Well, back to the Abzan Counters deck it seems. With a card like Avatar of the Resolute, it could actually be very terrifying. Also, Dorenchantment...think it could make Crater Elemental see play?
Both of the green rares are obviously sweet. With all of the high toughness, non-defender creatures we've been getting lately, you don't even have to spend the green mana to get rid of their defender. Nyx-Fleece Ram is a 5/5 for 1W that gains you life on your upkeep. Then there are the two creatures mentioned in the article... The card has a lot of power. Unfortunately, the card doesn't do much in multiples and if you build a deck around it you'll want 4.
As for the tokens, that warrior is my favorite so far this block. And that zombie is probably my favorite zombie token yet.
Oooommmmggggg that Avatar is one of the biggest bears I've ever seen printed. Hurrdurr downside of 2 colored mana... That's SUCH a pushed 2-drop! It's good even without much down -.-
The enchantment is fun. I always liked Doran. Dromoka doesn't mind hitting for 7...
Heh. Meandering Towershell. Slightly more seriously, Silumgar, the Drifting Death. Kind of want to throw together an Assault Formation/Phenax deck with two different win-cons (attack with your Walls, mill with your Walls) depending on which one you draw/play/can keep on the field. More options is always nice.
There are plenty of high-toughness creatures in Standard already - once you drop the enchantment, a deck can flip from durdly to deadly very quickly. (Especially with, say, Nylea giving all of your walls trample.)
And the other guy is, at worst, a 3/2 reach/trample for 2. At worst, and with significant upside, especially with trample.
So is this the end of goblins? Are goblins going to be "apes" from now on and this block is the last one to use the goblin creature type?
You have classic green-skinned goblins, rodent goblins on Alara, phyrexianized goblins, so now there are ape goblins. No big deal. Each world has its own variety.

I love Assault Formation, but man does that card feel waaay more white than green.
Especially considering Dromoka is based in white, and this is clearly a Dromoka not an Atarka card (ESPECIALLY considering Atarka wants high power, not (necessarily) high toughness).
Also odd that the other spoiled card is a 3/2 and not a 2/3, given that the enchantment weakens it somewhat.
That said, both these cards are awesome. The avatar is really fantastic - a 3/2 trample reach is playable for GG, and if you cast him later in the game he is likely to be a a 4/3 or 5/4 (in the right deck) and that can't be ignored.
Avatar of Resolute is pretty efficient, I mean, a 3/2 trample reach for GG isn't half bad and this has got upsides that makes it good at late game as well in the right deck. Awesome magic card.
It can quite easily be a 5/4 Trampler with reach for GG and this is SERIOUS.
The enchantment is gimmicky, but certainly powerful.
I have a deck that runs Axebane Guardians and Overgrown Battlements to generate mana which will love this card.
Am I the only one who has this impression or are those two green cards potentially insane? especially the enchantment.
Yes you are the only one out of 8 billion people on the world.
...god I wish we could get away from this "am I the only one" phrase...
The creature seems real nice and should work well with the other green 2 drop in the set. The enchantment seems lackluster. Doran gives you a 5/5 body for just one mana more.
Doran is also easier to remove, doesn't pump your guys, is in three colors, and doesn't allow you to benefit from defenders (which are the best toughness creatures usually)
Neither do much in multiples (since Doran is legendary), but at least you can play multiple of the enchantments to prevent you from being blown out from a naturalize effect (like Sultai Charm in standard). Doran does give you a sweet body though and can be your commander. Both are good, one isn't necessarily better than the other, I think.
So I'm thinking Phalanx Leader + a bunch of soldier tokens + just one activation of Leader's heroic ability + Avatar of the Resolute = bat***** crazy 2-drop.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
Can you imagine if we still had tower defense?!
