Ugh, why are we not getting Murder or at least Doom Blade variants? This is ludicrously overcosted for only adding 2 life gain, which isn't even worth one colorless mana even if it weren't also conditional. Between this, yet another Lightning Javelin reprint, and Fiery Impulse I'm really disappointed with the quality of removal we're getting. Not even any good pacifism effects for limited.
It's fairly obviously a limited card. I'm holding on to all my Hero's Downfall, it's named vague enough to see a reprint whenever and easily fills the "universal and cheap" idea you're thinking of- which, by the way, now seems to be rare worthy.
I honestly wouldn't hold your breath for a Murder like card for a short while. Downfall will likely be replaced in BFZ (not Origins), Ultimate Price is probably going to be the #2 creature killer for a long while, and maybe (maybe) Radiant Purge will matter if BFZ freaks out about multicolor.
Favorite card of the set so far, going to be a nice addition for my abzan midrange. Something to shut those stupid dragons up. Or a possible tack on to G/W bolster
Archangel of Tithes is good anti-Twin tech for decks that can cast him. May replace of my Ghostly Prisons in the side-board.
Ghostly Prison does not shut off when tapped. What exactly prevents them to use the last of the created copies of Mite/Exarch to tap the angel and shut it off?
White devotions problem was never really the white symbols but that you had nothing to enable devotion for. The mana payoff was crap and there was no pushed devotion card in white.

Most common removal spells are either expensive or narrow these days. Unholy Hunger, Reave Soul? Just are par for the course these days since they feel that limited should be more heavily about creatures. In fact, they don't always have an upside to them at 5 mana, sometimes all they do is kill. There is still room in the set for a good uncommon and/or rare removal spell though, no need to panic yet.
The Angel is pretty sweet. I'm a bit tired of nearly all of the interesting cards being creatures though. Creatures aren't "magic", they're creatures.
How are elves, angels, demons and dragons not magical? And I really do not get it - people still not understanding that "spells only" lacks gameplay.
Creatures interact with players. Creatures can be interacted with by players. Hiding behind a Necropotence and a plethora of spells that abruptly end a game lacks gameplay.
Ps. Terror had to become Doom Blade, which now is Ultimate Price. Yes. Spells have been that good for years.
Spells can interact with players, spells can interact with creatures, spells can interact with other spells, having to play around spells (unknown information usually) is far more intricate gameplay than simply having to do combat math. I don't think anyone reasonable wants necropotence back, but for some of us we would much rather do the control dance than simply drop creatures into play. That playstyle too often feels like hurr-durrr barsh ju flat guud. yeah. I know that aggro takes its own skill set and it isn't all mindless bashing, but that doesn't stop it from feeling that way sometimes when you prefer to be a waterdancer rather than a westerosi knight.
The problem with white devotion isn't achieving it. It's doing so for what purpose. Other than nythakos... that card is great in any deck that can use it.
It's no use complaining about common removal. It's the age we live in. I'll happily draft this overcosted kill spell, just like I happily drafted Reach of Shadows.
Now what is annoying is when they take that overcosted removal spell and make it sorcery speed. I'm still not sure why Rite of the Serpent was printed.
Angel is decent. I am confused about the talk of modern application though... that's seems quite unlikely. Anyways, I tried a monoW deveotion strategy a few months back, with the payoff card being mastery of the unseen. It was a pretty ridiculous deck with a 90% winrate against red and a 90% loserate against control. Decent against abzan because of cards like hidden dragonslayer, but definitely wouldn't take it to anything other than FNM.
WHY DOES THIS ANGEL LOOK LIKE NAHIRI A BIT?! Sorry caps, but honestly it looks a bit like the lithomancer. Could Sorin have tried to change her into a new avaycn?

I'm confused with Unholy Hunger...when they already have flesh to dust at the same CMC...which they try to avoid in sets to have 2 spot removal spells at the same CMC especially at common...Besides the "can't be regenerated" clause they should have just made Murder at uncommon...
The killspell is for limited, we need one in black every set.
The angel is fantastic. Main downside is that WWW cost (in the color with the worst ability to use devotion, UUU could be return of MUD, GGG is some big ramp, WWW is all downside). Between her, Brimaz, a couple of WW 2-drops, and 1-drops like Gideon, mono white devotion could have been a deck if it had anything to actually use devotion on. (Evangel of Heliud is not good, and Nykthos ramp isn't helpful)
Her body is quite solid, 3 power is meh, but 5 toughness lets her block pretty much everything except stormbreath dragon and a few green fatties. Surviving Languish is pretty relevant as well. With her out, the opponent pretty much needs to spend 2 every turn to attack (as she will block one). Turn 4 is early enough to matter against aggro decks, forcing them to choose between attacking and playing a creature or burn. Before Pod banning I would have expected to see her there as a way to stop Twin.
Unfortunately for her, I really don't see where she could be played right now, WWW is just hard to cast. Abzan doesn't want her, no reason to even try to make her castle when they have Siege Rhino. Mardu same thing, they are focused on Dragons and can't fit her in. Control decks are mostly UB or Esper right now, not UW, so wouldn't be able to cast her consistently enough to act as a wall against aggro. Unless something changes drastically, any WG or WB deck is probably just worse than abzan. A RW deck would want to be aggro, where a 3-power 4-drop is not playable (even if she made your board unblockable, which she doesn't, that probably wouldn't be enough). While I think she is an amazing card and will see play at some point, I think her mana requirements make her unplayable for the moment. I do wonder if she will be one of several cards between origins and BFZ with heavy color requirements to push the format back toward one and two colored decks (they like to shift standard away from previous themes, Tarkir had wedges and dragons as the themes)
Not sure why people think this would somehow stop twin. Twin just taps her at the end of producing an oodle of creatures and boom she does nothing at all.
The angel is very good. It will definitely see modern play although probably in hate bears or death and taxes neither of which are tier 1. The restrictive manacost is going to keep it from being too expensive which makes me happy because I want it.
Disclamer: White weenies/ devotion could suddenly become a teir 1 deck in standard and throw off my prediction.
