**** that art. Sure it makes sense flavorwise. The art could be way, way better than it is and still depict a very accurate portrayal of the dark confidant 'title'.
Elesh norn isn't a reanimator only card. Elesh norn in limited is a bomb rare since it shrinks the opposing team and basically overruns your team. Way more castable than Iona too at 7 versus 9 mana especially since Iona is triple white not that that's hard once you get to 9 mana you should probably be fixed for the rest of the game but still 9 mana is infinite.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."

I'm not denying Elesh Norn is a bomb in limited, but the mythics in this set feel more aimed toward constructed.
But I still keep my hopes up for the greatest cenobite! One thing I think she has going for her is that there isn't a lot of Scars of Mirrodin mythics (only Karn and Opal,) and being one of the two new blocks added, you'd think they would have more. The only other mythic from that block that would make sense is Batterskull, but there are 5 colourless mythics already, so who knows?
there is no reason it couldn't have been rare maybe Obliterator could still be rare? because that card needs a reprint much more than the stupid Archangel

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Great.
I already have my playset obviously but it's good to see that more people may be able to say the same.
The card is as Black as it can get and just has one of best flavor texts ever. Funnily enough that flavor text also is kinda meta if you think about his price or the price of the decks he sees play in.

Why? it really see's no play across any format. It is a casual favorite yes, and people "try" to force it to be good, But DC does see play and should be a mythic. Obliterator is not a good card for this format. They do not want you to be drafting mono black, you can but its not going to be a common thing. And Bitterblossom fits the theme of what they want black doing more than he does as well.
Really wish people would get over that terrible janky card.
Yeah I detest this artwork. Absolutely loathe it. I'll see if I can trade any for the old art if I get them.
That said, it's good to have it back.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.

It is actually good in the right deck, not Tier 1, but fun to play. And you are right, it is mostly just a casual card, which would be fine at rare. Endrik Sahr deserves a reprint more why exactly?

They said it in the article where endrik was spoiled - they were actively searching for a rare to support the specific black/green archetype and found that endrik was synergistic and fun for limited play (in that archetype).
EDIT: as far as I understood all the different articles on the mothership they made a list of stuff they wanted to reprint for modern and put those cards in. I guess that all the left over rare/mythic slots have than be filled with cards especially choosen for limited.
Come on Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite one time.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.

The old one is cool and sweet because it's Bob but this, this captures the flavour of the card far more convincingly

Or Baneslayer Angel or Gideon Jura.
I still don't think that this should be a mythic.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
