I can't understand why any modern players are upset. I mean these are free cards. All you need to do is spend a few hundred bucks on standard cards, maybe a few dozen hours playtesting, and you next couple of Friday nights, and whoila. Free modern staples. I can't believe wizards is so supportive of the modern community.
Or you can tell your LGS that you want modern FNM...
And isn't it a bit early to announce the August FNM promo? We learned about Path on April 23rd; I'm guessing they hurried the announcement out to help with the backlash of it being omitted from MM15.
They probably let is slip a bit early because everyone was pissed it wasn't in MM15.
The Cantrips aren't too strong, even the banned in modern ones. They're just problemtatic when Wizards prints other broken cards. If Wizards has done a good job with a standard format, then preordain and ponder would be fine.
It boggles the mind that so many cards are "too strong for standard" and yet not only were they all in standard once but lo and behold, Magic survived their stay in it.
I think they seem to feel if anything makes it into a Vintage, Legacy, or Modern deck then it is too strong for a smaller card pool with standard. Even if the cards didn't preform at all in the standard environments they were in.
It is interesting to see things get unbanned that were in the initial ban for modern and not even have a ripple on the format.
Seems like some cards shine really well in small card pools and fall apart in large ones. Similarly some things shine in large card pools and do nothing in small ones. Though in their eyes if something becomes really good under a certain condition then it is broken forever in any condition.
I am glad that they made this as a FNM promo, I am just not overly fond of the art they selected. I own plenty of copies and with the art what it is I guess it might put a few more copies out there.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
In normal circumstances, I'd be delighted to see this. But I can't shake the feeling that R&D believes this is an adequate reprint for this card. Much like the GP Liliana promo.
Or you can tell your LGS that you want modern FNM...
We do modern at least twice a month...
I've tried. No one cares about Modern where I live. They all want draft or Standard. No one shows up for anything else. There's shops further away, but I'm not driving 60 miles one way to play Magic.
Good lord, I'm looking at a map of my area, and this place is just absolutely barren in regards to comic book and gaming shops.
Also, this promo is hideous. I'll stick to the regular ones I have.
Please don't randomly post your address on the board, not a good idea. -LouCypher
I kinda feel bad for WOTC atm, they were on a roll with Tarkir, then MM2 killed it dead in it's tracks.
It's also kinda crazy when these professional artists that Magic hires, make such basic compositional mistakes. How in any way does liquid metal being shot at your face imply inspiration?

Take your address outta that Google Maps link, dude! Don't go sharing that stuff on the internet where anyone can see it.
Heh, houses are packed in so tight here, that GPS is never right about addresses.
Probably not, MaRo said that Serum and Path are FNM promo's to celebrate Modern Masters 2, thus inferring that they will not be in Origins.
Yes, and as we all know, Maro never goes back on his word.
Can you give one example of when he has gone back on his word?
Now it may not be "gone back on his word" enough, but when talking about Damnation being reprinted in FTV: Annihilation I believe he said something along the lines of "If a card isn't in a product and it seems obvious it means it will be in something else soon." (Of course I could be remembering wrong and this rough quote may not be right at all, but I am sure that is what was said.) We have been through MM2 and Commander 2014 without seeing it so far and it can't be reprinted in many places, unless we see the unbelievable and it shows up in Origins.

I'm not going to count it as that would be harder to acquire than Annihilation would have been with it inside. Damnation could easily have been reprinted with the Judge foil as something like a reprint in MM2 would not have affected the price of the foil.
I think it will be best if people stop thinking of Serum Visions a common. I am pretty convinced we wont see a 1 mana blue good cantrip at common ever again. Anticipate fits the flatter power curve of commons in NWO. If visions were to come back it will be uncommon like bolt. So $10 for a modern staple uncommon is rough but not really all that bad. I am guessing this will keep the regular versions around 10 and the promo will be $15ish.
It's an iconic useful card, gives value to FNM players, I couldn't be happier with the choice. Yes I would like to have seen it in MM15 but it is better this than no reprint or another crap standard card that never goes anywhere.

I'm sorry but I have a higher standard that "it could be worse." I expected way better.

My problem with Visions is not the was $7 now $10. It is the fact that when I go to my shop noone has any, let alone for trade. My small shop doesn't have any for trade. Now this wont fix that but the mostly standard players will probably gladly trade it out for a Thunderbreak Reagent or whatever standard pop items that will loss its value a few months after I draft it.
From the perspective of across these blocks I think it would be fine but we did move into Theros with UW control being very very powerful at the time.

Gotta love how some people are never happy: either the promo sucks or it should have been in MM15
There's no pleasing that crowd
You know who will be very pleased? LGSs, great move for them and for that I tip my hat to WotC
