Lots of spellslinger cards in this set. I'm not sure what deck I'll toss this in (probably Melek or Narset EDH), but I'm sure I'll find a place for it. Sweet, fun card. It's a mana rock that also does things! I can get behind that.
I've been thinking about building a Melek deck, but now I feel like I have to, lol.
There's so much edh stuff in this set, they should put tip-cards into booster-packs referencing the format. Unique effect for a red-themed artifact, but 5 mana pushes it into the "unplayable except in edh or kitchen table" category.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
I hope Warp World ends up in Standard with this card!

This guy, would either eat up several turns worth of mana to get a slow permanent that relies on your already have some board presence (after wasting said mana), or dies without generating any advantage.

As much as I agree with there being a lot of fodder for EDH in Origins, I feel like we have an assortment of cards that actually can work within the current Standard meta despite being heavily costed or such. I feel more excited for this set than I did with the past couple sets, including MM.
Actually, they work pretty well in tandem, especially if you're using the Goggles to cast, say, Lightning Bolt. Who knew a couple Bolts could close the game so fast? And since you're running artifacts, why not run Galvanic Blast or Shrapnel Blast while you're at it? Voltaic Key untaps the Goggles, allowing you to effectively filter into red mana and copy the spell twice. I think I feel a decklist coming on...
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I kind of like this in red control. Double a Kolaghan's Command or Electrolyze and suddenly you're swimming in CA. Even doubling something like Lightning Bolt can be huge. Double Cruel Ultimatum and you win.
It's almost certainly too slow for the formats where those cards are legal, but I want to try it out anyway.

Cool thing is that the turn you play it isn't necessarily all spent. Cast this, tap for red and double bolt? 5 mana for two bolts and this on the table seems good.
Of course, it has the problem of being a high cost card that would fit in a low curve deck, and that's awkward. Awesome for EDH and should find a spot in standard, and the coolness score is throygh the roof. Lots of fun and interesting cards in this set (I'd add "so far" but we should remember that the last ~100 cards are always limited fodder and junk, so let's save the outcry this one time please?)

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
Just kinda throwing that out there, but copying Kolagahn's Command or Crackling Doom is pretty ridiculous. Even just copying a Hordeling Outburst is pretty silly. Doubling Revel of the Fallen God makes for a pretty legit win con...5 mana is a whole bunch to invest, but with some of the tempo/CA built into some of Standard's current spells, doubling them could rapidly push a game out of reach. Traditionally cards like this haven't worked, but traditionally we haven't had a format defined by its 6, 7, and 8 drop permanents.
Truth be told, in this mana hungry Standard, I just wanna be the guy that casts 2x Demolish > flip Den Protector > 2x Demolish next turn.
I wish Firemind's Foresight was a 6 CMC spell, then it would be right on curve. It becomes a tutor for 6 cards! That's OK, it still probably wouldn't be worth it, since I could just cast & copy something else that wins me the game then and there haha. Some of the commands would be really sweet to cast & copy off of this, though.

Double Cruel Ultimatum.
Double Mob Rule for gain control of everything lol
Double up on Anger of the Gods to watch everything burn.
I'm more concerned that it might look more than a pair of goggles (look closer). They could have made it more Ray Ban-ish...

It would be kind of bananas to double a Jeskai Charm. 5 is a lot, but control could make it viable enough.

This won't work. Mob Rule is a modal card, so you choose the mode while casting and that mode gets copied when you copy the spell.
not too bad, but i think you should include at least 1 more 4-of burn spell. maybe -1 pyromancer's gauntlet, -1 Pyromancer's Goggles, -2 Chief Engineer and +4 Shrapnel Blast. i think as is it may just be too much utility and not enough burn.
Well Chain Veil is actually way more powerful than chandra's googles anyways

this is one of those cards that are so cool it doesn't matter if it's powerful enough to constructed or not.
they actually managed to make a 5 CMC mana rock that makes people excited about it.
amazing

hope this finds some kind of home, it's just to awesome to be a bulk mythic
