Ugh. Unplayable outside limited. I understand how powerful that flip over effect could be, but couldn't they drop the cost to just cast it like normal? I mean, 5W is an insanely high price to pay for a 3/3 flying lifelink, especially when we just had Dawnbringer Charioteers and Seraph of Dawn.
The art is great, it's a limited card obviously. We are approaching the end of the best spoilers, hopefully there will be some cool reprints and maybe a couple sleepers.
OMG This art is some of the best I have ever seen! I love how it looks like there are rain drops on the "camera lens".
Too bad this thing costs a million mana. There's no way these are supposed to be playable in limited right?

If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
Easily the best of this cycle, and the only one I expect to be a high limited pick. Big evasive lifelinkers are no joke.
It will be interesting to see how this format plays out, but this guy is super expensive, and a 4/4 flier isn't even going to dominate the board like it would in a normal limited format. It requires a 10 mana investment to get this thing to be a 4/4 flying lifelinker.

Actually this is a very solid limited card since evasive lifelink can swing games in your favor. Probably one of the better uncommon draft picks outside of removal. If the previous Khans drafts are any indication, this environment will be fairly slow.
They should not have previewed any of this cycle. Should have just let it come out when the full spoiler went up. These are NOT getting anyone excited for the set or for dragons in general.
It was explained today in Making Magic that these guys are toned down a bit so that in draft, people pass them along and the players drafing a tribal deck can get their hands on them more easily.
It makes sense, seeing how there are no dragons at common, and a deck's theme relying solely on uncommons is going to need quite some help.
Wha? Toning down dragons... in their dragon set. Instead of doing that, how about having some common dragon eggs or hatchlings to help that theme out? That's like saying we made the m14 slivers suck on purpose to help the sliver player in a draft. This set is starting to give me continous facepalming moments.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
I'm really disappointed with this cycle of dragons. I mean, ridiculous casting cost/megamorph cost, terrible stats, and lack of any particularly interesting abilities aside, the effect that happens on flip is just so insanely boring, and really doesn't feel like it fits any of the colors other than green and maybe white. Couldn't they have at least come up with unique flip effects for each of them (even if they were still "all dragons you control")? Would that really be too much to ask? :\

As others have noted, for story reasons, Dragons are "born" as adults from tempests in the skies, so there is no concept of a hatchling or egg on this plane. Thus, we are not seeing such cards in this set.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this. Is it known if dragons of tarkir is a bottom up set? If so, they could've included them, if they wanted to.

At least lifelink is better than first strike and deathtouch, so there's that...

I think that you will hardly find such sealed where KTK and DTK are together, at least in non-casual events...
Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
