Wait, what is every talking about "money sh--......"
*looks at art*
Oh, well. Nevermind.
Glad to see Serum Visions enter back into the market. Also good to see WotC helping their store owners with FNM turnout. I know I'm going to be much more likely to show up to *insert non-standard FNM here* because of Path and Visions.
We were all thinking it, and you just went out and said it. *Claps*

And isn't it a bit early to announce the August FNM promo? We learned about Path on April 23rd; I'm guessing they hurried the announcement out to help with the backlash of it being omitted from MM15.
The usually announce the FNM promos for the upcoming months at the end of the current month. The fact it was spoiled today is most definitely a hasty reaction to the horrible feedback MM15 has been getting (which is more than justified)
You're very likely right.
The art sucks.
I don't see this affecting the price much if at all. Its good that its reprinted, but its reprinted in the wrong place. Unless its reprinted again in Origins.
I don't know, I think given the current atmosphere from MM2 the art is very fitting. It shows exactly how Wizards thinks of us and that we should be happy and just take it.
(This is just a joke please don't take too seriously.)
Its reprint threads like this that really put the MTGS community in perspective. Please complain some more! Nopevisions is a great reprint.
Yeah it should have been in mm2--but like so should have a hundred other cards in the overhyped set--oops! Wizards isn't about lowering prices with sought-after reprints, they're about putting cards in binders so you at least have an option to trade for them--a fact we all need to ...swallow.
Really, I think the art is perfect. Its now about my three favorite things, drugs, magic, and sex.
Not reprinted in the set that needed it, a $8 common reprinted only as an FNM foil....
I remember when everyone thought Modern would overtake Legacy. Between this and MM2, I could never be happier to play the format and laugh at every idiot that attempted to invest in a deck only to have it banned and still have to pay 200 for goyfs.
Play a good format. Modern was doomed from the start.
Guys, I get that the art might look suggestive, but please leave the sexual content out of your posts. This is a safe-for-work website, let's keep it that way. Thanks.

This. They are a business, and if suddenly modern became even more popular than standard, and nearly everyone got every staple of the format, the interest to keep investing would drastically reduce, and their sells may plummet.
Why would I buy another pack ever if I only played modern and already got all the modern staples? Maybe if I wanted cards from the new sets, which on the long run would imply unhealthy power creep.
If they keep supply limited, they could even support a lot of Modern tournaments and profit from it on the long run, probably forever.
It's expensive for us, yes, but it's the clearest way to keep it sustainable.
PD: I apologize for the inappropriateness. It's not that I simply ignored the mod message, I had the misfortune to finish writing and posting a few moments after him.
Still, Deep Analysis got a new friend.
I think the card's art perfectly captures the idea of offering a solution to an $8 common by offering a $20+, alt-art, limited edition, promo foil "reprint."

This reprint has done wonders it will keep the price in check (at $10) and they were smart making it the august promo because it wont start creeping up until after august.
The difference between this and path is people want path for all sorts of decks so its a great promo. Serum visions only modern players need/want it.
How much do FNM promos usually affect prices? Will this drop its price at all?
FNM promos are generally of standard-legal uncommons, which means they're things that aren't particularly pricey to begin with. The Stoke the Flames promo is sitting at about $5, with the regular still at $4, so it didn't exactly ease that price much.
This will add some supply, but basically to the tune of ~16 copies per store.

Wizards gotta protect the value of people hoarding serum visions. This kills my hopes for an actual reprint. And the art is beyond absurd. Why shouldn't they have printed it in Theros, just slightly re-flavor serum as some mystical extract or something.

It was driving me nuts, but I finally figured out what it reminds me of... it looks like Mega Man from the box art of the first couple of games for the NES.

What are the rules regarding handing out of these promos? Since other formats are now sanctioned for FNM do we get them for playing anything or standard only?
I believe it is up to the store itself as to what format to run and how they distribute FNM promos. They can hold formats such as modern as FNM events and hand these out at them. You will need to contact your LGS to see how they plan to handle promos that month but requesting something in advance tends to help.

Why did you have to say that! Now I cannot un-see it!

Please? Please. I want this card to be actually attainable without having to play Standard.

Thing it really should just get a reprint. Not a crappy FNM foil. You better believe I will be attempting to snap up every Promo I can.

Probably not, MaRo said that Serum and Path are FNM promo's to celebrate Modern Masters 2, thus inferring that they will not be in Origins.
