Do we really think there are 250 some odd "Modern staples?" And all of those wouldn't lump together to make a good limited environment. And no, I don't think an MM set not designed for limited but still priced the same would fly off the shelves. There's no way in hell I'm spending ten dollars on a pack even if I stand a solid chance of getting a $250 Goyf. I don't know if it's been mentioned as to the size of this one's print run but last years was a mistake. Hopefully this year they're making a larger print run.
It's true there are only so many staples, but come on-
This could easily have been replaced by Scion of Oona, Gilded Lotus, Eldrazi Monument,
or some similar card that isn't worth much,
but is still fun and/or useful in a format like EDH or Cube
(or hey, maybe even... Modern!)
There is literally *no* excuse for Limited-only Rares in a set like this.
There are plenty of cheap rares people actually want.
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
Melek, Izzet Paragon
Oona, Queen of the Fae
Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Rhys the Redeemed
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord

I believe the product the people who have complaints on this being a draft set are looking for is called from the vault. That is the product that meets the needs of what you want.
The first Modern Masters had only 10 Rares that were completely worthless and/or unplayable crap (sub 0,50 at release day). Right now for MM2015 we're at 35/53 known Rares but dangerously close to breaking the record amount of crap rares. I know the mythics quality got better this time (no trash dragons) but I'd rather have crap taking my mythic slots than rares so that I open them less often.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that this is a good choice but it's not completely invalid. I'm sure there are people wanting an Ant queen for an EDH deck and if they happen to see one while rare-drafting a local MM event will be happy to take it.

Yet those same people complain when FTV doesn't sell for MSRP. Yet think Wizards could jam every expensive card possible into MM2 and they would be able to get the packs at MSRP

Because they don't understand economics? Or maybe cus they don't know what they actually want like most people.
Great spoiler, will look forward to drafting it. Also, screw anyone who wants this set for 'value' it's a Summer draft set designed to also put some staples onto the market.
Yes, screw anyone who happens to desire cards in this set for the other reason it was designed; making certain cards more accessible. Shame on them. How dare they complain about paying $10 a pack with a possibly low EV. What scumbags for doing so. You're right, every player who isn't willing to draft with these cards shouldn't be allowed to purchase a single booster. That's fair, correct, and exactly what both Wizards and the playerbase need.

Oh boy. Scion of Oona? That was -just- printed in the last one. Your argument boils down to "my deck is missing THESE garbage rares, not THOSE ones!" Players who gripe about an amazing set like Modern Masters in the way that you currently are have a simple solution they just can't seem to see. PUT THE PACK DOWN. Get on Ebay. But all the junk you just mentioned for $10. Ta da! Congratulations! You are NOT the ashamed owner of a hornet queen! Sure you didn't get a Gogf and pay your rent, but you DID get EXACTLY what you needed instead of a crap lottery ticket.
Lottery tickets are called a tax on the poor for good reason. Be wise with your money instead, it's seriously just that simple.

Opening packs always has a low EV... which it should be. You want the single, buy it, don't just buy/hoard packs. Looks like modern masters price might drop slightly due to these spoilers making it more accessable to those who actually wanna draft it.

Your arguments would have more value if Wizards had not cut *every* corners this time:
1. Higher pack price.
2. Only 24 packs per box.
3. Modern commons upshifted to uncommons.
4. Almost everything of value at mythic.
Believe it or not, people (me!) are willing to crack packs. As long as not everything is set up to milks us dry, that is. There's a difference between getting $1 value for $4 than for $10. (Actually, the cheapest pre-sale of box locally is $320, making it $15 per pack. Every other stores locally sell for $360+tx, which is even more ridiculous.)
Also, like other said, drafting is not fun when you're paying $40-50 for the privilege. I doubt the format is *that* good.

I agree. With the soft Canadian dollar it makes playing limited terribly costly. And if you're paying $40-50 per draft (that's insane btw) you could alsmost play sealed twice with standard packs and decent prize support and maybe even get more value out of your packs than playing in 1 MM2 draft.
This is definitly a major consideration for us Canadians
so people expected every rare in MM2015 to be valuable and the hoarders to not take the product and make the packs cost 2x as much as they did with MM1? Okay...

Yeah! Like. How could that happen again, when Wizards have done absolutely nothing about the problem?
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
