Creature - Hydra
Trample
Whenever a player casts a spell, put a +1/+1 counter on Managorger Hydra.
1/1
Mmm. This might be part of a cycle considering we had Blessed Spirits which was 3 mana, had a form of evasion and got a +1/+1 counter whenever an enchantment came into play. If it is part of a cycle, I imagine that it's trigger won't be quite as liberal as the Facebook crowd have determined it to be.

This is a rare though, and Spirits is only an uncommon.

Alright, in any case...I'm not quite sure if this could fit in Standard. I mean, the deck this wants to go into is an aggressive green deck so it can be pumped more reliably by your own spells, but...the three-drop space for most decks is pretty filled right now. All green decks have to think about Deathmist Raptor. Abzan has Anafenza, Brimaz, Boon Satyr/Herald of Torment (kinda differs on preference, really). Sultai doesn't really HAVE aggro decks. Temur has Savage Knuckleblade, Goblin Rabblemaster, sometimes even Yasova Dragonclaw. This doesn't exactly fit nicely on the curve, since it needs other spells to boost its usefulness, and so....I don't see it getting anywhere in Standard. Despite how much I'd love to see it.
Well when Theros rotate anything can happen so this Hydra might have a spot.It has potential so is soemthing to look out for and if its cheap is worth getting a playset just in case

Fair enough. Wasn't sure if rarity mattered for cycles.
This is a worse Forgotten Ancient in that even if it's one mana less it has 2 less toughness. Forgotten Ancient was a YMTC back in the day, a much better one than Waste Not.
costs 1 less
+1/-2
trample
The toughness is the only way it can be considered 'worse'. This has a bunch of tempo advantage. And with Hardened Scales, unless your opponent immediately bolts it and you don't cast anything (even something as normally-irrelevant as Ambush Viper), it gets too big for burn or -X/-X to remove it very quickly.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Interesting. Obvious comparisons to Quirion Dryad and Forgotten Ancient. Could be a thing in Standard, possibly, but with this "herpa-durr everything is too powerful" mindset making me long for Mercadian Masques even, who knows if enough spells will be cast to make it worth it.
Well I have to say it might be worth it as an assist to GW decks right now in a midrange stratagy. Just not sure if other 3 drops beat it out, or if its cont. build stratagy will work. Pretty cool it triggers off an opponents spells though.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I love the art and effect of this card. At first glance I thought it was an Enchantment Creature with the Nyx star field. But it's not... ugh I wish we knew what plane each of these cards were from. Theros has many Hydras but I can't be sure if this is a native there. Some cards are more obvious (Bant armor, Vryn mage circles, etc.) but others are killing me to figure out the setting.

No way. Not to mention that deck wont exist for much longer anyway. Once Caryatid rotates that deck will die.
This will see play.
Feel free to tell me yours!

Also this guy with Hardened Scales seems really cool
The trample really makes this card.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Forgotten Ancient with Trample for 1 less mana? count me in.
It´s SO going into my Life from the Loam and Raven's Crime deck.
Despite design's fetish for reach in recent years, there's never been a hydra with it.
