Lead Designer Drew Nolosco talked about Magic Duels: Origins, saying among other things: "Players will experience the origin stories of our five most iconic Planeswalkers through immersive gameplay."
How is Garruk not one of the five "most iconic" planeswalkers?
Cause he's currently not a protagonist while he's all crazy, GreenBlack, and hunting other walkers for sport?
Gideon is not from Theros. He served the Order of Heliud, not Heliod.
...You do know that Gideon being from Theros is already confirmed by multiple sources, right? And a single letter difference doesn't actually disprove a connection. It, point of fact, makes the connection seem all the more plausible.
"There are no coincidences."
Are there any sources confirming he is from Theros? I've seen a few people insist that is where he is from, but not one of them could actually cite any sources for it. Theros doesn't really seem to fit with the history created by Laura Resnick (street gangs, hieromancy etc don't seem very Theros, and I believe the stuff from The Purifying Fire is still all considered canon?). And the Order of Heliud are Regathan, are they not? So not related to Theros either. Or am I mistaken? I haven't actually read The Purifying Fire, so I could be super wrong.
I haven't seen anything officially stating "Gideon is from Theros". But at this point it seems pretty confirmed by the pictures from the panel -- one shows young (pre-planeswalker) Gideon in what appears to be Theran dress; another shows a Theran landscape in association with him in Duels Origins. I mean, I suppose technically it's possible he's from Arkhos or somewhere else that looks Greek! But it seems pretty clear at this point that he's from Theros.

Love the idea of double faced walkers. Awesome way to put Planeswalker commanders in a non-supplemental product, and the flavour and mechanical elegance behind exiting and bringing them back in transformed is a huge win.
See Desperate Stand -- the flavor text mentions him under his original name, Kytheon Iora. There was also an image from Duels in the PAX panel which outright says that Gideon was originally Kytheon.
I just love the rules questions that such cards inspire...
If you use her as your commander and her ability triggers, and you decide to put her in the command zone instead of the exile zone, does she return and do you get a zombie token?
If you Clone her and another creature of yours dies, do you get a zombie token?
In commander case, you will -- the ability doesn't specify that she must come back from exile so she will come back from wherever she went.
In Clone case, Clone will come back, although not transformed (that part is ignored because it's not a double-faced card). You will get the token because it came back. A token copy, however, wouldn't come back and give you a token.

Because this happened to Garruk and he is currently corrupted and crazy because of it
Anyone knows how the Spark ignited in Gideon ? Or even better how the other 4 obtained it as well ?
One of the loading screens from the magic origins game says "Grief-stricken over the death of your comrades, your Planeswalker spark ignites, sending you to Bant. You discover a realm of chivalry, and you are inspired to walk the path to knighthood. You take the name Gideon Jura, and you seek redemption."

Thanks bra
so how can we transfer that information into Gideons Card ?
so his Spark ignited over the death of his comrades - When one or more cretures you controll die.
he seeks now redemption - Exile a craature card from your graveyard.
Oh my god thats really not easy drawing conclusions.
lemme try
Gideon, young tough 1W 3/1
Legendary Creataure - Human Soulja
Firststrike
Whenever another creature you controll dies, exile Gideon, young tough & return him
to the battlefield transformed under its owners controll. If you do, put 3 Loyality counters on Gideon, Champion of the Meek
Gideon, Champion of the Meek 2 Loyality
+1 Until end of turn Gideon, Champion of the Meek becomes a white Human Soulja with
Protection from the color of your choice & has Power & Toughness equal to his loyality counters.
Planeswalkers dont lose loyality counters while they are Creatures.
-2 put a +1/+1 counter on target creaturre you control. That creature gains Indestructible & Vigilance.
-7 You get an Emblem with: Creature you control have Protection from all colors & have lifelink.
Somehow i noticed that quite some Planeswalkers got their Spark ignited by the death of their loved ones.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Ugin can now -0 to exile walkers. The only part of DFC that I disliked was that they didn't have a cmc; Ratchet Bomb made some sad faces during Innistrad. It's a thing. Maybe useful, maybe not.
I am also disappointed that Nissa gets the slot over Garruk. It's a mix of I really dislike Nissa and really like Garruk, but it's also about their origins and not their current story state. I'm going to pump as many removal into Nissa as possible every time I see her. #bitterAF

Well, I doubt multiple planeswalkers in the set would have exactly the same trigger. For Gideon, since it specifies death of his comrades, plural, I'd say that he should trigger if certain amount of creatures you control (three?) die during the same turn.
And his creature form would be probably called Kytheon Iora, his original name

Doesn't get more iconic than that, in my books...
"For now, these five have some especially epic stories in front of them, and it was important to see the life events and the ten worlds that made them who they are." (Source)
Garruk is probably important, but his big moment to make him important happened like last summer (okay it happened in Innistrad nearly four years ago, but Apex Predator came out last summer)? So it isn't like we've had time to forget how he became a big deal. Also Nissa will be important next fall for sure, because Zendikar.
I wasn´t around during Innistrad and draft with DFCs, but how did that work? Did anyone just know your picks because anyone could see you picking a DFC card? I Imagine Origins is going to be even more annoying to draft with DFC Plainswalkers
Won't argue against the flavor feel of these planeswalkers, it is as cool and top down as it gets.
By making them creatures, the point of being planeswalkers has been completely lost as now most typical removal spells will take care of these walkers and ironaically players will have to resort to actual planeswalkers from other sets if they want more resilient threats.
Also, they will present consistency issues: you need to draw and play cards that trigger the transformation and then you need to have cards that exploit their abilities: draw the cards in the wrong order and you will got an almost vanilla creature.
Although I'm not fond of double faced cards, I rather have that kind of mechanics instead of ones that are overly simplistic and feel like a waste of a keyword like exalted or bloodthirst.
Overall, seems to me like a effort to please Vorthos at the cost of annoying the people that actually plays the game. At best, players will comment how cool the cards look and feel while at the same time reserving them to the unplayable binders next to Tibalt.
The images in the OP are broken links for me...
... I caught Lili's initial side, but not the PW side. Can someone either repost the pics or hack it out in text, pls?

Death triggers are very easy for black. I'm sure they'll make it comfortable for the respective colors to trigger the transformation.
I think I'd like the transform walkers a lot more if they didn't mean we're not getting a LotV reprint, after having her tragically torn from our hands with M15.
I personally love DFCs. DFC walkers are just a good thing, for so many reasons. I do think there will be other non planeswalker DFCs in origins, not related to the planeswalkers, but to the player. I'm actually worried that Lilliana is too easy to flip... but I'm thinking the others aren't as easy to flip, and that's why she was chosen as the Origins preview card.
I trigger Liliana and flip her to Planeswalker. Now I can play another Liliana-Legendary Creature? That seems like a design failure. Expecting rules clarification.
