I rejoiced when I saw this reprinted because on modo it's ridiculously expensive at one point it was more expensive than some of the original moxen/what? Also in paper there's only ONE foil version of this card available and that's 10th ed. foil at over $100 per/ridiculous. Don't get why people are complaining, this is a lot better than most of the stuff they could of put in in its place.
There haven't been a lot of black-bordered printings of Hurkyl's Recall either, just the original Antiquities version and the 10th Edition one, both of which are over $10. You can get them for less but they're white-bordered Revised-5th versions of dubious condition at this point.
Yeah the black border is also nice because there aren't many BB hurkyl's in english. There are FBB's at least but some people just don't like foreign although I love foreign.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
How does it not hold water? It is easy to come by. You can easily have it for 4 or 5 bucks. If you must have a black bordered card, then I can understand why you are happy about this. If you must have a foil card I can understand why you are happy. But cost and availability is not an issue with this card if you are willing to play any edition of it. So if white border doesn't ruin your Christmas, then this card is easily available for cheap.

Metalcraft was going to be an obvious limited mechanic.
You can't have a Mox Opal reprint without a Hurkyl's Recall as they are likely wanting to give all decks some sort of answer to the draft archetypes.
Cost/Availability for MTGO is as big of a concern as it is for paper, and you cannot find a Hurkyl's Recall for 4-5 dollars.
Complaining about this reprint is useless. Not every card in this set is going to be a 100% Modern Staple, or a required reprint. At least this is a half decent answer for a lot of decks and the extra circulation should lower the price of a card like this through new availability.
Why are we even debating/complaining about this reprint when they reprinted cards like: Indomitable Archangel, Apocalypse Hydra, All sun's dawn etc.
Also I mean really, Goblin Fireslinger? Who even needs this card. Now that I'm releasing my online rage, I feel this MM2 set is the worst.

This can't be overstated. Hurkyl's Recall falls into the awkward position of not having been released online outside of a core set (and not one of the fun to draft core sets either). This suggests that the MM2015 team was thinking about online when they made some of their choices, especially now that Vintage is available. But there's no reason to feel snubbed if you don't play online either, it's not like this is a junk rare or anything. Not everything in this set can be $30+, and you would not be pleased at the markup on the boosters if it was.
I sold my MTGO one for USD 55 a while back, and while I don't regret it, it has sucked using Rebuild as a budget alternative in Vintage.
Paper players - you might complain about this, but us MTGO players would feel the same way were it possible for Snapcaster Mage (was $8 online 3 months ago though it is more now) to be announced, or really any first set regular rare cards that aren't format pillars.
Now let's watch it crash. My money is on it falling to <50c.

I am not saying there are not worse reprints, and for limited I can see it's uuse. But to say it needs a reprint in paper magic is an overstatement. That is all I am stating at this time. One card I don't care to see printed in the set hardly makes it a bad set. You will not hear me claiming this is the worst set since X. I know we always get those people.

I had no idea this card crept up to $10 - glad it's getting a reprinted... though I feel awful for whoever gets this pulled on them in limited.
The Xth Edition went up to $10, but you have been able to get older versions for as little at $3. There was never a reason a player had to spend $10 on this card.

If you play with white border cards you have a much higher likelihood of losing because you are playing with strictly inferior cards. In fact, white border cards are basically not even Magic cards.

While that is a sentiment I hold true (to the point of painting all the borders of my revised cards) I know enough people out there can settle for WB.

Probably true, but regardless of the paper price, this was absolutely a MTGO reprint that will be nice for paper players, if unnecessary.
