I love it. Wish it was a Warrior.
A question though, is there any Instant removal in current Standard that efficiently makes this thing a waste of mana? TONS. Crackling Doom, Bile Blight, Hero's Downfall.
Instead of RDW, I see him finding a home in R/G Monsters or even U/R/G (ferocious) decks that are already ramping and dropping must deal with threats.
Threatening to trade with a rhino, or any other high toughness creature makes him have pseudo evasion. This is great tech against crackling doom for big red. Pump mana into it to save Stormbreath? Worth. Not committing to the board against control? Great. I LOVE this card. So good with nykthos devotion mana too.
Card doesn't really look that good to me. Quite surprised by all the positive response to it.
Why does it not look good to you exactly?
Its very cheap as it only costs R to cast.
It evades all sorcery-speed removal as long as you payed for Dash R.
Its a 1/1
Its firebreathing cost R instead of 1R.

Sure, it's cheap and avoids sorcery removal (more of a plus in limited than standard, though I don't see it being awesome there either). But is it really that impactful on the board? I feel like this card was made for boss sligh-like decks but you need more mana than normally available to those decks to make it worthwhile, and in a deck that wants a better late game there are so many stronger options. It will always have one toughness without a pump spell which makes it obscenely easy to trade with. The fact that it's a 1/1 also isn't actually a boon to it lol.
One word: Purphoros.
Got two of these berserkers in hand and a Purphoros on the Battlefield? Pay RR to deal 4 damage to your opponent during each of your turns. Even if you got only one in the hand, its still you paying R to shock your opponent reliably each turn unless they decide to bust out some of that premium instant speed removal on it like a Bile Blight or a Hero's Downfall.
I'm glad to see they aren't afraid to have new pushed 1 CMC guys for red with Lightning Berserker.
After Monastery Swiftspear it was looking like we may not get another for a while so this is a nice surprise.
What the heck is going on in the art, though? There is some sort of...energy kite strapped to its back or they are running down a hallway with fleshy pink ridges on it...I'm not really too sure.
I think this card is awesome, but I'm also a big fan of Glitterfang.
Probably the most accurate way to think of this card is as a combination of Glitterfang and Pyre Charger. Having played with Pyre Charger in a couple of decks, I'd saying trying to use this guy as just a beatdown creature is probably going to produce lackluster results- you might get in one good swing, but he's either going to get chumped or you're not going to have the mana to use him effectively. If you want a versatile finisher that can use excess mana, you're probably going to be better off going with Crater's Claws.
The exciting part of this card is the fact that it's a strictly better Glitterfang. If Standard players are able to generate enough synergy/value using his dash ability, then he might find a home in a good deck. I think there is a good chance of that happening since Purphoros, God of the Forge, Foundry Street Denizen, Mardu Scout, and Outpost Siege are legal in Standard right now and are good cards by themselves.
Sometimes, the best designs are the simplest. This card is rad because it's design allows you to play it like a spell a lot of the time, and that's sweet. Needless to say, my love for this card is ticking clock.
I like it when my fireball has legs. This card will definitely see standard play, and could see Modern play if control ever becomes a thing again. When your finisher isn't a dead card early on, it will see play.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
I played a lot of Stonewright back in ISD-RTR standard and he did tons of work, both allowing me not to overextend and serving as a great lategame topdeck. This card is an even better topdeck because it doesn't need another creature to work and it "has" haste, but it's somewhat more fragile. I mean, Stonewright allowed you to play a bit around removal because you could always pump the other creature in response, but with this one you are taking more risks if you pump and your opponent has mana available.
Anyway, I think this is a really good card that will undoubtedly see play. If mono red exists, this will be in.
This card is sweet because it's impactful early and late game. If it was a 2/1 for the same price, this card would be broken. Cards like this is why you are pissing up a rope trying to play control this standard. Too many varied threats and control needs very specific cards to deal with these different threats.

I am constantly amazed at their ability to come up with new and interesting names for the cards they churn out.
