Whats with the dichotomy that either wizards are going 100% full greed cash grab and screwing the playerbase at every possible opportunity, or that mythics are somehow not motivated by profiteering? Its plenty reasonable that mythic rarity was added foremost as a means of indirectly boosting sales during a downturn, and that at the same time, wizards aren't malevolent crooks. They throw out bones with rarities being decided sometimes on the basis of gameplay, fairness, thematics and limited rather than simply a secondary market value concern. If mythic rarity is going to exist at all, they aren't going to abstain from it when intentionally updating rarities of an old set, its part and parcel of the decision to add it in the first place. But they can do a good job of reasonably fitting the cards in the set to appropriate rarities including mythic, without it serving a compelling reason for mythic rarity to exist in the first place, just a consequence of mythics ever being added- something that was, yes, done for the $$$. It doesn't exist for the sake of limited, never has had a seriously beneficial impact on limited in the past and doesn't do so here either.
But the discussion is hardly off topic, since the update this set brings is the rarity switcheroo of an old set, so might as well discuss it
I'm definitely excited to watch streams or videos on Tempest Remastered. I liked playing and watching VM a lot, and it's fun to hear old time players talk about old formats and how the cards worked in those formats.
Actually, the argument was that SQ as Mythic makes 0 sense from limited perspective. It turned out that from cash grab perspective it makes about as much. Remind me what was the point of mythic again?
By the way, comparing card frequency of TR draft with TSE draft is completely useless when discussing rarity updates. But hey, you got to diss someone for 'mob mentality', so it was worth it I guess.
I should concur with posters above me and say that there is nothing mythic about mythics in TR in terms of cash or limited impact so this discussion leads nowhere.
The update is boring because Tempest was boring. It will probably still play great because of the power level (and the nostalgic 'novelty'). It's funny that would DtK not be as removal-healthy, TR would be that much more exciting to draft.
Its a big expensive wonky spell that can have a grand impact on the game. This is what they originally were going to do with mythics. The most recent 5 color sliver lord was a mythic to show that is where they wanted to put it.
The entire point of them even doing this format is to get more wastelands into the system. While I liked the old format it was not popular. People are mostly going to draft this for the lottery of getting a wasteland. So showing the numbers helps to calm some people in that even with the rarity bump you are actually getting more of a chance at the card they are doing this draft for.
You got "dissed" because you have an ax to grind. You tried to grind it here with completely invalid points. You did not even bother to do any kind of fact checking you just wanted to get riled up.
I think SQ at mythic is because it's probably very low power in Limited because of its difficult casting cost in a nongold set. Mythic rarity means it won't show up much in Limited and Limited will see more interesting cards in the rare slot. Mythic rarity is not just reserved for cards that would screw Limited up completely. It's also reserved for cards that are irrelevant so they don't negatively impact the draft by filling the rare slot with a completely useless card. Precedent: Eye of Ugin

Interesting, but that is what they had to work with. More interesting, based on the complaints in other threads about the cost of entry, it seems like this should make people happy. They complain about the cost of things like mythics, so now we have cheap ones. I guess people are still trying to win the Wasteland lottery.

We differ on what the term 'money mythic' means. I'm talking high value cards like Ojutai, Nissa etc, cards that pay for an entire draft. I agree there are mythics you'll raregrab in this set such as Time Warp or Grindstone.
some bots buy it at 37/38... and they have tickets.
I say this because sometimes you see absurd prices advertised in MTGO, from "super-cheap" sellers with 0 cards stock or "super-generous" buyers with 0 tickets...
