Additionally it exiles itself, which is always a sign of fear from Wizards, as if they imagined people would be playing it anyhow. It's also unflavorful because the great aurora is supposed to happen every X years or something because of Oona's Magic.
I'm not super into this card. I feel like it should have cost 7 and been a blue card.
That said, this is the perfect representation of what a mythic should be. A gargantuan big flashy effect, a storyline point and something unseen before, that MAY see some weird form of deck play but likely not. Great job on this card wizards.

Do most people have this view point? In my opinion the first priority of a mythic should be playability, someones going to open this bulk mythic and be pissed while someone else opens whatever the $25 staple is of origins.
No, mythics should NOT be constructed staples. I would prefer it if all mythics were cool, interesting effects like this or the black mythic Demonic Pact. Interesting, fun for casual games, and maybe powerful in janky decks built around them, but not 4-of staples that end up cost $25.
Planeswalkers and legendary cycles (think gods, dragonlords, guild leaders) are the only mythics that should be designed to be playable. Other cards intended to be staples should be rare, sometimes an occasional mythic if it's a complicated enough effect. There are only a limited number of cards that can be staples, if every mythic was one of them prices would be awful.
At 6, it would have been a hilarious silly card to play in a kitchen table game where someone builds up a dangerous lead and you want to reset the game. Still wouldn't have been a Constructed card in any format.
At 9 - In Garruk's Wake does more damage to your opponents' board positions AND does less damage to yours.
I really hate cards that are like this - they have a huge, splashy, unique and cool effect that dramatically changes the game state, but they cost 3 mana too much to even play in a low-powered game. Clone Legion comes to mind as another example, or Hedonist's Trove.
It's green, though. With green comes ramp, so you have to consider that in any deck where you're playing this, you're probably going to get it out 2-3 turns earlier with that many extra permanents more on the board. 9's a perfectly fine cost for this with that in mind.
There are absolute "I Win" effects at lower or similar mana costs even in green.
Craterhoof Behemoth, Praetor's Council, Vitalizing Wind, or (not quite as big an effect but cheaper) Avenger of Zendikar. Primal Surge in extreme build-around situations too (although it's 10).
Each of those cards is actually worth its mana cost.
Who cares if it's not an absolute win at that mana? It's fun. Could it have cost 1-2 less? Probably, but that doesn't mean much in a game of EDH.
Pretty much my point. This type of effect shouldn't have any hope of seeing non-EDH play: if you don't cost it conservatively, it would be utterly broken.
And I would argue that Counsel, Wind and Avenger aren't automatic "I-win" cards by any means. Praetor's Counsel does nothing in isolation, Vitalizing Wind doesn't solve the problem of chump blockers ruining your day, and Avenger of Zendikar's tokens don't do much if you don't have a way of boosting their P/T. The fact that I've never actually seen two of those three cards (Avenger being the odd one out) played in my many games of EDH against many different decks should say something.
And yes, Primal Surge should win you the game automatically, but that's because it basically warps your entire deckbuilding process around it. If you don't, you can very easily whiff and waste 10 mana.
That said, The Great Aurora does have one thing going for it that's been overlooked. You can float your extra mana before casting it, which in green isn't infeasible.

