I'm very curious which PWs will get new cards in this-
Sarkhan, Ugin, Sorin, Nissa, and Kiora have all gotten new cards rather recently,
and Gideon will be in Origins. I'm sure they'll "double up" on *somebody*, but who?
Gideon? Kiora?
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
Melek, Izzet Paragon
Oona, Queen of the Fae
Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Rhys the Redeemed
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
Sen Triplets

Just a reminder: the Sarkhan story loophole only works on Tarkir. So everything that happened on Tarkir was reversed, not outside.
So Sarkhan going back in time did not change the Eldrazi storyline in any way. Now, from here on we DO have the new Sarkhan if he's going to take Ugin to the Eldrazi.
But really, all those other storylines, from Eldrazi to Alara to New Phyrexia all happened exactly as you think they happened. The changes only happened within Tarkir.
That said, yes it might be a bit confusing, but they can't retcon the past ten years of Magic storytelling. Also the idea of another Narset 1000 years after everything changed is not realistic, but within the rules set by Creative.

There's already a BFZ-associated picture of Gideon several people have posted, so Gideon, at least.
I would like to see some Other-Planeswalker-Summonings thing where we get cards with Kiora summoning squids, Gideon summoning the Boros, Sarkhan/Ugin (Assuming they triple/double up) summoning dragons, etc.
Also, because Sarkhan and Ugin will already have cards in this block, they can have their presence in the story on Zendikar but not the block itself.
Who here felt the Eye of Ugin was a fail? I quite loved that land cause I run it in my eldrazi land ramp deck in casual but I assume it was terrible in constructed?
EDIT: Just wondering because MaRo considers that a bad land.
dude, it's played in RG tron as a 1x to tutor emrakrul in modern
Sweet mother of Spoiler Season. Moar Dragons, Karn with Goyf followed by Liliana and another expansion... the Tiltle (Battle for Zendikar) gave me goose-bumps by itself Hope to see full art lands, fetches and Eldrazi coming back
I.... would guess Sorin and Nissa. I can't imagine we'd be seeing Sarkhan for quite some time. same with Ugin. Giddeon's a possibility.
Ugin is basically mandatory. Maybe he doesn't get another PW card, but he is needed in Zendikar. The Eldrazi can't be trapped without his ghostfire magic.
Didn't Sorin say that he can't feel Nahiri anywhere?
I can't find it but I can assume he can't sense her must mean she is either sealed or dead/undead. Kor live longer than humans but not that long. I hope she's alive, I like the idea of having a walker who is female and a smith.
I don't remember where I read it, but somewhere I read that Ugin was very interested in Nahiri's lithomancy, and she taught Ugin as much of it as she could. If she is gone, then maybe Ugin learned enough of it to do her job.
Lets not forget that they'll introduce new walkers. Nissa, Gideon, Chandra, and Jace are in Origins while Sarkhan and Ugin are in KTK block. I doubt they would put all of them to print again so quickly. We know Gideon is out looking for help and Kiora is gathering large minions. Nahiri could be possible but don't forget that Ob Nixilis is still lurking about on Zendikar trying to do dastardly things to get his spark back.
Congratulations of your excellent use of dastardly, I love it. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a current version of Nihiri and maybe Ob Nixilis and Kiora, not sure about those of them that are in Origins or KTK block. Its unfortunate that Kiora didn't get printed in ZEN she works so well with landfall. I hope landfall is back. Maybe a new walker or two.
I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.
Does the back of that Eldrazi titan remind anybody else of Bolas's horns? I know that is probably stupid, but what is speculating for?
Maybe Bolas is in reality an Eldrazi just like in the first Man in black movie ?
Bolas is the BIGGEST VILLAIN EVER! Thus he made the Eldrazi!
And he will be stopped by Jace. Nissa will make some elves, Sorin will make some snarky comments and Gideon will...show off his pecs? Liliana will do the same, but female version.
so good... Until they give the Eldrazi Vanishing instead of annihilator lol. You know, cuz they're from another dimension. They spent themselves in Rise, now they're like "later, losers!"
I have neither the skill to correctly and accurately analyze this set in the context of current and future formats after 12 hours of exposure, nor the hubris to delude myself into believing that I do.
This will be the first real set of the new two-set block paradigm. I'm curious about how many planeswalkers are going to be in the entire block (3 in the large set, 2 in the small?) My guess: Nahiri, Sorin, Kiora, Nissa, and Gideon will be the five. I don't know how they'll be distributed between the two sets, though
At PAX, they said the number of walkers in Standard would remain roughly the same. We currently have 5-6 per block, and 5-6 per core set ( of which ~3 tend to be reprints), so depending on how we interpret that we get 17-22 or so. Dividing by 3 indicates 6-7 walkers per new block.
I think we will see at least 4 of your five, and probably also Jace. That leaves us with no new walkers and no red walkers, so they will presumably occupy the remaining slots.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.

Eldrazi aren't from other dimensions but from Blind Entities. And blind entites mostly means cosmos in our understanding yet in Multiverse it's more like "endless barrier between worlds".
So... will Pearl Lake Ancient still be in Standard for Zendikar? Or will he rotate out? I remember joking about its return land ability being a sign for Zendikar 2: Landfall Boogaloo.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

Khans doesn't rotate out before Battle for Zendikar. There's no block between the two.
They better not hand us another downer (storywise) like New Phyrexia with the second set setting the stage for oblivion and eldrazi rather than phyrexian domination to explain the new set structure of 2 sets per block.
I agree about the full art lands - I'm a big fan of sexy basics and foils.
This announcement more or less confirms fetch land reprints. I was thinking about grabbing a set of tarns but now I have second thoughts. I probably should get them anyways though, October is a long time to wait.

Another post apocalyptic set like Timespiral sounds terrible.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if it became 'Big Set=4 'walkers, Small Set=2 'walkers.'
EDIT: Meant to write 4, not 3.
