Wow the R/G intropack isn't bad at all. For 9.99 you not only get two booster packs, you also get a Harbringer, two Savage Ventmaws, a dragon lord's servant and a draconic roar, all four cards very much playable in T1 (now or in the near future).
Nvm, the other post got archived... I expected megamorph rares on top of the dragons... Guess it's too much to ask eh. Secure the Wastes is a very good rare, possibly the best from DtK.

$9.99? Are they really that cheap? I thought they were $15-20.

They're actually not bad for intro packs. They all pack solid second rares and some good uncommons. Of course the main draw is collecting the foil dragons.
I like the R/G a lot. The Ventmaws are great, brings a roast, and a dragonic roar, and Berserker's Onslaught which I think I can fit in an EDH deck somewhere.
Also, Orator of Ojutai had slipped my attention. I like it a lot. 2 mana 0/4 flyer with card drawing upside? Delicious.
Kinda hilarious how the Massed Ranks deck includes two Enduring Scalelords; I wonder how a new player will react upon figuring out that the two dragons combo together to become arbitrarily huge.
Secure the wastes is in one of the intro packs. Should I cancel my preorder of the card? I ordered a playset for $12
If you have no use for the other cards in the intropack, then you're better off buying a playset for $12.
Secure the wastes will definitely be a staple especially for Naya decks. $3/piece sounds reasonable for a rare staple.
Recent history also showed us that just because a card's in an intro pack doesn't mean that prices are going to go down. I believe there were 2x Magma Jets in one of the earlier intro packs yet the price remained at $1+ when it first came out.
All the cards in these decks are from Dragons of Tarkir. No more core set fill ins.
Since FRF, DTK, and M15 all rotate out of standard before DTK does, they can't include cards from those sets.
I guess they learned their lesson last year. Even Journey into Nyx didn't have M14 cards in them. Neither did Born of the Gods.
Dragon's Maze intro packs did have some M13 cards in them though, and M13 rotated out 2 months after DGM was released.
When theme decks became intro packs back when Shards of Alara came out, they started including core set cards in them, and that totally killed the theme and vibe of the precon. Now that Core sets are gone, and in 3 sets (BNG, JOU, and DTK), where all 5 intro packs do not have a single core set card, it just shows that core set cards aren't really necessary in intro packs. I do have to say they went backwards with Fate reforged though. Core set card as the second rare, especially one of them having the same rare that has been the second rare in one of the M15 intro packs. I am talking about Hornet Queen being in both Will of the Masses from M15 and Grave Advantage in FRF.
These intro packs are an example of how an intro pack is done in a core setless world.
Ojutai and silugmar both look great... I don't buy these things anymore but I like to see if they can make these good beginner decks.. Also the Pristine skywise art is increadable. I am glad that they are actually better than a draft deck.. there have been some bad ones recently.
Are the (non-foil) rares, exclusive to these intro packs? Or can they be pulled from boosters as well?
I've NO idea how I missed the card Secure the wastes while checking through the complete spoiler last week. That card is pretty dang neat...and I didn't even know it was coming till I was watching an unboxing of the G/W intro pack being unboxed on youtube today.
Has wizards made it known whether they're going to release another clash pack for dragons? While I was really unimpressed with the quality of the packs' foiling process, I have really liked the alternate arts and access to a bunch of rares that those decks contain.

The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

Dragons is an "Event Deck" set rather than a "Clash Pack" set. I believe they are now alternating between the two.
Having gotten to play Kolaghan at the prerelease, I'm more impressed by that particular intro deck, now that I've gotten to look at it in person. Has multiples of all of the build-around uncommons that were mostly absent from my DTK packs, plus a nearly full playset of one of the best commons in my prerelease deck (Impact Tremors) and a decent amount of removal. So at least it beats a middling (2-2) Sealed deck, which is a good sign. Only thing missing is the other all-star of my deck, the first card I've ever nicknamed: the incredibly annoying and evasive Reckless Imp. (I call her Aisha.)
As for the Ojutai intro deck...well, someone ran me over in the last round with a lot of similar cards, but I still haven't gotten to see it in practice as much, so I'm having trouble getting past the Rebound spells being mostly upwards of 4 mana and all of the good "when you cast a noncreature spell" cards having the same issue. Then again, I actually have a rather solid casual Jeskai deck, so my standards are a lot higher for the "spells" archetype.
Also, tiny sample sizes aside, the packs that came with the intro decks happened to have a ton of value: my friend got Dromoka and a foil [card]Ojutai Exemplars[/cards] from one of her two packs, and the two intro decks I got yielded Kolaghan's Command, Dromoka's Command, Sarkhan, and Narset. More than made up for the lack of playable rares in my prerelease pack.
