I wonder if we take Leaf Gilder as an indication that Elvish Mystic will not be in origins. It would seem odd to print both of them in the same set to me but I guess its not an indication it wont be here so much as a hunch.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Syncopate would have been nice for dealing with Deathmist Raptor but I don't think this strictly worse version is horrible. Getting spells countered might be coming back into standard in a big way.
Languish is excellent. Not better than Damnation in EDH, obviously, but debatably better in standard and modern. The fact that this synergizes amazingly well with two of the best black creatures in both formats (Rhino/Tasigur) is not a small deal, and if your opponent is playing with creatures that survive this, then that's why you run spot removal. Certainly a chase card, though admittedly a bit soft to 'Goyf.
Not sure how Renown is going to play out. Doesn't really seem like a constructed mechanic, and even in limited it seems like a bit of a trap. If you're opponent is letting these guys through, then they're probably already a bit bigger than they can deal with, so the ability doesn't do much except speed up a race. The trample guy is a bit more interesting just because his evasion makes him a must-remove threat, but that's not exactly fresh gameplay, imo. I don't really see why this mechanic was worth making.
Languish... destroy all creatures with toughness 4 or less, even the ones that have indestructible or protection, and they can't be regenerated. I like that card. It's not exactly Damnation, but it's got a purpose, abso-freaking-lutely. In the right deck, against various matchups, I'd rather have it than a Damnation.
Enshrouding Mist is pretty darn good, too. Strictly better (in numerous ways) than Shielded Passage and makes me curious about what kind of Renown cards we're about to get. Renown in general is so flavorfully awesome that I hope we see more of it than just in this set, it was an instantaneous flavor home-run for me as soon as I saw the Relic Hunter.
Rhox Maulers makes me happy that they're willing to pair Renown with Trample, the two go very well together. Menace would also be a good ability to pair with Renown.
For what is worth, i took a snap of the home page where you can see the two promo cards for the upcoming clash pack. The image has been replaced since.
Looks like a green dude and a big GW flyer.
Cards should be spoiled wednesday.
Oh interesting.
Looks like Arashin Sovereign lol. Hope not.
I'm the only one who caught a glimpse of an uncensored clash pack? I swear to have seen a GW dragon as the right card before reshuffling the page. I wish I had took a screenshot...

I'm looking at that right now. The two front cards are some kind of a green creature for G and a GW dragon, most likely Hero of Leina Tower and Dromoka, the Eternal.
Clash of wills, I'll play it despite its strickly worseness, you learn in standard you wont always getting the most powerful cards. I am sick of having to choose between disdainful stroke and negate
Langish is very powerful a whole 1 mana cheaper than crux is a big deal it kills none of my creatures whille hitting Ojutai.
The others are all quite good in limited, where I am sure to enjoy the set. Geting through is going to be very important with this mechanic and thats a nasty defensive combat trick.
Could the green card be a new card? I am aware that hasn't been the case with previous clash packs but it could be part of why they don't want to show the face cards today.
Languish looks really solid in modern. Goyf, siege rhino, tasigur, and angler all live through it.
Notable creatures that probably aren't paired in color that survive are wurmcoil, titans, and.... And that's it?
For people complaining about Clash of Wills rarity, uncommons like this are given their rarity depending more on how good they are in limited formats as opposed to how they are used competitively or how powerful they are compared to cards printed in other sets. Clash of Will effects are strong in limited and while this card isn't an early pick or a draft around, playing against a deck running three or four of these and three or four Cancels (or whatever common counter spell they print) would just be unfun.
I also like the flavour of Clash of Wills, it makes sense that the "play UX counter target spell unless your opponent plays X," would be called "Clash of Wills"- just like Murder made so much sense even though flavour it's strictly worse substitute for Doom Blade. It will also see play in decks which just want a reliable and flexible counter effect, even if it does lack the bonuses of Syncopate or Condescend.
Languish kills Monstrous Fleecemane Lion. That really is a big deal.
It wrecks Abzan Aggro pretty well in general. Only Siege Rhino survives, and that can get stuffed pretty well by a number of other things. I expect Abzan Control to run several of these going forward.
Worse Condescend. Kind of depressing considering scry is actually in this set
That card has no business existing. They've printed like 5 strictly better versions of it. They could have at least made it a common.
It's the core set. The purpose is to have the simplest version of the effect. It's not like the existence of Cancel has stopped them from printing strictlybetterversions.

Send to Sleep is cool too, I'd take that over Frost Breath without question.

I'm looking at that right now. The two front cards are a green creature for G and a GW dragon, most likely Hero of Leina Tower and Dromoka, the Eternal.
The amount of text on the left card doesn't work for Hero of Leina Tower, but the right fits perfectly for Dromoka, the Eternal.
That card has no business existing. They've printed like 5 strictly better versions of it. They could have at least made it a common.
Well, there are no other rare green creatures for G in Standard right now, also she would fit the theme of +1/+1 counters.
And why doesn't the text work? The second part could be a new flavor text.
I approve of these cards.

It's probably a new card from Origins. Maybe one with Renown, for the +1/+1 counter synergy.

My thought exactly. Although, Power Sink is an harsh reminder of Blue's power of that bygone era...
This said, I don't know why, but it's the first time I want to buy all 5 intro packs. For a last core set, it seems really sweet and flavourful.
