It's sad that Notion Thief is UB not UR would make a pretty good surprise...but at least we have all those Act of Treason effect for double pleasure...turn 2 put this guy...turn 3 activate ability then cast Act of Treason then draw 2 again then Gut Shot him...I know it's borderline magic christmas land but still...
weeelll, doublestrike^^ if she or another dragon can attack its gonna get nasty.. but 7 mana and probably no immediate impact is probably not good enough. she should cost 6.
Crazy talk. 12 power's worth of flying trample... you think should cost 6?
yes i do. since she is a 7-drop with no immediate impact most of the times. since when is this constructed playable? to make it worse she has 4 life, which lets her die to stoke as a 7-drop..
I'm enjoying the unfolding lore of this set, that the clans just HAD to take down these freakin' bastard dragons before they themselves were annihilated.
Defector's ability doesn't have the "target opponent gains control" in the cost. So you can have multiple activations with creature untap abilities. Is there anything in standard that untaps your creatures at instant speed, maybe some stupid enchantment?
I can't see the defector being usable without combos. Just drawing two cards without a delay is on the curve for blue at 3, black gets it with a drawback at 2, red doesn't get much ways to restock its burn sure, but the ways it does get are more efficient for all-in than this anyway, ex act on impulse, dangerous wager, etc. So this lets you get +1 card in hand, but its not card advantage, and certainly not when the opponent gets to use it.
the *only* good thing about this card is if you have some dumb dragon lying around after casting it will gain double strike when it attacks. but then you might as well be playing against a snowman
Or if you drop it with Xenagos or have Hammer of Purphoros out or idk, play it with other cards?
Uhhh I need that Dragon for my Intet, I can giving it haste like nothing in that Deck and actually Run a few Dragons plus Xenagos Already so it is all well
That Dragon does deserve a spot in my Dragon EDH deck. It's actually one of the better dragons in Magic, really (At least, if you have a deck with the top 40 jund dragons in there, so it's all relative.)
And the Defector is so awesome in my Zedruu deck. Draws cards and donates itself. What more do I want? My opponents nót drawing more cards? What can I say, it's a bit grouphuggy.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. (Jeskai Ascendancy) Tap him, draw a lightning strike, cast it, untap him and draw two more cards, then loot with the ascendancy. Play another cheap instant, rinse and repeat. With 4 mana open on turn 4, you can realistically draw 6 and look at 8 cards before he goes to your opponent
OH humble Defector! Tap and untap him with Jeskai Ascendancy put the Ability on the stack. untap tap again. do it like 6 times. then Let them Resolve Draw 12 cards and give them a 2/1

then you tap him and it resolves you give him away. So not at the end of the turn. you will end up having to burn your hand to get like 6 triggers. Then let them resolve. drawing alot.

Kekule_the_Magician on the inclusion of Devouring Light in a TurboFog Deck:
Quote from Kekule_the_Magician »
As a person who typically plays very creature oriented decks, I HATE when an opponent has Devouring Light. It is infuriating to finally get through with a creature on to have it exiled.
I've come to hate White in general now because it gets everything to the point where it is almost unfair. White has boardwipes (Wrath of God, End Hostilities), targeted exile and removal (Devouring Light, Banishing Light, Last Breath), lifegain spells, lifelink, low cost/high power enchantments and auras, flying creatures; my goodness what don't they get!?
I love me some Double Strike. And she's in the same colors as Dragon Broodmother you say?? Excellent. I'm going to have to consider building a commander deck for this one.
Red getting conditional card draw like this sounds good to me. Good politics for multiplayer.

Atarka and Xenagos, God of Revels or Hammer of Purphoros seems pretty effective. The god and the hammer are not particularly easy to remove (especially in game 1). With green ramp, Atarka doesn't have to wait until turn 7. It's not magic Christmas to have Zenagod Turn 4 and Atarka Turn 5. Seems like an auto-include in a GR Monsters list and Gr Devotion will probably enjoy a small revival.

Kiora's Follower, needs to tap itself though.
Still think it's be hysterical in Zedruu with Linvala.

She'll still be a 1-of in my list, though. Why? Because Stormbreath Dragon and Sarkhan hit HARD with her around.
