and it will all be about that.

color identity still applies. There is still a colored mana symbol on the card, it being colorless is irrelevant. Memnarch is colorless, but still has a blue color identity.

yeah I figured as much, but I was just giving examples in a hypothetical situation.
Probably not until BFZ is released. They wouldn't want to steal any thunder from it (or C15) by spoiling both of them at the same time.
And now I have officially stopped carrying about this PAX event. FIrst they blow money on eldrazi sculptures rather than giving me back player rewards schemes or alt-art prerelease promos. Then they dedicate three days to one set, one standard set. Literally one set. For the past two years we got commander news at comic con. Now they leave us with nada. Fantastic.
Agreed. I was expecting at least one new Legendary to start speculation.
vijard asked: Why haven't we seen any spoilers for Commander 2015 at ComicCon or PAX? Last year we saw some at both. This year, nothing. To be honest, it is a bit of a let down.
We’ve chosen to be more focused this year on the next thing.
So it looks like we will be waiting until after BfZ releases. To be honest, I really liked the format last year. I didn't feel that it robbed Khans or C14 of any thunder. When I worked at a marketing firm, we were paid to convince producers/investors that what some exec/bureaucrat wanted to do was the only way to sell the product/service/event, wether it was actually the best way to sell the product or not.

Exactly. And not practicing a certain profession does not mean you don't have a right to criticize the work of said profession. Doesn't necessarily mean you know what the hell you're talking about, but a profession doesn't have protection from criticism from the outside. I'm not a General Manager for an NHL team but I sure as heck can criticize certain things. Same goes for the mayor, or Prime Minister of Canada.
So how 'bout them commander decks, right? I'm hoping for some Kruphixy shenanigans in the UG and something exciting in UR whether it has to do with Instants and Sorceries or Artifacts. I also hope they can make something fresh out of RW.

One theme I'd love to see in a RW precon is Red effects like Earthquake or Starstorm combined with white creatures with Flying or Protection From Red, respectively. In their thematic color identities, there's overlap between passion and idealism, and overlap between desire for destruction and desire for cleansing.
Plus the whole strategy of "mass-sweepers with creatures that can survive them" is one of my favorites in MtG.

I just want the BW General to be more of a W aligned individual using B aligned means rather than the usual B aligned using W means characters we've been getting. It's strange that I can like Sorin and the Abzan but sometimes feel sickened by most of the Orzhov

If they stick with past themes, there will be 3 possible commanders of the deck, 1 being a reprint, and the other 2 new.