EDH/Commander
(W/U)(W/U)Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage: The New da Vinci (historic control)
(W/B)(W/B)Teysa Karlov: Death Be Not Kind (aristocrats)
(R/G)(R/G)Hallar, the Firefletcher: Yavimaya Burning (kicker and counters)
(B/G)(G/U)Sidisi, Brood Tyrant: Queen of the Damned (dredge)
Maybe Build
(W/U)(U/B)Aminatou, the Fateshifter: And a Child Shall Lead Them (superfriends)
Could this be used in Valakut decks as a one or 2 of? If you have the lands to cast this, you are probably getting a LOT of lands back for a wrath of mountains.
When I saw the card name in the spoiler list, I got excited.. then I saw the card. Even in EDH I can't see this getting ran.. the only decks that might get any value out of it are ones like Asuza or Titania, who could afford the 9 mana and kinda-sorta refill their hand.
And then I thought, wait. It's a FORCED draw. I could totally deck a token spamming deck with this.
(This actually feels like a blue/green effect. Possibly white/green because Terminus. But definitely not monogreen.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Hmm...how might this do in a deck full of Manlands? I'm seeing some potential in a land-focused deck here. You obviously want Reliquary Tower so you don't end up discarding your whole hand at the end of the turn.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Stupid card. I get angry when I see BS like this. This card is a warning beacon that shrieks "DON'T OPEN PACKS OF THIS SET!!!!" Seriously disappointed with almost all of the spoilers this season. This card stepped in it hard.

My favorite flavor text: Time of Heroes
Feel free to tell me yours!
I can only imagine what happened when this card was designed...
"Hey guys I had this idea about a blue mythic that sorta rewinds the game. In fact, it was already approved for origins. But don't worry, it costs a million mana, so it won't shake up any format whatsoever."
"Hmm, but wouldn't that be an issue in commander? We thought worldfire was fine, but we forgot one of those ancient red/blue commanders. Jhoira of the something was her name, I think.
"well... ****!!!"
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
There has to be a funky deck that can chain four of these things in a row to win. Perhaps not in standard, but most assuredly in modern. The trouble would be getting around counter magic or keeping the first one in your hand.
Pretty nice how the lands are untapped. If one player has notably more permanents they'll probably win a huge portion of the games where this is cast. There's a slim chance this could see standard play if BFZ really cranks up the Eldrazi spawn tokens.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.

When I tap 9 mana for a sorcery I want more than "If one player has notably more permanents they'll probably win a huge portion of the games where this is cast."
Now if it only it was sacrifice rather than shuffle, this would be so much more interesting. It might still be viable in Azusa turboland, but in Titania, by the time I've got enough permanents out to make this a game changer, I'd rather just, you know... win?
Love it. After Starfield of Nyx and Demonic Pact, another super-flavorful card.
Not that I would like to open it (or play it in Limited, for the record) but for a Vorthos, this is pure win.
Quite a nice reset button in EDH as well.
This. Origins has a lot of really neat flavor cards that leaves a Vorthos like me pretty impressed. I was surprised they finally made a card for this process, and even for Nyx itself
I don't really get the hate on this card (EDH perspective).
Consider if instead the card read: 3GGG Shuffle all non-lands permanents into their owner's libraries. This would be huge for mono-green. All is Dust (and other colorless/artifacts) are the only sweepers available in mono-green. Having a uniquely green boardsweeper is a big deal.
Now, let's add in the land element. Essentially we are taking the above card and adding 3 to the cost, but also essentially untapping all lands. Therefore, this isn't so much a 9-mana game ender as it is a 0 mana mono-green sweeper that you can only cast once you have ramped up a little bit. This is really more like Spire Golem than anything else, in that it provides something decent, for no cost, but only after the game has evolved to a certain point.
Shuffling hands and redrawing is largely a non-issue, unless I'm missing something.
Shuffling hands and permanents is interesting in that if well timed can be used to deck-out people and/or be used to draw your entire deck guaranteeing a combo (considering all the lands in your deck are now untapped).
Putting a bunch of lands into play at once is potentially interesting (Valakut), so maybe this does something in GR, but without some sort of emblem (which I don't think exists yet) or land which triggers on other lands (like Valakut) this is currently a lost opportunity, though something that may make this card more interesting in the future.
So in short, we get a sweeper in green (badly needed), which is free (though not immediately castable), which potentially just wins the game when resolved, and potentially interacts with other cards (which don't exist yet except Valakut). Seem decent.

Yeah. Being a Vorthos was quite a painful thing last 3 or so years (save for Theros), but it seems it is starting to repay in very short time. Way to go!
