711.2. Each face of a double-faced card has its own set of characteristics.
711.2a In every zone other than the battlefield, and also on the battlefield with its front face up, a double-faced card has only the characteristics of the front face.
711.2b While a double-faced permanent’s back face is up, it has only the characteristics of its back face. The back face doesn’t have a mana cost; it has the colors in its color indicator (see rule 202.2e), if any.
So yes if I control a Chandra (prewalker) and she transforms, I can play the second Chandra as well and neither cancel each other out UNTIL the second Chandra who was a creature transforms into a walker in which the Legend/Planeswalker rule now applies.
Anyone else a little sad that the last core set is looking like it is going to contain less things like good old Fireball and instead only "classic" stuff from New World Order onwards?
Seems like a bit of a poke in the eye. I realize that the vast majority of Magic players did not start at the beginning but it seems remiss to not even acknowledge the truly classic stuff in the last core set that is released.
sorry, but who needs the 1000. reprint of fireball or shatter, or whatever spell which gets printed in nearly every coreset ever..
i doubt btw, that we will get flipping planeswalkers... just cant imagine it. especialy since wotc hated the flip mechanic in innistrat, because it just sucks to play with it.
[citation needed]
I'm pretty sure MaRo has said several times the biggest barrier to more flip cards is the cost increase.
also in my oppinion it sucks to play with them. either you have to play with idiotic placeholders, or you need to take your card out of its sleeve all the time. then you forget to turn it back before the next game and so on... it just sucked so hard to play with those werewolfs and im damn happy that noone of them is good enough for any other format so i dont have to see them there.
How much you like or don't like Transform cads has no basis on how likely they are to return so I dunno why you even bothered to say this WOTC has gone on record in saying that Transform cards were a success but because it costs them extra money and work to make them, they can't justify doing them very often. The last Core Set for the foreseeable future could probably give them enough incentive to pay those costs though. We'll see soon either way.

A) New Cards will always be more exiting to players (new or old) than reprints, especially reprints of cards that have been obsoleted 10000x times over. If you need more Serra Angels, there is no shortage of them you can pick up from any store for a quarter each
B) New World Order has nothing to do with cards like Fireball (hell Fireball has been reprinted in Coresets after NWO became a thing). You're basically using NWO as a buzzword for "new things I don't like" :/
C) Who says there won't be any cool classic reprints in the set at all? How could you possibly come to this conclusion given we know so little about the set?
Karla Ortiz Liliana art? Well, there's a dream combination.
The lack of a green character is not unnoticeable. On that note, are healers a green thing as well as a white thing?
Green can heal and it's a major theme in the color, but things like Soulmender and Soul Warden are White, and Liliana in that art seems to fall into the latter.
So would it be possible for a new legendary creature to transform into an already existing planeswalker card? Like "Liliana, the Healer" transforming into Liliana Vess? As long as the night side of the card is identical to Liliana Vess, shouldn't it work fine?
I agree. Just about every Necromancer story has his/her origins as a healer/reviver of some sorts. Though having some white origins make me feel that there's no true monoblack walker (in a sense). Seems that Ob Nixilis might have taken that slot.
I could imagine her unable to save/heal someone close to her and delving into the dark side (perhaps a pact with demons) made her break.
That jace though, is ugly.
Liliana being white-aligned does remind me of this art depicted a black Elspeth and a white Liliana. At least of one these things have come true
And yes that Jace art is ugly but Jace was always a boy scout type of character in my opinion so that fits.
Man that's freaking beautiful! Thanks for sharing it
No problem. I like the share with fellow Liliana fans
Yep they go from legend to planeswalker. Compare Venser, Shaper Savant to Venser, the Sojourner. Venser is the very first walker in the game to have a creature card that came before his walker card.
I don't think Nicol Bolas would appreciate your lapse in memory, sir. Or Teferi for that matter. Or Karn.
Sparking does not change your personality, it only means you can now planeswalk. A huge traumatizing event in your life that changes your personality could be what also makes your spark ignite, but the personality change is not the spark's fault.
More on point, though, the card type would make this a nightmare. Would they be legendary creatures that become planeswalkers when they flip? Does that mean you could flip one, then play a second and just make sure you don't flip it? Would it make them eligibe to be Commanders?

They use the "night" and "day" icons though, which suggests to me the "transform at night" flavour. Wonder if they'd use different icons for the front/back of the proposed creature/planeswalker DFC.
If they do the double-sided thing (which is a cool idea), I could see them just using the planeswalker symbol, and bringing back the creature symbol from Future Sight for the "front" side.
Also, M15 had 140-odd new cards (I got 142, but I was taking the count-them-up-one-by-one approach because I don't know how to make Gatherer bend to my will), which leaves about 100 reprints aside from basic lands...and 15 of those weren't actually in packs. A significant uptick in new cards means probably...what, 75 spots for reprints?

It could be a new Lilly also. We will have to wait and see. I personally am hoping for LotV reprint.

I concede the point. I think I got hit with memory lapse.
Actually, Teferi got his legendary card AFTER he ceased to be a planeswalker, and got his planeswalker card far AFTER that, but representing his form from a time far BEFORE that.
Huh. I guess t hisis fitting for the temporal master wizard.
I could see the theory of the ignight spark mechanic going something like "when this creature dies, return it to the battlefield flipped (transformed). Your spark ignights when you experience a great trauma, so it could fit flavor wise.

She could be G/W though. Who knows.
Your mods are terrified of me.
Having Legendary Creatures that turn into Planeswalkers via flipping would be very cool and could be AWESOME for Commander

Read Time Spiral block novels for Venser's origins.

Nicol Bolas begs your pardon to disagree.
You got one in FTV: Twenty, and that is about as much as you get to get, considering he is dead...

Its the final 'core set'. They are switching to a 2 set block system this fall with no summer core sets.
