Not necessarily. Sorrin, Gideon, Ugin, Jace, Nissa, and Kiora all showed up in pictures today.
Bolas was on a card without showing up as a planeswalkers. Too early to call.
Uhhh, that's an image of Kiora participating IN the battle for Zendikar with Gideon, the already-established face of the set. Do you need to be holding Kiora's new planeswalker card in your hand before you fully consider it "confirmed"?

And bolas fighting ugin on tarkir in the art for crux of fate wasn't art with the face of the set?

They used old pictures of Sorin and Nissa. at least for the live tweets there was no confirmation of Sorin in new artwork. Not that I dont expect to see him in the new set but Nothing official says so.
And bolas fighting ugin on tarkir in the art for crux of fate wasn't art with the face of the set?
I don't know how you could even think the two were analogous. In FRF, it was already pre-established canon -- literally from years prior -- that Bolas killed Ugin. Sarkhan went back in time to save Ugin, and it would make sense that he'd witness the epic battle between the two dragons while in the past -- and that, with Creative's new "we're going to be showing pivotal story moments on cards" philosophy -- we'd see a card that depicted that battle and out of necessity, Bolas would appear in that art.
Kiora was already widely speculated to be in BFZ block, given her additional backstory in Theros block about her being from Zendikar and wanting to raise an army to battle the Eldrazi on her home plane. I mean, everyone realizes that Wizards works several years into the future, right? And that Kiora's backstory was a plant for her future appearance in BFZ? Especially when she got an Uncharted Realms story completely dedicated to her out of the blue earlier this year?
Bolas's inclusion in FRF would have been a complete non sequitur. Kiora's inclusion in BFZ block was already expected, and this artwork all but confirms it.
I think the new block/storytelling paradigm is going to change how planeswalkers are represented on cards with regards to the plot. I'm sure Sorin will be present on Zendikar for BFZ, but I think, for all intents and purposes, his representation for this part of the story was Sorin, Solemn Visitor.
Kiora holding Thassa's Bident Dekella. This is the absolute most awesome thing MTG could have done, aside from making an Arixmethes card in this set of course. But hey, with the Bident perhaps Kiora can cast him after all... and then OMG IF HE GETS A CARD TOO.
Damn it looks so sick seeing a PW carrying a Theros god weapon to fight Eldrazi. Kiora's PW card is going to look AWESOME with that Bident. I wonder if Gideon will recognize it as Thassa's and return it to Theros to restore order there if and when the Eldrazi are taken down.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I thought the Sorin art was old. If Sorin shows up in BFZ, I would suspect he would arrive (with Nahiri in tow) in the second set of the block to intervene alongside Ugin.
Wickid: Thanks for the twitter link. I'm glad Wizards can now include more 'walkers in stories without forcing a printed card. It will allow for more flexible storytelling.

Kiora is getting a card, no doubt. As are Gideon and Nissa IMO. Ugin, Jace and Sorin may not again, and Ob may get one in Act II.

There was new art of Ob Nixilis throttling a bloodied Sorin on their twitter page, as they we talking about wrapping up lose ends and how Ob Nixilis is desparate to leave Zendikar behind.
I'm happy with Gideon leading the pack. Sometimes, we just need the righteous hero that doesn't have a dark twist, but is just set out on saving the world and being badass about it. I think they made Gideon a truly engaging character.
Looks to me like an iconic battle is going to take place at the Sea Gate. It's the one that borders the Halimar sea where the lighthouse is. Can't remember which Zendikar continent it was on though.
Or, here's a thought, he's been beaten to hell and back which is why his nose is bleeding and dripping onto his lips.

It’s like the universe screams in your face, “Do you know what I am? How grand I am? How old I am? Can you even comprehend what I am? What are you, compared to me?” And when you know enough science, you can just smile up at the universe and reply, “Dude, I am you.”

Probably not- Kiora swiped it from Thassa in an attempt to steal Arixmethes from Theros.
I called her wielding it in this block-
now I have to wonder if one of its abilities will be on her new card.

Have you never hit yourself in face somehow hard? That's how your mouth would look if someone as badass as Ob did it to you.
I'd agree if he didn't have perfect teeth in the image >>
