Perhaps this card will open the way for Containment Priest sometime in the near future. Maybe they are just testing the waters for this kind of effect?
This looks like the card they create to answer a specific threat and avoid having a metagame dominated by one strategy. They have such flex spots in each set for that.
Nice one.
This is kinda huge for Modern. Collected Company decks popped up and have become quite successful and the ways to deal with it are not that plentiful. This changes things.
Also stuff like Griselbrand reanimator will cry when this is played against them.
Also guys read the card again this also hoses tokens since it only says creatures and not nontoken creatures like Containment Priest
This in combination with Infinite Obliteration will destroy all COCO decks as well as any creature based combo decks anywhere else. Hurts Twin, reanimate decks, all coco decks...They just took a giant deuce on a major archetype. Thanks wizards. Ruining magic has always been your top priority. My question is why ban pod when they new Infinite Obliteration was going to be printed? HUGE OVERSIGHT!
Take that Collected Company, Birthing Pod, Deathmist Raptor, Dread Return, Goryo's Vengeance, Reanimate, Exhume, Splinter Twin, Kiki-Jiki, Restoration Angel, Flickerwisp, Through the Breach, Show and Tell, Sneak Attack, Tooth and Nail, Dark Depths, Lingering Souls, Spectral Procession, Empty the Warrens, and countless other cards. This is going to be sweet.

and Living End
Living End is part of "countless other cards". While this card is great, I think it should have said nonland permanent instead of creature so that it could stop Omniscience with Show and Tell.
The cantripping and only one colored pip should make this pretty solid. Nice as part of a toolbox, but now that Kolaghan's Command exists I have a much harder time imagining that a Teachings deck would play white.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
What's interesting is that this card doesn't have the nontoken clause like Containment Priest does, so it can be useful for a lot more scenarios. It effectively counters a lot of relevant spells in Modern, and it even cantrips? Not bad.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

A'www does someone feel like all control players feel whenever we see cards like Whisperwood Elemental? Or the Deathmist Raptor/Den Protector combo
For Standard I see no huge reason to sideboard it just yet.
I think Deathmist Raptor is enough reason. It's also a cantrip so really it's possibly the best raptor hate card available. Not as main deckable as Anger of the Gods, but easier to cast and I can stop killing my own Mantis Riders.
I don't quite get how this is such a huge blowout for decks like twin / CoCo or deathmist raptor, since all of these abilities on those cards are voluntary. I mean, I suppose it means that you collected company for no creatures, or you flip a morph and they cast this in response to stop you from returning your raptors, but it doesn't actually exile them since you cant respond after the creatures already hit the field, you have to respond while the effect that's putting them there is on the stack. It does stop twin (for that turn, and without actually removing the creature with twin), and it stops griselbrand reanimator, however. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.
Functionally, it's a super-narrow counterspell that A) cantrips and B) isn't blue. The super-narrow things it "counters" are powerful and fairly widespread in Modern, as I understand it, so this seems like a good sideboard tool for white-but-not-blue decks. I guess U/W decks too, but you only have so much room in your sideboard, so if you're putting this in when you already have access to counters it seems like that's really focusing on beating a couple specific decks.
Basically, I'm saying that people are jumping the gun if they're proclaiming the death of this deck or that deck. It's pretty rare that the printing of even a very strong sideboard card actually kills a deck. (That happens a little later, when the hate card fails to kill it off and Wizards dusts off the banhammer )

You can't have Containment Priest in Modern, but at least you can have this.
Important note: This actually stops tokens from entering, unlike the hatebear.

Yup, this card is insane for modern.
Um, for modern this is far better than containment priest. This can even act as a one turn answer for Twin when you're desperate.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Well, against coco, they just spent 4 mana and a card to do absolutely nothing. So it's like a really great counterspell.
