Annihilator was an actual good mechanic for Eldrazi, for the fact that they should feel like they deal a giant amount of damage when they strike and not just get jumped by a creature turn after turn.
Obvisiously Emrakul simply has way too much with 6 , and in constructed the mechanic is abused with ways to cheat it in play.
But Eldrazi are all very expensive if they have Annihilator and the "normal" Eldrazi dont have too big numbers, so its fine.
In Limited the mechanic worked fairly well, so you had a reason to actual play the "Eldrazi" Ramp deck to get the fatties out and earn the rewards for doing so.
If they dont go with Annihilator, they seriously need something equally to make Eldrazi a force to fear, and not just some random fattie.
I hope they just reprint the big three monsters. No need to make any alternatives. Just as is and as we know and love them.
That'd involve bringing back Annihilator, and last I heard, they were a little hesitant with that idea. Not saying it can't or won't happen, but it's a strike against it. Emrakul being in Modern Masters 2015 is also another strike. I don't think they'd use a spot in Modern Masters 2015 if they were going to bring it back for Battle of Zendikar. Still, I'd be happy with reprints.
I'm very happy for Battle for Zendikar, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting a return till next year. I wasn't really big on the whole "adventure" theme, but I was very happy with the Kor, and landfall. I'm looking forward to the advancement of the story more than anything else, though.
Everyone please. EMRAKUL AND KOZILEK ARE NO LONGER ON ZENDIKAR! Sorry for the caps, but people keep thinking they are going to be in it. Unless they find someway to lure them back to Zendi, they won't be in this block.
Perhaps Allies will have Sliver-like tribal this time?

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Everyone please. EMRAKUL AND KOZILEK ARE NO LONGER ON ZENDIKAR! Sorry for the caps, but people keep thinking they are going to be in it. Unless they find someway to lure them back to Zendi, they won't be in this block.
I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but this is unsubstantiated. Everything about them being missing has been presented as "They are no longer active and could have possibly left the plane."
While it's true they could have left, it's also possible they're up to other things than just "Consume plane onnomonom"
I'm not 100% sure that Allies will actually make a return. It seems that they were pretty tied to "Adventureworld" which Zendikar stopped being in ROE, when they disappeared.

Started playing since Invasion, stopped at Scourge. Returned briefly during BoK's introduction of ninjas. Finally back into magic during Shadowmoor/Eventide.
Currently Running Bant Control and a homebrew Blightning Echoes for Type 2.
Set 1 will focus on the battle between the walkers and Ulamog. We will probably get: Gideon, Nissa and some other random walker maybe a new one. I'm pretty sure that Nahiri is alive but we won't see her until a later block probably trying to trap Emrakul with sorin and Ugin. I think that they will somehow be able to trap Ulamog in the first set of the block and everything will look like zendikar is going to be saved.
Enter set 2 of the new zendikar block: I think we will end up getting a new villain to reak havoc on zendikar. I think Ob Nix will complete his plans causing untold damage to zendikar and reobtain his spark again being our black planeswalker for the block. During M14 Jace ripped the hedron from his head which unshackled him so this is kind of anticipated. Plus it would be cool to have a demon planeswalker. Maybe we will get another walker in this set as well maybe kiora or someone will randomly show up.
I doubt they'll deal with an Eldrazi in one set and then have a new, more minor threat in the second set. Especially not for the first block in the new system. They need both sets to feel epic. I imagine the first set will be amassing the opposition and the second set will be the battle against Ulamog. Maybe Ob Nixilus will get his spark back in the block, but I doubt he gets focus as the villain in an Eldrazi block.
I hope they defeat Ulamog or whatever in the first set, and the effect of doing so releases mana it has consumed over Millennia into Zendikar, which revives the plane and we get adventure/exploration of the old Zendikar days again in the second set of the new block.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"

As I said, one possibility is that Bolas plans to unleash the Eldrazi on Dominaria to absorb the damaged spacetime fabric, which would allow him to safely undo the Mending

I'm really sorry. I had hopes for a multicolor Ally Commander or two, but like it says in the flavor text of the promo All is Dust: "'The emergence of the Eldrazi isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as you've already lived a fulfilling and complete life without regrets.' -Javad Nasrin, Ondu relic hunter". Life on Zendikar as we knew it is probably over, with only the landscape able to mount any resistance.
ALSO: How do people feel about Gideon being on Zendikar? I'm pretty sure MaRo talked about how he liked introducing Gideon in ROE, I think it was on his podcast.
As shown in the art here, it seems pretty clear that Gideon will be the face of the set. It looks as though he's facing down Ulamog, too.
I though it was established that the eldreazi in that pic is a Pathrazer of Ulamog also seen on Dreamstone Hedron. Behind him are the tentacles of Ulamog maybe, or the tentacles are from a mutated Pathrazer. Just to compare,Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre's hands are quite longer than what we see in the Gideon picture. Also, the helm-like head is different.

I'm not really sure if corrupted Emrakul, flashing through endless worlds and spreading phyrexian oil is what we need now.
Emrakul and the other Eldrazi titans don't have actual physical forms for the oil to corrupt. They're noncorporeal, we're just seeing their mana-based avatars. Corrupting that avatar would logically accomplish nothing since Emrakul has control over it and could just make it disappear.
