I wonder what the ratio is of packs opened in Draft/Sealed vs. opened just to get the cards inside. I feel like without the Limited aspect, there would be far fewer packs bought and opened, and thus far fewer copies of each card actually put into circulation.
The thing is, modern masters never had to be a set designed for limited. It could have simply been a set with reprints only designed to make the format more accessible by reprinting expensive and hard to get cards.
It being for limited is a self imposed restriction, not a decree from God. But that's how they wanted it, probably because it allows them to fill the set with junk and keep it coming for years by partially reprinting needed cards along with bulk.
Before any BUTSECONDARYMARKETCRASHFUUUUU people barge in, they should keep in mind that Wizards has total control over supply and is probably aware of the dangers of overprinting at this point.
You are saying that one of the best limited formats of all time shouldn't have been made just for the sake of "We want all of the staples to crash in price now!"? That is absolutely ridiculous. Let the limited players have their fun. Just be happy that Wizards is reprinting this cards for Modern. If you want to complain, complain about the high prices of the packs. Or cards like Tarmogoyf being mythic. Or the large number of bulk rares. But don't complain about some uncommons being reprinted for limited in a set that was designed to be a draftable set.
What is the point of randomized packs other than limited? If Wizards just wants to sell reprints they could sell them directly. It seems to me that the primary point of packs is to create an interesting play environment for limited (the most played format?). Just imagine if they refused to reprint the cards (reserved list, anyone?). Pretty happy with my 2 pre-ordered boxes at this point.

Probably see all the reprints coming through "From the Vault". Would be a much slower process and have a much smaller impact. People complaining about this being a draft set just need to get over themselves.
Because many are not going to be playing much limited at 30+ eur per pop. I will be playing one at most.
If the set is fun to draft, lots of people will pay $30+ to draft it. And the more people want to draft it, the more packs are opened, and the more singles hit the market. The more singles that hit the market, the more supply is increased, and the prices of all cards drop. They could easily make a set that is worthless other than for cracking packs, but it would have to include an insane number of $25+ dollar cards, at which point no one would buy the packs, less product would be opened, and yada yada yada.

Then go and buy the From the Vaults if it upsets you so much. There is a reason that 13,000 are going to GPs to open Modern Masters packs and that is because of limited. If it wasn't going to be a fun limited format and just packs to increase supply, people wouldn't buy much and it would sit on shelves at much more than $10 a pack.
Well god forbid we limited players get to have some fun...
Every single set is designed first and foremost with you in mind.
Limited Players, ruining it for constructed players since 1993....
I've toned down my rhetoric about Limited lately. Let's face it, Limited moves packs and supports the game more than any other format. But to imply that Limited players don't get to have any fun, when every single set is designed for their benefit above all else (rightfully or not), just rubbed me the wrong way.
You're implying that every single set in terms of limited is fun despite the fact that there are many that are not. Theros block can go **** itself in terms of limited. Core sets I don't actually give a ***** about for limited anymore because of how *****ty they are. Avacyn restored pushed out one of the best limited sets of all time in innistrad. Triple gatecrash was the worst. As for some cards being designed for limited purposes in general you can't have a standard set where every single card in it is constructed playable as it is mathematically impossible as some cards will always be better than other cards.
Complaining about mulldrifter being printed for limited in modern masters is the worst thing I've seen today. Mulldrifter is a great card and one a lot of people thoroughly enjoy playing. It's not like every blue uncommon in the set has to be worth something hell I'm not sure if there are enough blue uncommons in the available card pool that are worth $2 or more to make it so that any blue uncommon you open is worth something. Even if they did do that hypothetically all of them would inevitably drop a bunch to be either under a dollar/not really worth much outside playability/who cares? The best way to sell modern masters is to have a great limited environment for it for one simple reason and that's mtgo. Tons of people will draft this set just because there are some people who won't draft a lot because it's $30+ for entry doesn't mean much at all when people the first time around were paying that over and over to experience a great limited format as well as have a shot at opening some goyf or something. 30 in comparison to a normal set like DTK really isn't all that much when it's just double the entry fee too just saying drafts around here are $15. I know I'd gladly pay double to draft this set assuming the limited environment is great.

I didn't mean to imply that R&D succeeded in making a fun draft environment with every set, only that it's their primary goal. As to your second point, I never complained about Mulldrifter at common, or this being a draft-oriented set. My only gripe was with the implication that Limited players haven't been getting their fare share of attention.

The difference between Genius and Stupidity is that Genius has it limits.
Don't hate on the happy fish. Also, I am glad that this isn't a common anymore.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Why does everything that is in this set have to be a rarely reprinted Modern staple? Some things are in here for limited and that is a good thing.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Same here. But they still have to balance for it. There aren't enough blue uncommons that see play in Modern to cover every slot in MM2 anyways.

Now I want an alter of this.

No one wants that. No one even wants it in draft. I would add more basic lands or risk playing with 39 cards before I'd use that.
