lol, here we go again.
Yes, technically and legalistically you would be correct. Mark Rosewater did not say to the letter that "there are no fetchlands in Battle for Zendikar."
However, I would be willing to bet you any sum of money that neither Arid Mesa, Misty Rainforest, Marsh Flats, Verdant Catacombs nor Scalding Tarn are in the Battle for Zendikar block (BFZ or "Sweat"). I would even give you 10 to 1 odds if you'd like.

Hucka, don't get another thread locked because you still are clutching to the last nigh invisible string of hope.
Hucka, there is a thing called CONTEXT, and that is exactly what you need to see in the post MaRo made. If the way you are interpreting it is true, then MaRo didn't answer a question, and MaRo always gives an answer to a question.

Out of curiosity if they decided rather than doing seeded pack like before they chose to go back to Mirrodin Besieged faction packs, would people have been interested in that? I quite enjoyed the faction packs as I really wanted a mox opal and it helped you choose which faction to support. Would people have been interested in the choice of Allies vs Eldrazi packs?
Something similar to the two Mirrodin Besieged factions is the direction I thought they would go with the BFZ prerelease as well.
If MaRo was trolling us all as hucka is saying, you could make a point that he could be charged with some sort of financial crime after what his comment did to the secondary markets.
My thought is that because Mark Rosewater said that Zendikar Fetches won't be in "Battle for Zendikar", it's important to note that he didn't say block. It's not unrealistic to think they might make an appearance in whatever set two is. Didn't a similar thing play out before Khans? "No Zendikar fetches in Khans?". Absolutely correct, but, like asking a demon for a favor, you've got to choose your words carefully. There were no Zendikar fetches in Khans -- we got Onslaught fetches. There are no Zendikar fetches in Battle for Zendikar - that's a fact you can bank on, but he didn't talk about set two, "Cliffhanger of Zendikar". It matters with Rosewater and company - they do this a lot.
On topic, I was always a bit annoyed at the color specific prereleases. There were never enough winning faction kits for everyone, because buying enough winning faction kits for everyone would mean having that same number of all the other loser factions collecting dust. I like that every box is equal.

Suffice it to say, I'm glad you didn't take me up on my bet. lol. It turns out that fetchlands are indeed in BFZ, although technically not the kind of reprint that most were hoping for.

They are still not in Battle for Zendikar, since they have another expansion symbol.
The box looks really great, all cards fit in, even the dice... way to go Wizards! That's how deck boxes should be!
(Still awaiting to see if it can hold *sleeved* decks...)
I'm hoping it's plastic and not cheap cardboard.
You can bet its cardboard, but hopefully at least half-durable one.
----
Overall it seems great, as i pretty much throw away the old box, this is hopefully enough to at least put the Pre-Release deck in it and have it around for 1 day.
Cardboard boxes? Damn, I feel weird having my Morningtide-Eventide plastic deckboxes that coiuld hold sleeved cards with no problems.
Also, random promo card? Yuck, this means it'll probably an useless 50c card again; where did the mythic promos go, people, WHERE?? Oh, yeah, they screwed the whole promo card thing by that silly idea of letting you play your promo card in your sealed deck.
That about the "random" promo card means the most dreade phrase I could hear at the limited events: "Pass your material to the person at your left" which usually meant "Pass all the good stuff you pulled and receive a ton of useless stuff..."
I guess it's too early to say I won't attend to the prerelease, but I don't hold my hopes very high with this one, I attended to RoE prerelease mostly to get the promo Emrakul, as I did for many other prereleases.
Interesting. Honestly I prefer this to how they have been handling pre-releases for the past few years. I always hated people clamoring for the "best" pre-release boxes.
However I still dislike the random promos. We used to get stuff like emrakrul and wurmcoil engine. Now the promos are generally akin to the face cards of pre-con decks.
Personally I'd be happy if they gave us a set of full art basic lands depicting each new plane we visit at the pre-releases. I'd at least get some play value out of Promo full arts like that, and the basic lands in my decks would be a record of sorts of my "travels through the multiverse"

Prerelease events aren't competitive REL, there's no deck registration and exchanges.
...Prerelease events aren't competitive REL, there's no deck registration and exchanges.
Well, I remember that in those prereleases where you "picked your material" such as the color alignment in M15 you kept the stuff you opened, but on the older prereleases, such as Inninstrad, you opened the stuff, registered it and then passed your cards to the next person, then you assembled the deck with the cards you received from the other player (Which couldn't include your promo card)
I still don't like the whole "play your promo card on the sealed deck" idea, because that's the main reason the promo cards are really weak when they could toss a nice valuable mythic.

Innistrad was when they decided to no longer give out Mythics as Prerelease Foils. It was the only Block where the Prerelease was both unplayable in the Prerelease and a definite weak rare. They probably realized it, which was why they made them playable in RTR.
So it was more of "they no longer wanted to toss nice valuable Mythics around" was the main reason for "might as well make them playable in the Prerelease to "increase their value"".

No *ZENDIKAR* fetches will be in BFZ. That was sort of the point that was being made.
Back on topic, I'm slightly disappointed that alt-art isn't a thing on pre-re promos any more. Some of the alts were really nice.
Some of the alt-art was rather nice. Of course, sometimes the art was rather 'wat' inducing. Which is the case in all art, really.

No seeded packs preview card is any rare or mythic in the set

Modern:
RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.

Correct. The promo isn't necessarily weak.
However the odds are dramatically in favor of the promo being trash since the majority of rares are bargain bin material.
