That's awesome.
Good to finally see Lilianas version. That being said I will probably never be the owner of one of these so better not fall in love to much with it lol
I have to say, with the exception of the flipped normal version of gideon and both sides of the normal liliana, I don't care for the art direction on the planeswalkers at all this set, and the duels stuff/ pack art is even worse.
Edit: took another look- now I know why I don't much care for these- Wayne "outspread arms" Reynolds strikes again
Ok, so its decided. I want to try and go to this as bad as possible.
How much do these usually go for? And do they take credit card at the Con or straight cash?
Was there a line to buy these or did a mob of people just assault the booth selling these?
The Con was the only place to get these or did they sell some online as well?
Going off past years, your only hope is to get there *extremely* early and camp out a day or two.
Lots of people mistakenly thought getting in line at 5am the day of was early enough.
You *can* get them online,
but you'll either pay through the nose,
or have to fight for the leftovers which tend to disappear in under 5mins.

No way... people camp out 2 days early to get into Comic Con just to buy these to flip and make an extra 100-200? I could just be working those days and buy 2 lol. Like there usually isnt enough product to just buy them when you get to the Con the day it starts?

They have quite a few, but they have a very liberal limit per customer,
so the first people in line buy all of them and make tons of money
The situation would be *much* better if they limited each customer to one set.

Yup, pretty much this.
I think I timed it at 5 minutes for the first one, and 8 minutes, maybe 9 for last year's batch.
I like the addition of the Anthology instead of the Axe this year, a nice book seems really sweet.
These are going to be hard fought over, though I'll be interested in seeing the online distribution that gets set aside for after the Con.
Either way, they appear and disappear super fast on the Hasbro site so you have to be camping it pretty steadily.
Times aren't regular either, I think the first year was around midday time (PST) and then last year was around 8am (PST)

This is untrue.
I got one at Comic-Con last year and the limit was one per customer. Yes, you have to either get in line early the day of to get a Hasbro ticket (yeah a ticket to get in line at Hasbro), but once you get one of those, you almost assuredly got one. There were plenty of the Nerf Axe/Cards last year so that almost everyone in line walked away with them. Given, most people pawned it off on eBay, but if you're a player like me, you got one for MSRP. Just took a few hours of waiting. They didn't sell out of the MTG items till at least late Saturday if not Sunday and SDCC starts on Wednesday night. I didn't get my set until Saturday afternoon and in addition to the the one per customer limit, they limit the amount they sell every day (i.e. a certain number per day are allotted).
I imagine like last year Hasbro's booth will have the same deal (it's been this way for years). You wait in line in the early morning, get your ticket that says what time to get in the actual booth line, go at that time, wait another hour or so, walk away with your items. The first part is the most difficult, but it's not a two day wait and people buying more than one copy of the item. It explicitly says "one per customer."

Last year they did limit it to 1 per "badge" as they stamped a grid on the back of your badge and stamped/checked of the boxes of the exclusives you purchased. I say one per badge, since they don't valid who has the badge, you if you have more than one ticket you can get inline again with a 'clean' badge (or give your ticket to a friend. Also, you could trade exclusives while in line, like I could buy the StarWars/Transformers Exclusive [that I don't want] and trade it to a SW/TF fan who doesn't want the MtG set). I also believe they did not sell to Exhibitors/Vendors on preview-night. Each day had an allocation, so you could wait in line with a ticket, and still not get one. They completely sold-out by late Saturday afternoon.
The Key is to get a ticket for that day. There is no limit on the number of tickets you can get (though, you have get back in line for each one.) Once you have that day's ticket(s) you can recruit other fans to buy on your behalf. Not a perfect system, but it was an improvement over the previous year's limit of 2 per person. Also, camping out is essential to get a ticket. Better get in line by 8pm, probably no later than 11pm.
yeah, it's gonna be close to that. I think these 'extras' are a means to prevent/minimize hoarding @ SDCC? The first exclusive was $60-65 and I heard people were buying like 10! But, with a book/axe they can double the price without having to add 'playable' cards and folks might not buy as many?
I like the book idea more than the Nerf toy, I hope this is the new direction for extras in the future.

The book looks really amazing. I didn't know there was going to be a published version of the Uncharted Realm stories. That seems awesome! Thinking about this as a book with five promos makes 120 seem more possible. However, it is impossible to get these outside of Comic Con, right? Aww man
I'm going to be looking out for a copy of the book at the very least.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
B. Even if they weren't, who cares about getting the ultra-rare version of some card that does the exact same thing? Is everybody 5 years old and they just have to have a version of Gideon that all the other kids don't have, cuz they're a special snowflake and their MTG cards have to be extra-special to reflect that?
