Holy *****!
And we were *just* complaining about how all the FNM promos are for Standard-
great timing, WotC!
I don't like the art as much, but it's nice to finally have a third art choice for this very staple spell.
Fourth choice! Normal Conflux, first promo, and Venser vs. Koth arts are already out there. Personally, I prefer my old FNM promo art. There aren't many Modern-legal tournament quality cards with Rebecca Guay art, and this is one of them.
(The others being Bitterblossom, Spellstutter Sprite, and Aven Mindcensor).
yeah looks similar to the pre-spark art of jace we have seen. would be weird to see him on a white card tho
It wouldn't though. The flavor of his backstory and going into exile fits. I understand the "Jace on a white card" juxtaposition, but I feel it works, if it is him.

Ah, right- I keep forgetting about the VvK version.
I'm kind of surprised they didn't use that art,
kinda like how they used duel decks art for Lightning Helix and Stinkweed Imp last time.

The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

They might use the DD art for the reprint in MM15 (if Path to Exile does get reprinted)
I hate to be a complainer about this, but I'm a little bummed. This card already has tons of reprints and different arts, and many players already have their sets. Granted, it's an incredibly important staple, but Thought Scour or Inquisition might have been a better move, since they don't have the level of reprints that this has.
I think I like this art more than the DCI promo art, but I still like the Leonin and Geopede arts better.

Thought Scour and IoK also have a much higher chance of being reprinted in a standard set. The odds of a path reprint in standard are slim to none. I'm glad they chose to do this for MM15, and I'm glad they went with a staple that would have a hard time being reprinted in standard, as this is a decent way to both get more cards out there as well as get new art for them. I hope that whenever they do these modern FNM promos (if they ever do it again) they stick with staples that are unlikely to be able to fit into a standard set for whatever reason.

This is the first FNM promo PtE. The one you're thinking of was much easier to get back then as it was a WPN/Gateway promo.
That's some nice looking art.
I still prefer the WPN one though and that's the one I have and play with.
I always whisper "Goodnight, sweet prince" every time I use it.
The art looks fantastic, but absolutely does not fit the card.
Can we just address that for a second? A few art has recently have me questions Wizards art direction. Take Negate for example, recently printed in DTK. Just take a look at it.
This one is no different. It does not relate to the card. The original path to exile art was completely appropriate: a creature being eviscerated, dissipated. But this art features a guy taking a stroll into Zendikar. "Exile" is not something one does to themself willingly.
This art does give Path to Exile a different flavor. It's similar to Pacifism and Swords to Plowshares where the spell essentially just makes the target creature leave/not want to fight. I like it, it's more fitting flavor for a white spell than disintegration which is more of a black/red thing.
I think this is the most appropriate art for Path to Exile by far. The original art has nothing to do with exile, it's just forcefully obliterating the creature, which fits mechanically I suppose. The first alt art is abstract but I think it is supposed to show a journey to dying alone or something.
This one though? Shows somebody being sent away to a barren land. This is one of the most literal arts I've seen, and I love it actually.

I agree with some other posters that this art is great - I think the flavour is that you provide the land where the creature goes into exile, just like the flavour of Swords to plowshares is that the creature stops fighting and leaves their weapon to grap a plowshare and work on the field (so exile (flavourwise) doesn't have to mean beeing dissipated IMHO)
Please don't resurrect old threads like this, thank you.

I believe that this is a pre-spark Jace, not Narset. In fact, the clothing on display here closely matches the promo image for Jace from Origins.
