Seems they shifted the money up to the rares and mythics. All but one mythic is more than worth opening versus last time where most were not worth it. Still wish they would of given a little more love to some of the commons and uncommons that are over priced and would of been nice to have in here. With a lot of common and uncommons missing they are still being really cautious on putting too much value and printing too much. I will reserve judgement on drafting as I am bad at figure out that without playing and reading up articles from better players than myself.
Also hilarious -- it's pretty much impossible to play Daybreak Coronet in the limited format.
I can just imagine R&D having designed the modern frame for Daybreak Coronet with the all-new Brimaz art all ready for Theros block - AND OH CRAP, IT'S TOO OVERPOWERED. Ummm, kick it out of the set. What are we going to do with this new art? Let's shove it into Modern Masters 2015. Is there enchantment design space for it? No? Oh well, people will like to see it anyways.
I'm SUPER disappointed with the uncommons. Rares and mythics I'm very happy with, but this set is just full of missed opportunities. I'm not going to be as melodramatic just because serum visions isn't in the set, and on a whole I do think it's a better set than MM1, but I expected more.
I'm utterly shocked not to see serum visions on there. I do hope that's not a sign wizards want to get rid of the last 1 mana cantrip. They said it wouldn't get printed in standard again so where else would it come...?
Also goblin guide and blood moon missing is a big question mark. I can't see either in standard anytime soon since red has so many powerful 1 drops already that are not about to rotate out and blood moon is a huge killjoy for standard.
I suppose from a limited point of view they didn't want to include path and helix when there is already bolt and electrolyse, not that I'm happy with that.
So wow...there were SO many cards that I figured were a lock-in that aren't here. Cards that definitely needed reprinting:
Merrow Rejeerey and Cursecatcher (how'd they miss making Merfolk a thing? Cursecatcher is a fantastic card on it's own, doesn't even need tribal support) Damnation(It's absence from FTV seemed to GUARANTEE it was in MM) Horizon Canopy and Grove of the Burnwillows (two stupidly-expensive and highly played lands that have never been reprinted and probably wouldn't work in Standard today) Serum Visions (WHAAAAAAAT $8 COMMON?! how did this NOT get reprinted? I mean it SHOULD have been in Theros, then it SHOULD have been in DD: Elspeth v Kiora...what's the deal with this card) Aven Mindcensor (people have been asking for a reprint of this forever. Another stupidly-expensive modern-era uncommon. How did they miss it?) Dyrad Arbor (Sees play in Modern, EDH and...maybe elsewhere? Definitely needed a reprint and it's probably not a card we're seeing in Standard anytime soon) Creeping Tar Pits (Along with Colonnade, maybe the GW one. Definitely cards that need a reprint. Apparently WOTC thinks manlands are "too strong" for Standard now  so when will we ever see these again? Commander DDs?) Blood Moon ($30 for a sideboard card that's been printed 5 times including a reprint just a few years ago is ridiculous) Path to Exile (huge staple in Modern and even EDh that remains expensive despite many printings. It's on the "should always be in sets like this" list)
Probably a whole host of other cards that should have been here but aren't for some reason.
Based on all these missed opportunities with bigwig cards... I am just imagining...
Summer 2016 - COMMANDER MASTERS... We stopped caring about the limited environment, try to build some limited deck with major staples, huge CMCs, and some interaction. Only 20 bucks a pack! (Pst. We also peppered in cards that should have been in last year's Modern Masters too, we admit - we dropped the ball).
Remand and spellskite is pretty much all I want from this set. I mean I am very glad to see remand get another reprint. I gues fulminator mage is also nice I guess but I don't need one atm.
instill infection... really? it is pretty much the worst card recently printed in magic, my LGS has a pile of them.

Grove of the Burnwillows and Horizon Canopy got bumped off early in the Name and Number Crunching thread, I was okay with that. I was *hoping* that Linvala would get downshifted to Rare in between Leyline of Sanctity and Mirran Crusader, and it ends up being... Mighty Leap.
I *was* going to take consolation in the fact that Noble Hierarch, Spellskite and Smash to Smithereens were reprinted, but man... is anyone going to draft this at $10 a pack now that it's fully spoiled?
Not trying to be greedy here, but *none* of the following were reprinted:
AEther Vial
Auriok Champion
Aven Mindcensor
Azusa, Lost but Seeking
Blood Moon
Crucible of Worlds
Damnation
Doubling Season
Ensnaring Bridge
Filter lands
Goblin Guide
Inkmoth Nexus
Linvala, Keeper of Silence
Scapeshift
Serum Visions
And Kiki gets reprinted again?
I feel like two or three from that list would have gone a long way to improve the set. But seriously, no Aven Mindcensor or Serum Visions?
I picked up a Mindcensor a few weeks ago for SCG Cleveland, grumbling that it was sure to be reprinted in a few weeks... can't believe I was wrong on that one.
As a whole, the money cards that are in here are still good for me. I have some serious concerns about how playable this will be as a draft format though. It feels like the synergy between the trash cards is still not that impressive in comparison to having had rebels in the last one.
The commons / uncommons turned out worse than I had really expected. It seems odd when comparing the MM1 commons / uncommons to this set I feel like wizards sort of missed their mark here.
As far as how much value vs the cost of the product, I think it will probably still be fine. I had expected a better setup for what we had left as well as the commons / uncommons which I am a little surprised on but as a whole I think this product will probably do fine. Its a bit of a sticker shock to reveal everything and have no gems left though.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

People would still eat that ***** up, willingly pay $24 for it, and then complain about how Wizards is stupid and greedy. Just wait.
Wow. So... does that make Serum Visions a lock for the August FNM promo? Inquisition of Kozilek is printable just about anywhere they like, but I don't see us getting scry back anytime soon. Not putting Serum Visions in MM15 seems like it is either an oversight or a hint.
Now that I think about it, I would bet they are testing the waters to see if this downgrading the quality of the set will keep it at the $10-15 dollar mark, they did "mess that up" last time. If this actually holds a steady value and sees plenty of draft play they have good reason to keep printing Modern Masters as a set archetype.
If that's the case, I'm cool with that.
edit: plus, as many of noted, this is reprinting some hard to obtain or overpriced rares, and that is a good thing and I look forward to it.
. But before we complain too much, just remember we got Hiarch (as a rare!), Wilt-Leaf Liege, Remand, Goyf/Bob/Clique/CC, and some other valuable stuff. And every mythic besides Comet Storm is amazing.
Pardon my sarcasm but "oh boy! We got a reprint of a card AT RARE!! that was always rare and doesn't deserve to be anything BUT rare, along with a handful of other RARES that were bumped up to MYTHIC to sell packs but keep their price artificially inflated to appease investo..I mean "collectors" who don't think they should ever lose money on their investment in a game based on pieces of cardboard that cost pennies to print. Oh! And a severely-overpriced uncommon and rare that didn't really become expensive until a few months ago!
Yeah...I'm just not feeling this one at all. Especially not at more than double the retail price of normal boosters and triple the price of an average box.
Yeah, that is bizarre, the only positive auras are Goblin War Paint and Splinter Twin.

No Serum Visions is inexcusable.

Yeah, should you open a Hellkite Charger, i wish you don't, just play him turn one and turn him sideways. Take a deep breath and enjoy the moment.
Then return him in your opening hand warning your opponent that right now he/she would have been 18 life points...
